You have a responsibility to be more accurate than this CGR. The Neo Geo was very successful, but it had a different target audience and a different profit model than what was used by Nintendo and Sega. 1990 to 2001 is not "unsuccessful".
Do anything you can to get your hands on a Neo Geo Aes. Mow lawns, trade up, sell your crap on Ebay, pawn your PS3, work at a Mcd's for a month, create a fundraiser, sell lemonade, resell games, sell your parents house. Bottom line is to stop wishing for one and go get one, you'll never regret it.
Nope. Although Street Fighter may have started it and using it may be reference to Street Fighter, it's a relatively common fighting game attack name for pretty much any move of shooting an energy burst from both hands. At least for japanese 2D fighters anyway.

For all of us (I was around 12 at the time) it was basically a system only your really rich friend would have. It was just too expensive.

@Retrogold1 exactly, i was loving the ps2 trend of putting out arcade classics with Snk arcade collection and Capcom collection 1 being 2 of my favorites.
they upgraded the sound effects, and the load time, and you can play with the wii classic controller or gamecube controller if you dont like the wii mote
only down side is you dont get the same style of gameplay that the ps2 controller gives, but faster load time and all of the sound effects that were missing is a good bonus
Still seemed like an SNK "sampler", as there were KOF, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, and Art of Fighting collections available for PS2 that includes those titles and more. The main draw seemed to be the other titles, like Sengoku, Burning Fist, Magician Lord and Shock Troopers.
Neo Geo was an amazing system. Its a shame it was too expensive for the average consumer to purchase. As a child, my hope was to land on the TV show "Video Power." I could have walked away with 10+ games and a neo geo
All us true gamers really really wanted a SNK NEO GEO AES. It could eat the SNES and Mega Drive for breakfast, Shit them out and anally abuse them. The prices were astronomical and that let it down badly. It has outlasted all other consoles with over 20 years of service. Neo Geo we salute you!!
Would love to get it, plus I saw the Genisis collection video you made and I have that on my PS3 and I never had a Genisis back when I was younger, so I am thankful for all of these collection disks of amazing games on consoles I never had,

I remember playing neogeo at this place called high-tech adventure around 1993 it was a place that had all game systems and you paid 15 bucks for a membership,and hang out and play games ,we thought the neogeo was the shit,to expensive but you could go there and hang out in a room with friends sit on bean bags and play it on a projection screen,good times

Interestingly enough, if you search hard enough, you can buy an actual snk neo geo arcade cabinet with board for the same price or cheaper than a neo geo home console. Then just get boards of the games you want, which always come with three games per board. It seems as though, in the U.S., there are more arcade cabs and arcade boards available than the home systems and cartridges.
@nobluetown snk also put out a metal slug comp for the ps2 called metal slug anthology, which has 7 metal slug games. It is a blast! I think I got it for 12.99 used.

i remember when street fighter 2 was all the rage but was only in the arcade... and there was another lessor played fighting game fatal fury in the arcade but no many people played it. seemed revolutionary to even have fatal fury in the home.
@Ryulalo Because they don't have the money to make a sequel. They're not as big as they were back in the nineties, and they can't afford to handle more than KOF as of yet.
Glad to see some coverage on this game. I'd have to disagree about buying this collection on the PS2. While it does have a lot of games, the emulation is poor with slowdown, long loading, and glitches. It was handled by Terminal Reality who also handled Metal Slug Anthology (which also had emulation issues). If you must buy this, get it on the Wii. I suggest you play the actual arcade games before you review another collection as this review had major flaws, was misguiding, and misinformed.
@Soukyugurentai Poor load times, slowdown, and buggy controls. It was a sloppy port of some great games. On the other hand, the Wii VC version of the first Metal Slug is about as arcade perfect as it gets.
After pouring hundreds of coins into Neo-Geo cabinets you finally have the opportunity to buy the titles even knowing most if not all of them are perfectly emulated for years. Can i have moar corporate greed please?

SNK are very important to a lot of people myself included. Making money is only going to fund new games, emulators harm companies like theirs. @HarakiriGTR That's the point. They're the shadow of their former selves, and can't afford the risk of a new game failing anymore. Buying, or re-buying those games is one way of supporting them so they can start putting out real sequels again.
I remember, around the very end of the Snes era. There was a something called a Neo Geo pocket. That system had the same problems the original Neo Geo had. The cartridges were just too expensive. I think I remember seeing Samurai Showdown at Video Games Etc. for 60-90 dollars. I forget the exact amount it was going for.
SOMEBODY HELP! I used to play this arcade game where two people would sit down, one would drive and the other would shoot. There were two male characters in the game, one had blonde hair and the other had brown hair (I think they were mullets lol) and you would basically just drive around and shoot other cars/people. And I also clearly remember being able to see the two character's faces in the rear view mirror (that was the only purpose of the mirror). It's been driving me crazy! HELP!

There is a game that I loved on SNK that I loved but I don't remember the name. It was a first person perspective type, that was like 'Doom; but you can see your players guys hands all the time. I think this predated the' Doom' but wasn't the first like this (Xybots was). Does anyone remember the name and is it on this collection?

I opened up two windows and I refreshed this INecomcompany video over and over, at the same time I was refreshing the other window of the front of YouTube. And not once did this video come up in the "Videos Being Watched NOw" window on the front of youtube. Neogeo and most of it;s games are great, however sadly this collection of games suck. I really wish the collection of games were better, and I already have samurai showdown anthology and metal slug anthoglogy. I'm sorry, but I just got collection just yesterday and plan to return it for my money for a better game.
...Or you can use drivers to connect a ps3 controller to a neo-geo emulator and then hook up the pc to a tv...just did that and you get rly great quality with most of the roms

All us true gamers really really wanted a SNK NEO GEO AES. It could eat the SNES and Mega Drive for breakfast, Shit them out and anally abuse them. The prices were astronomical and that let it down badly. It has outlasted all other consoles with over 20 years of service. Neo Geo we salute you!!

I remember playing neogeo at this place called high-tech adventure around 1993 it was a place that had all game systems and you paid 15 bucks for a membership,and hang out and play games ,we thought the neogeo was the shit,to expensive but you could go there and hang out in a room with friends sit on bean bags and play it on a projection screen,good times

Neo Geo, it was one of my favorite consoles even though I only had 6 games for it. also, R.I.P SNES, PSX, TV, VCR, 700 watt stereo, coffee table, speakers..... yup, it was a horrilbe night to be an electronic in my living room haha.

Interestingly enough, if you search hard enough, you can buy an actual snk neo geo arcade cabinet with board for the same price or cheaper than a neo geo home console. Then just get boards of the games you want, which always come with three games per board. It seems as though, in the U.S., there are more arcade cabs and arcade boards available than the home systems and cartridges.

Glad to see some coverage on this game. I'd have to disagree about buying this collection on the PS2. While it does have a lot of games, the emulation is poor with slowdown, long loading, and glitches. It was handled by Terminal Reality who also handled Metal Slug Anthology (which also had emulation issues). If you must buy this, get it on the Wii. I suggest you play the actual arcade games before you review another collection as this review had major flaws, was misguiding, and misinformed.

@Soukyugurentai Poor load times, slowdown, and buggy controls. It was a sloppy port of some great games. On the other hand, the Wii VC version of the first Metal Slug is about as arcade perfect as it gets.

SNK are very important to a lot of people myself included. Making money is only going to fund new games, emulators harm companies like theirs. When you look at SNKs back catalogue and now with psn and xbl a new gen can appreciate KOF, metal slug etc so support for snk is good if u ask me, I wouldnt call it corperate greed and they aren't a charity.I see nothing wrong in them making a few quid/bucks when your getting good games for your money and its not like ur forced 2 buy em mate

What new games have SNK / Playmore brought to the new generation of PC and Console gamers? Remakes of Metal Slug and KOF.
They should move on and try developing real 3D creative games. Not keep on doing the same thing over and over again.

I know that, I agree Id like to see new games but it doesnt make me dislike the games i loved for years coz their rereleased in hi def with online play etc.It brings a new gen of players. Change things too much and your fans walk. It generates that all important income, appeases the financial types and hopefully greenlights new projects. On your side there m8. They have MADE their money. Emulated/pirated games arent lost sales. When will ppl realise that? I have a MAME HD, over 30 GB. Every game on the MAME list, CHD files the lot!!! Probably worth countless thousands. There was no way I wa goin to pay any amount of money for any of those games, certainly not $200! lol. I wanted the collection, and I have it. If I had to pay for it, I would simply do without. If theymake good modern games. Sure Ill buy a few!

@HarakiriGTR That's the point. They're the shadow of their former selves, and can't afford the risk of a new game failing anymore. Buying, or re-buying those games is one way of supporting them so they can start putting out real sequels again.

I remember, around the very end of the Snes era. There was a something called a Neo Geo pocket. That system had the same problems the original Neo Geo had. The cartridges were just too expensive. I think I remember seeing Samurai Showdown at Video Games Etc. for 60-90 dollars. I forget the exact amount it was going for.

SOMEBODY HELP! I used to play this arcade game where two people would sit down, one would drive and the other would shoot. There were two male characters in the game, one had blonde hair and the other had brown hair (I think they were mullets lol) and you would basically just drive around and shoot other cars/people. And I also clearly remember being able to see the two character's faces in the rear view mirror (that was the only purpose of the mirror). It's been driving me crazy! HELP!

There is a game that I loved on SNK that I loved but I don't remember the name. It was a first person perspective type, that was like 'Doom; but you can see your players guys hands all the time. I think this predated the' Doom' but wasn't the first like this (Xybots was). Does anyone remember the name and is it on this collection?

On the front of the page they have "Videos being watched now." I opened up two windows and I refreshed this INecomcompany video over and over, at the same time I was refreshing the other window of the front of YouTube. And not once did this video come up in the "Videos Being Watched NOw" window on the front of youtube. But the same set of videos cycled through that window as if Google was trying to promote the smuttiest videos on YouTube.

I really wish the collection of games were better, and I already have samurai showdown anthology and metal slug anthoglogy.
