@Gunstar1701 I had a hunch that would have been a problem. Plan B: return to where that party was, beg on bended knees, for contact info of whoever that was (offering money might help). Once you find that, find her and offer her a few weeks (or months) wages to photo her (retaining the rights of course, thus the high price tag). Once you get some good photos (a few million ought to do), have the best ones enlarged and make full size cutouts. :-)
@VideosovConnor it's one of my fondest memories of being a pizza driver, dude. I later found out that the girl was an aspiring make-up artist and actress. She did the same with other TV, movie and comic book characters every Halloween. I didn't see it, but I was told she was a very good Dark Phoenix the following year. I've seen many Taarna get-ups on line, but this lady was by far the best. The make up, hair and costume were spot on.

The scene where the female warrior gets dressed in the temple pool is so fucking epic, thanks to a killer soundtrack. I can't get over just how well this was animated! Some parts of it look like motion capture!

I remember seeing this as a kid. 2nd grade or so. GI Joe, Transformers, etc. anyhow Heavy Metal was on HBO (simply the best! I believe was the HBO intro at the time). This part of the movie is something that has stuck me with throughout the years. You kids these days might think this sucks in terms of graphics&art , but back then it was way cool.

That's awesome, i adore the works of Cameron and he's perfect. Afterall Avatar was like a big screen issue of HM magazine and was inspired by some issues of that magazine! They should hire that Yoshiakta Kawjari guy who made kickass not-for-kids animated movies like Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Animatrix, Wicked City, etc. for an anime segment, Will Vinton of Claymation fame for a Clay segment and Henry Sellekc of Nightmare Before Christmas fame for a stop motion segment

Yes but it was also like Frank Herbert's Dune novels with Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind from Hayao Miyazaki as inspiration since he is a huge fan of Miyazaki/Ghibli. And do you think The Matrix is like live-action anime like Ghost in The Shell and Akira starring Keanu Reeves?

Well Avatar was always a pet project for Cameron since he is a fan of 1981's HM movie and the comic magazine of HM did you know that? well after he wrote the script in 1994 and waited years for the technology to evolve as he got some ideas out of HM magazine for the world and creatures of Pandora including the horse creatures and Na'vi which were inspired by HM magazine creatures. Do you think Heavy Metal is on par with Akira, Ghost in The Shell etc.?

I'll never forget Halloween, 1988. I was a driver for Domino's. I knocked on the door of my sixth party for the night and TAARNA HERSELF answered. This girl had killer curves and the costume was PERFECT; the suit, the hair, even the neck tattoo. She was totally in character, too, not saying a word except for a slight chuckle when I stammered "Uh..Domino's Pizza.....Nice to meet you, Taarna...I'm a big fan." She gave me $80 for a $65 order and waved for me to keep the balance. I LOVE TAARAKIANS!!

@TheMrBlinx I was tempted to do something like that, MrBlinx, but in past years, other drivers had called in with car trouble or whatever on Halloween and New Year's Eve to go to parties they'd delivered to. All drivers working that night were warned not to try it and I needed my job.

@Gunstar1701 I had a hunch that would have been a problem. Plan B: return to where that party was, beg on bended knees, for contact info of whoever that was (offering money might help). Once you find that, find her and offer her a few weeks (or months) wages to photo her (retaining the rights of course, thus the high price tag). Once you get some good photos (a few million ought to do), have the best ones enlarged and make full size cutouts. :-)

@VideosovConnor it's one of my fondest memories of being a pizza driver, dude. I later found out that the girl was an aspiring make-up artist and actress. She did the same with other TV, movie and comic book characters every Halloween. I didn't see it, but I was told she was a very good Dark Phoenix the following year. I've seen many Taarna get-ups on line, but this lady was by far the best. The make up, hair and costume were spot on.

I remember seeing this as a kid. 2nd grade or so. GI Joe, Transformers, etc. anyhow Heavy Metal was on HBO (simply the best! I believe was the HBO intro at the time). This part of the movie is something that has stuck me with throughout the years. You kids these days might think this sucks in terms of graphics&art , but back then it was way cool.

God damn this movie is awesome. i saw this when i was 12 and was never the same. very few movies can really make you feel like you've been transported to another world, but this one pulls it off. fucked up, imaginative, gritty, mind bending, and violent as hell. what more could you want?
