Respectfully disagreeing with METAL1ON here. I think this work shows that you have a true appreciation for that unique spirit of Konami's Gradius tunes. These are beautiful updates of the originals, and I feel a little silly for not checking out your non-MM arrangements earlier. Unrelated, but have you given consideration to making some Gradius Gaiden themes?
Listening to this a second time, I felt the need to research Gradius 2, and from that, I think I figured out why the Famicom version of G2 never saw an NES release. It's likely because of the mapping chip it used, which was Konami's VRC4. Since it was a 3rd-Party chip not made by Nintendo, it couldn't be used in games outside of Japan. Only 1st-Party hardware was allowed for use in the USA and Europe.
Tabidachi sound awful, burning heat sounds like burning heat and thats it, Ill stop there you have more music skill than i could ever hope to have but whilst you have done a great job at reproducing the tracks the originals are all better than what you have produced, sit with some headphones on listening to the originals and listen deeply to them there are a lot of channels to the original music that give the tunes their charm, keep trying ill give this a thumbs up.
@METAL1ON Well, that's exactly what I did. I listened to the tracks very carefully, sometimes with my headphones on. I'm pretty sure all the channels are there, but maybe they sound unclear to you because of the synths I used. Could you explain what it is you find awful about Tabidachi? Thanks for complimenting me on my music skills at least, even if you didn't care much for the music itself :)
@METAL1ON Sorry it was just my opinion of tabidachi since I listen to the original quite often I just didnt like it. Im a huge Gradius fan and tend to like it the way it is Ive come across lots of remakes of the various tunes over the years and have never liked any of them better than the originals. Dont take my opinion to heart because its just an opinion.
Gradius being my favorite shmup series and II being my second favorite Gradius soundtrack next to III, this is wonderful. It's a shame this has so few views.
This cover is awesome! Have you considered covering songs from Contra? That game had an awesome soundtrack. If you've already done a song from Contra, you could say you've done covers from 3 of Konami's most memorable old-school series; the others being Gradius and Castlevania. (I call them old-school because it was during the NES era when these series got off the ground; plus, Konami made "ReBirth" games of all 3.)
@SynobazzCircutMaster I've covered one of the songs from Super Contra called "Jungle Juncture", there's a link to it on my website. So yeah, I've done all three :D
@Gencoil Ahh, good old Super Contra... the series first step (I think) into 16-bit territory... personally, I preferred the European "Super Probotector" over the American version. Why? Because... PROBOTECTOR HAZ ROBOTZ!!! (If that didn't give enough away, yeah... I'm an absolute bot-brain. Any game with playable robots usually winds up in my collection.)
@Desmaad I thought it was more fun this way, making it almost feel like you're listening to someone playing the game. Besides, some of the songs are just short loops and they would risk becoming repetitive if I posted 2-3 minute versions of them.
I really suck at Gradius games, but this is an amazing mix. Very anxious for that MP3 download. I love how you really started it off by making me feel like I just started a new game, complete with the "start" tone and the loadout screen music.
@peepeevagi It's not so much work as it is constantly listening to the songs over and over to make sure everything sounds good, which can be very time consuming if you're a perfectionist like me :P Thank you very much for your comment, I'm glad you liked it!

This is AWESOME, man.
You ever gonna get around making the 2nd half of the soundtrack? I'd love to hear your renditions of Maximum Speed and the Boss Rushes.
