i'm not being mean but the sites fearne was looking at did say things like 'you need to lose more weight' and they also said things like 'punish yourself for eating if you do'. i'm so against these sites, so many of my friends worry about their weight and some are even anarexic/bulimic.
the first time i found a pro-anorexia site i was so happy, because i found people that could understand me and they were never mean to me. I just love so much my community XD we totally rock!
i totally agree with you!!! i'm 100% pro-anorexia, and i will never tell another ana girl that she needs to lose more weight (i know how words can hurt).
It's a shame that almost all the eating disorders documentaries talk about it in such a shallow way. i'm not a member of that site, but i'm a member of others pro-anorexia sites (NOT FOR WANNAS HAHA) i really don't think you can get anorexia just because you watch some thinspirations videos or because you go to a pro-anorexia site.
I wouldn't say I was or supported the idea of being pro-anorexic, however I agree that the documentaries are shallow. And yes, although they can trigger unstable though, anorexia can't just be developed from viewing these websites. :)
i watched the documentry and i checked out a few sites, and i really cant see what your point is exactly, i mean, what are you disagreeing with the fact that they dont give out as much tips and they claim? from what i saw, its not JUST the tips, its the , "starve on" and almost competition to be thin between them, and this word of wannarexics or w/e like its some special club they wanna protect. its total contradiction and only ok in their heads dude. XD
I was disagreeing with the way some (but not all) of the people that go on the pro-anorexia sites are represented in the majority of the documentary. For example, at the beginning she shows a picture with a woman who is very emaciated and basically says it's thinspo. This is not true, having seen this post I can confirm it's a massive post explaining the dangers, consequences and mental heealth effects of anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders. Also, a wannarexic would never call [cont...]
themselves a wannarexic. Many of the girls genuinely have eating disorders, the part she doesn't address to much later. Also, the community she showed is actually more serious less "wanna", I mean fine if she showed some of the ones were girls critique each other and such, I'd understand.
oki i see your point, she didnt seem to really get into why and the real things with it, it did seem to just show alot of her disgust rather than treat it like a real illness, but i still think alot of those sites justify this unhealthy practice, i saw one girl say how did one thing, i wont say but i was shocked as you could find that stuff in any home.
i'm sorry.. but.. that i was a member of that site... and it made me personally sicker. ;( maybe not for you... but every site of that type has made me feel the shite person i am .
I definately considered it, but I figured a Google search would pull it up if anyone wanted it as well as more, even more dangerous sites that would inevitably come with it.
