I think you just answered your own question. I just started listening to his solo stuff, and I'm blown away by him. He really should be a lot more popular, unfortunately you have to be on american idol or have a song that sells ringtones to get any kind of notoriety.

I've been thinking about it as well, but I think Richie feels absolutely fine with what he has. He has a decent number of devoted listeners around the world. And he is absolutely independent as an artist. I believe he has enough money to pursue his own musical goals the way he wants it. Being popular worldwide would mean giving up to a major label which he probably doesnt like to do.

I wonder why Kotzen isn't as popular as Joe Bonamassa, but it must be Kotzen's Shrapnel association and people's preconception that he's just a shredder. I think with the right marketing team he'd be a blues rock god in the U.S. and go toe to toe with Bonamassa in the Guitar Player polls.

Anyway, Kotzen is an incredible player no matter what style he's playing in!!

Thank you for sharing, Richie is incomparable to other rock artist right now, he is one of the last remaining rock, blues, soul musical genius existing today. I don't know why people here in the U.S. doesnt appreciate a genuine talent. Richie tours in europe, japan and south america because he has a solid fan base there, right here in the U.S. most people like the synthetic rock artists. He is truly a Genius Song writer and Guitar Player!!!
