PC Only. But thats not to say that there isn't another from a diffrent company that works on a Mac. I don't a use Mac so I coulnd't really say for sure.
I capture the footage using hdvsplit thyen drag teh files into an an avid project that is setup for 1080p HDV. It trasncodes automaticly. Its an Avid Codec, not sure exactly wich one.

oh just wondering....i dont know how the editing process works. i only use FCP. its not a codec like hd1080i or prores422.....

No, Avid likes to use their own codecs. I think its called DNxHD or something...

Yes, but when you shoot in 24f mode and import into Avid with the proper settings it becomes 1080p.
