Whooo...it got all kinda funky up in that joint!! I agree with the positive opinions on Squier basses, they used to be really crappy instruments, but the company has made some major improvements. I'm thinking about getting their fretless jazz bass. There is still one drawback - they are heavy, but if you're just starting out, or want a backup instrument, it's an excellent idea to look at them.
Yo people out there!!!! This dude is jus' like me. He is letting yaw know and see that you don't have to spend a tone of money to get quality sound out of a cheap bass. Ya' dig? Squier 5 string bass. Now mind you he also have a Ampeg rig I thing behind him. The spacing on those basses are like a 4 string. You can really dig in without hitting other strings. That is true the deal with the Squier Precision Special.
I noticed that as well! Nothing against Squiers, it's just they seem more low end. Guess it just goes to show that it's the player, not the instrument.
yeah, it goes without saying that the player's the most important factor by far. But I think this goes to show how much higher-quality the "budget" basses and guitars have become in recent years. Probably has to do with higher-quality machines in the factories, CNC routing, etc. The entry-level brands like Squier and SX are as good quality now as the more expensive mid-range stuff was when I was starting out in the late 1980s.
a good player can make a "bad" bass sound great (not saying Squier's are bad basses, just not usually professional quality), but a bad player cant make a decent sound even with the best bass on the planet. so its all about the player =]
im sure u cud give this guy or wooten or clark an £100 bass and theyde still make it sound amazing!
looks like it started as a 5 string p-bass, then he must have switched the p pickup for a j pickup, and added the bridge humbucker... never seen anything like that before
@drzfynest65 Even the "lower end" brands can have good instruments. LTD and Epiphone make great instruments, but you can also find dirt cheap crap that they make. I'm sure it's the same case with Squier.
@drzfynest65 squires are actually good basses. the only drawback is they are heavier than the real jazz basses. but they will kick some ass if u got the skills
One of the best bass solo I ever seen! My favorite!

yea thats true of course. Most of the emissions are made in terms of tone. I think, while his playing is good, the tone doesn't quite do the job.
