@CallXenaWarrior Jane Seymour stupid, howver Jane Seymour died by a bad done cesaerea, the ones that were killed were Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard moron
@cvillarrealg2000 What are you talking about? Jane Parker (aka Lady Rochford) and Jane Seymour (King Henry VIII's 3rd wife) are two completely different historical people. Jane Parker (aka Lady Rochford) was a lady-in-waiting to Catherine Howard and she was beheaded for her involvement in Catherine's affair with Thomas Culpepper, which is exactly what this scene is all about.
@CallXenaWarrior you are right ,and she was the one who condemed her own husband lord rochford ,and queen anne to cromwell ,and was herself executed for aiding and abetting katherine howard in her adultury .a bloody time the tudor days. thanks for the upload.
The kings of former days are our politicians. Henry the 8th has nothing on any world leader of today. The conformists elect sociopaths to govern them, less intelligent than ants, because they get nothing from their allegiance. Individual thought is the most difficult thing in the world for most men --which is why they specialize like insects. Google Fully Informed Jury Association for a path to regaining our lost individual freedom, won by heroic Englishman John "Freeborn John" Lilburne
It really annoyed me when Norfolk didn't return in the series, as he played a big part in Henry's reign, but in also the rise and fall of Catherine Howard, he was the one that brought her to the Kings attention ect. But then in the series Charles Brandon and Edward Seymour are the ones that do that, which is completely false. And Cranmer went walkies after season 2, it really messes with the storyline, they could have easily got another actor to play them.
@greatleaderleopold Henry the 8th was no saint, but really? Worse than Hitler? Need I remind you the atrocious acts he committed? Do you know how many people were killed by him? I rarely insult another's intelligence, but you really need to reread your history books. Hitler was one of the most evil men who ever lived. Henry the 8th was selfish, and vain, but he was no Hitler.
They got this the wrong way round. It was Katherine Howard who was executed first and she was the nervous one. Lady Rochford died gracefully and without fear. But that aside its still a great series. Worth a second watch I think. Brilliant.
@MischievousRose Jane Boleyn, Lady Rochford. She was married to Anne Boleyn's brother George before he as executed. She was a lady in waiting to Katherine Howard and was convicted for helping her committ adultery, arranging meetings with her lovers.
BACK IN THE EARLY 70'S SAW THE FILM OF HENRY V111 (WITH KEITH MICHELLE AS HENRY) AND THE PART OF KATHERINE HOWARD WAS PLAYED BY THE LATE LYNNE FREDERICK (VERY BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN) STRANGE HOW REAL LIFE CAN MIRROR THE LIFE OF THE ACTOR/ACTRESS. AFTER THE DEATH OF PETER SELLERS SHE WENT COMPLETELY OFF THE RAILS (DYING FROM NATURAL CAUSES AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 41)
This execution scene is all WRONG! Katherine Howard died first, she didn't piss herself, and was shaky (not like Rochford is portrayed in the video, but shivering almost, and her voice was shaky.) Rochford was composed and died bravely.
Of course, you were on-hand at the time to ensure us that she didn't wet her pants in terror before dying and that her voice was tremulous and shaky. *eyeroll*
Jonathan Rhys-Davies is RIDICULOUS in these late episodes! Henry was a morbidly obese, balding, scabrous, syphiliitic pig with a leg ulcer that bled constantly by the time he went after Catherine Howard. This show is amusing, but REALLY SILLY!
@MegaLongSocks And how many times do you think king Henry was unfaithful during his many marriages? She was a young girl, forced into marriage with an old, fat man with a festering leg wound. She must have been disgusted with him. Morally, king Henry had no right whatsoever to pass judgement on her.
What can I tell you, it is a man's world. Kings would pick as mistresses, the married women of their court, so that if a pregnancy followed ; the king could/could not acknowledge the child as his. Now as a queen is the sole bodily posession of the king, it would be treason if she tried to pass off another man's child as lawful heir of the king's body, and throne. It is that simple.
@molarmama5 I know, I have a degree in history. I was however, discussing the MORAL aspect, since the guy I responded to seemed to think death was just and fair for a cheating spouse.
"I've spoken to God so rarely I do not think he would know who I was." Creepy and as for Henry, it's interesting to see how luxurious his Court became and the furnishings. It used to be so crude, but now it's more refined and decadant. No wonder Katherine was unable to control herself.
@PringleTrain You would if you were A) 17-19 B) if you knew you were going to die that way and C) you'd just seen one of your friends have it done to them 2 seconds ago.
@PringleTrain It will most likely be because she just witness someone's beheading and she is to experience the same fate. It's most likely because of fear. When Francis Derham witnessed Thomas Culpepper's death in another video, he vomited. It's all to do with intense fear.
@Raemoth75 Apologies for the mishap. I just enjoy the series and I am a fan of Tudor History. I know that most of the series will be based on the real events that happened at the time but obviously now I've been told that some of them are not completely accurate.
@SarahJayne2603 It's ok sorry for my abruptness. This series took many liberties with history and while I did enjoy it I had a hard time with it at times. Lady Rochford being a lady in waiting would have been below her as queen which would be why she was executed first. She died with dignity and grace something she did not live with most of her life. She was an unsupervised child and she ran wild and didn't think the law applied to her.
@JessicaLouiseMusic They were all related through Anne's mother who's maiden name was Howard until she was married and it became Boleyn. Thomas Culpepper's mother was also a Howard.
She would have been spared the fate of her cousin if she had admitted to a pre-contract of marriage with Francis Durham but instead she said he raped her, or something of that matter. She wouldn't have said that, she would have at least kept her head...But I feel so badly for her. It's heart wrenching that a girl so young had to die...Henry VII is truly burning in hell.
I have to say I fully expected "the wife of Culpepper" quote as so much of "The Tudors" is fictional. Enjoyable to watch certainly, well made certainly, but don't base your History Test answers on what you've seen in the series.
Is it wrong that she is the wife I don't pity. You cheat on the king and get caught...where as Anne had false accusations, Catherine was divorced and left alone for nothing, and Jane died in childbirth. But this Catherine, she married an old man and died for cheating. The only thing I pity her for is she is considered the "dimwitted wanton," she wasn't a wanton she was just young.
I don't about everybody else on this piece but is it me or was Lady Rochford appear to be stone before they cut off her head? What does everybody else think?
grotesque...henry is worse than Nero. He is a bloodstained tyrant and brat. The worst ruler for England and he makes his youngest daughter a bastard who becomes one of England's greatest queens. Eat your own heart Henry piece of shit, Anne BEAT YOU!
I was a bit disapointed that at the block, Lady Rochford didn't confess that she lied about George and Anne being lovers. I think that, and the way Henry treated Katherine in the end, helped shape the way Princess Elizabeth thought about marriage. Which was a big deal in how she ruled.
Jane Boleyn is one of my fav historical figures. But she wasn't the victim. She sent Anne, her husband and her lovers to their deaths. She then testified against Anne of Cleaves (could have resulted in death luckily divorce) she then let Kitty Howard away with treason, testified against Kitty, pretended to be mad to get out of being beheaded. She was a cunning woman that had a terrible life but she was vengeful, bitter and nasty and would betray anyone to save herself.
@Medusa0999 Except Anne didn't have lovers against Henry. All the accusations made against her were false. Still, Jane had a very sneaky but dangerous way of vengeance against the Boleyn family after her disastrous marriage and since Kitty was, in fact, Anne Boleyn's cousin, I suppose she felt the need to have her head cut off too.
@AmethystEyes They put alot of effort into the Anne Boleyn one but with this one they threw out the history books and said "please feel sorry for her". BTW where the hell is crammer and the Duke of Norfolf two of the most important figures in Henry's reign have gone missing. One of the most important stories in Henry's latter reign is about the attempt to bring down crammer by the catholics we won't even see it
@12from12 I totally agree with you. the "annoymous" letter bit was very unconvicing. It would better if Cranmer was in it. You know, a scene in which he discovered Katherine's sexual past. His reactions & hatred for the Howards since they were the ones who caused Cromwell's death.
I do so agree with you. At first I thought they would make six seasons, each season covering a particular wive. But the first two seasons were almost entirely dedicated to The King's Great Matter and the eventual downfall of Anne Boleyn. Overall, the Tudors is a very faithful adaption, even though some might disagree.
What I am trying to say, is that despite all the drama -- which in and on itself does not really bother me -- they incorporated many accuracies, even though some are merely based on hearsay and gossip. Anyway, I did not really like how Henry was portraited. Indeed, they had this virtuous prince on one side and this tyrannical potentate on the other and indeed throughout all the seasons he was this slightly headstrong, single minded person who could really irritate you...
But still, the way in which he ate that pomegranate, boasting about "sex being a great medicine", it does seem at odds with the prudish Henry, the Henry who insisted upon decorum, the Henry who also had a softer, almost feminine side, and could be very emotional. Nay, that is not the Henry we get to see here.
Well, I did not say that it didn't make for a wonderful serie. Especially if you do not know so much about the Tudor Era, you can learn a great deal from this serie. It actually roused my apetite some years back. But personally, I only liked season 1 and 2.
@12from12 Cramer was almost 60 miles away tending to a family matter and Norfolk he was there at the actual day of Katherines execution but was away all day the day before and the morning leading up to her execution.
