Whenever this happens to my iPod , I always hold on to the sleep button for 3 seconds . Then I keep on holding on to it and press the one button with my other hand. Hold the sleep and one button for 10 seconds. Then without removing ur finger from the one button , release the sleep button and continue holding on to the home button for about 10 seconds! And Voila!!
Wait......... Sorry! This is for IPod Touch! My bad.
all you have to do is turn it on to where the apple appears and hit it hard like 5 times on a table and it should work, now I am having troubles trying to restore it. An error code of 1439 comes up. Does anyone know how to fix this?
when yu reset it, dont let go of the center button, just release the menu button, and then hold down the play button (keep the center button down at all times untill disk mode comes up)
The hard drive has 99% failed in any 6th/7th gen ipod which shows the apple log or a red x. Hold it to your ear, if it clicks it's broken. The only fix is a replacement or try banging your ipod on a hard surface a few times until it stops clicking. Otherwise sell it for parts you will get £30
dammmm,im having thesame problem as your ipod mine is 80g classic,i dont know what to do,i wonder maybe if you get your one solved, let me know for any solution please
@aleixolopo A few days ago, I hit it really hard against my hand and it turned on! All of my music was still there but I, unfortunately, was unable to get it onto my computer since it was corrupted. When I restarted it, it turned back on (after a 30 minute wait -_-) and all my music was gone :(. It takes half an hour to start up and runs really slowly. So, basically, it's fixable but not even worth it. :[
try this turn hold switch on the off hold menu and center button just like the reset thing then when your supposed to hold center and play don't hold left and center this will put the ipod in test mode then push manual test which is menu go to i/0 test test hard drive its probly dead you can test everything in your ipod in this mode
if you download the latest version of itunes it will ask you itself to restore it. otherwise if yr pc and itunes reads the ipod, there is an option given by itunes to restore the device
I wanted an 80 GB not for the songs only, but also for movies (which I have many of). in addition, I have 10 games and over 3000 pictures. I wanted the iPod classic and this was the lowest model. When I put everything on it, it came to about 30 GB which is more than any other iPod model that is not the 80 GB. That's why I bought it.
open it up and then disconect the hard drive and reconnect it then put ur ipod back together and it should start i figured this out after trying to reset it many times with no luck, thought id open it up and have a look tried that and it worked for me :)
(if ur not sure how to open it there is a vid on utube how to replace the battery DONT remove the batt just follow my instructions)
i through Mine against the Wall When i got bad with it, i always do that. i think Ipods just do this. But Im really upset so if somone could PLEASE reply to this and help me:
BASICALLY:
It wont reset..and It wont turn On, And When i plug it to a Power Source Is Does NOTHING.
when something doesent work of mine i thow it against a wall ,some times it fixes its about 2% out of 100% of the time it fixes the problem or it brakes evenmore!
Same thing happened to me. I just took to geek squad since i had a plan. I got a reimburnished(i think thats how you spell it) one. Now this one wont hold a charge and the serial # is different than the prevoius one so i cant go to them to fix it.
o ok. i called Apple and they said it would be like $150 dollars to fix. why pay that to fix my old ipod when i could use the money to put towards a new iPod touch? lol
I've had alot of problems similar to this where the website support was no use at all. Here's a sure-fire way to get the help you need, worked with me every time. Directly call the company, tell them you tried everything and trust me, they can't just hang up on you. This'll work and I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks alot for the advice! I'll be sure to call Apple as soon as I can.! O and thanks for remaining subscribed. About 7 people have unsubscribed and I don't know why =(. But thanks for the help!
thanks! i called apple support (and got disconnected twice lol) but they helped me as best as they could and came to the conclusion that it is a hardware failure . that means i would hafta pay $150 to get it fixed. =P might as well just by a new iPod. i was thinking of buying an iPod touch for my next bday anyway so its all good =D
I have an Ipod classic with a screen problem (blacks out)I still have the warranty but they said they said they ran out off parts!!! Its things like these that suck
hahahaha thats awful for you! =P you should go back to the store. its not right for Apple to do that to you if you are still under warranty. by the way, please subscribe to me! thanks! =D
Plug it into your computer, boot up iTunes, sync it and see if that works... if that doesn't work then you have to take it to an Apple Store and see what they can do. If your warranty's expired then they can't help you.

Buy a broken iPod like yours in Craigslist, (w/ broken screen) use it for the spare parts. You can buy them for between $40 - $50
I own 3 black classic 80gb iPods by doing this little frankenstein thing with broken iPods so far.

@brianpaulashleyown Your battery is probably dead. Change it or go to the Apple Store
