  • @MrDewy67 your comment is so creepy. You can be nicer than that.

  • kung fu -rice paper walk -gijoe989.

  • At one time there were as many at ten Shaolin temples in China, although only five were active at any one time. Each temple had their own forms of testing. It is believed that the Honan Temple employed the rice paper walk as well as the Hall of Wooden Fighting men as part of the final test. Some temples required the candidate to run a gauntlet made up of temple masters. The final test irequired moving the hot urn that was situated at the exit door where the brands would be imposed.

  • RIP dude, I think you were murdered by some shady ladies.

  • and now hung himself while beatin off, oh the irony

  • Was him an ex shaolin monk?

    LOL

Why people confound fiction with reality?

  • Uhhh, that was David Carradine. Young Caine was played by his brother, Keith Carradine. Sorry, just want to keep facts where they are.

  • this scene affected me as a kid! To this day(at 195 lbs and 6' tall)you will not here me walking usually...or only very little. And I teach my son the same thing. Why waste energy slamming your feet down or scraping them along!?(even Elephants walk VERY silently!) It says something of a person, how they walk. The 'rice paper' is not first about stealth it is about grace and self control. Great scene; Great show; Great message for everyone STILL. We have lost a friend but not the meaning of.

  • tripo1samson....what are you saying? It does not matter if the story is true or not. Maybe it is. the point is still the same. who knows if anybody can do the rice paper walk for real? Such monks were ("obviously")able to perceive and do many things we cannot. Most westerners don't think past the age of their skin or cars. Unless their is profit involved. The purity and challenge of the 'rice paper walk' scares away most so-called civilized people. If not real...it is a great metaphor.

  • So very well stated, friend. Tell me . . . do you understand what it is to understand without knowing once one ceases to strive to understand? Another piece of wisdom from the show. "When you cease striving to understand then you will know without understand." Few are they who can interpret what is meant here.

  • shadowolfblue: I loved this show as a kid. I think it is talking about FAITH! It is just a rework of wording in the Bible, when God tells us about Himself, & wants us to

"Be still & know that I am God."

It is awesome we can't know all there is to know, But God Does!so when you realize it is NOT all about YOU, but it (life) is all about GOD & how we relate to Him & to others ((so many agonize & ponder what the meaning of life is?--it is EZ! Love God & love each other!!) & He LOVES us !

  • Thank you, Jallulah. It had been so long since I posted this I had to look again to see what you were replying to LOL. Thanks again, man.

  • its not about his acting....obviously he was more than an actor, u crazy people!!!

  • talk about poor taste...

  • His attorney is already telling the press not to judge this a suicide just yet. An investigation may turn up something else. It may have been a bizarre accident or murder. I'm going to wait until further news developes.

    RIP David Carridine.

  • I find his death very sad. What I personally do not get is that no one in his family, his kids, etc. had a clue that he was privately depressed to this level. Suicide victims really believe that no one loves them or could help. That inherently is a self imposed lie. I knew a man who had 3 daughters and not one of them was close enough to him to stop him from pulling the trigger. You would think that one would care. Always reach out to someone.

  • That last comment was pathetic and is just typical of the moronic element that YouTube attracts.

  • Thanx for posting. Perhaps you can add some context by including the scene that describes why he must complete this task and what it means in his life journey. Good job.

  • hahahahahaha!!!!!!! WOW

  • LOL. You should use your sense of humor for good, not evil. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

  • In the unreleased original pilot, Master Po's predecessor- Master Pole, was kicked out of the temple for giving all the young male disciples the ol' "Snatch the Pebble From Out of My Front Pants Pocket Test".

    Not cool, Master Pole...Not cool...

  • More like Master Shaft lol.

  • Ironic. David Carradine is not Asian because the TV executives thought it would be bad for the ratings to have an Asian as the main character. Don't get me wrong, Carradine was great.

  • Kwai Chang Caine was actually half-Caucasian, (his daddy was a white man). If they would have let Bruce Lee star, like he wanted, it would have turned out to be a different show altogether!

    Be like water...

  • I think of this whenever I used to sneek out at night

  • Or sneek in. Don't forget the yin/yang.

  • I am Spartacus

  • soft feet.

  • It's almost how I walk about the house after midnight, so as not to wake others :-)

  • more not wanting to snub my toe on somthin...

  • I think the closest I could get is to tie rice cakes to my feet and walk around on soft carpet. With my luck I'd get in a fight, kick someone in the head, they'd grab my foot and eat my rice cakes. That's just how life is for me ... David Carradine rocks !!!

  • Great as it was, think how much greater if Bruce Lee had been allowed to star!?

  • really? Id have thought a show about the only caucasian to be allowed within a shaolin monastery...starring a chinese lead would be a little off.

  • Please tell me you are joking?(please?)

  • spoil a moment why dont you

  • kung-fu is not a martial art XD ! lol !

  • kung fu is not a martial art?...I think you need a therapist

  • Kung Fu is agroup of many martial arts, actually any skill developed through hard work.

  • best show ever on tv

  • I love kung fu

    Great marcial art!!!

    and carradine when im kid

    gafanhoto -Brasil

  • In movie or not, kung fu is great martial arts.

  • I could do that,)
