I remember Barrymore fell down the steps and hurt his leg, I think the blue team could't got anything cause the man only got 1 question right and lost about £300 but he did got £150 and the garden shed
bless fred from leicester, he was a legend, i remember this episode vividly - true epicness from a game show contestant, he is what you want on a game show.
these was proper game shows....... NOW it reality tv shows trash and people who want to sing who are tone deaf and UK people that destroyed the UK music chart music and filled them with x factor trash! :/
It's good you got the cash equivelent really instead of the prizes, because most of the prizes they gave away on Strike it lucky and Strike it rich were crap :L
Barrymore is a ledge! This is class! Member watching this and loving it so much. Used to hate the young couples which would try adn go across to the final round as fast as they could, you could tell they weren't there for the game. Not like Fred! I used to love Barrymore & the contestants more than the show! They should bring it back with him as the host and the original theme tune! What a true LEDGE!
For a long period in the 1990's this was the most watched programme on British TV, often getting 20 million + viewers, mainly because the shows host at the time was our number one entertainer before he fell from grace.
Ah, excellent footage there, the memories come flooding back. We used to watch this every week, I was only a little fella at the time! BTW, Tony, I'm from Waterford so I'm glad you got that question right. Unfortunately, glassmaking in the city isn't what it was back then.
When he was younger like this, Michael had a great way with people. It's only now he's embarrassing and twisted.

He'd never sung to his wife before (she probably told him that was her dream) and he did it on national tv before he died. What a lovely fella.

This was a pretty big hit in the UK, no?
I believe it originated in the States in the mid-80s, and only lasted one season (series).
