Interesting sidelight on this serial: Universal put out the Scarlet Horseman about the same time in 1946 as Republic's the Phantom Rider. Both featured a mysterious Indian god, who comes back to life to fight the enemies of his people. Both characters are portrayed by a white man in the film. The only difference is that Republic had a better stable of stuntmen to deliver the action than Universal and their hero didn't use that crazy kazoo whistle.
