This story is so fucked up. I remember coming across this book as a kid and it terrified the shit out of me. It's been eleven years and this still is creepy as shit. I don't care what anyone says, you're a bad parent for reading this crazy ass shit to your kids. What the fuck kind of morals are you teaching them? Don't suck your thumbs or someone will cut them off? Eat your soup or you'll become fucking disturbingly thin and die? Don't play with matches or you'll light yourself on fire? Awful.

I don't care what people do with their kids today - it's not like their lives are affecting mine, it's just this creepy ass book that people loved way back in the day lol. I used to suck my thumb from the day I was born until grade 3, and then i stumbled upon Struwwelpeter and read the stories. I ate my dinner every night and never sucked my thumb since.
@wafflewaffle90 the stories are good i mean see this fat kid here he was picky with his food which is a bad thing the kid who sucks his thumb is also bad because 1 he already looks like hes 8 and needs to stop sucking his thumbs and 2 he was told not to suck his thumbs all the stories have a good moral about them if you really think about it

My mom used to read Struwwelpeter stories, Max and Moritz and Brothers Grimm to me as a kid, and I was a bit disturbed by all the violence: kids starving, getting their thumbs cut off, being ground into corn meal. It sure stopped me from sucking my thumb or complaining about soup!
