It was one of 81 loco's destined for Egypt. Yes they are fast and the reason for that is the lack of weight that the domestic chooches have.

It was actually going 70 mph at the end of the video. They usually get up to 60 mph. Do not forget the test track is not that long! There have been loco's that have run off the end of the test track!

HMMM, I read in Trains Magazine that they were Chinies high altitude units, and that they arived there a few months ago. Although some may be going there.

That is the only one I have on a unit going over 60mph. They usually test up to 60mph. I hope to get more high speed runs.

I went to college in Erie (PSU Behrend) back in the last 80's early 90's and I used to love watching high speed runs on the test track!

I asked around, and this unit is most likely either an ES40ACi for Egypt or an ES44ACi for Kazakhstan.

The Chinese units (ES59ACi) have a single cab and don't have the full cowl carbody like this unit has.

Thanks again for posting this! Your videos of the GE test track are among the most interesting and "rare" train videos I've seen on YT.

I think unit is for chinese railroad,locomotive have automatic coupler,europe have not automatic couplers.
