Just seen this last night,the ''Academy of Music'',in Philadelphia, their were ''set & arrangement''changes,since I first seen this, 40+ years ago in N.Y.City,and another 5 or 6 times,in Philly since, but this what made the ''Show'' work so well...and that cast was extremely talented,in both,''song and dance'',and their''Acting'' excelled...''My best to the Cast,in the future''...
does anyone else see the irony that completly straight will swenson is dancing on top of a guy whereas the openly gay gavin creel is sending flirty eyes to anne hathaway? and newsweeks acts like you can't act gay/straight!!!!
this is what i love about the tonys. you think those stuuck up pricks at the oscars would ever let this happen? roberto benigni, aka god, got in trouble for jumping up and down on the chairs when he won best foreign film. at the tony's youd get in trouble for being to boring. live theatre ftw!!!
this song is just not about hair.it's about freedom of being who you are and loved for who you are.it's a confrontation between the status quo and the daring of using your freedom of speech.the late sixties and earlhy seventies were an era of awakening in so many ways that it just couldn't be expressed so this song sort of did the explaining.
