  • I love the standards and the V30's. To me, having both is by far the best choice.

  • V30s kick arse compared to the shrill Lead 80s.

  • those V30 sound so good with the AFD100

  • classic lead 80s is like g12t-75

    i like v30

  • Can someone respond. Ive had the AFD100 for a while but it doesn't sound good because I think I have it plugged up wrong. I only have it attached to a 1960av. @puromojo how is yours connected?

  • I'm running the G12-80s with Fane Medusa 150Cs now, but I seriously consider the CL80 w. the 150C. The Fane is tonally basically a V30 perfected, that's bigger and and clearer, so those of you who call the V30 3D-sounding, having a vocal midrange and other would be in for a treat w. that speaker, I might add. The mid punch of those is astounding! :D

  • V30

  • i love this

  • so what would you say about using the two speakers in conjunction... say, the same cabinet?

  • @riseofthefallen301 My cab screams... I love that combination \m/

  • i was liking the classic lead 80, but when i heard the v30 and heard again the whole video, the classic souded like bird crap

  • i hate Slash, definetly overrated guitarrist, but u got a nice playing man :)

  • Wht's your settings on the amp?

  • epi or gibson???

  • The 30's have a more pleasant midrange, better bass, and the highs seem 3D, like they jump out at you. The 80's sound good but a little sterile. Which sucks cuz I have 80's. Now I want 30's.

  • CL80s anjd V30s if broken in, both sound great! Mix these together in one cab and it is GREAT!

  • @richedie That's what I have in my cab. 2x CL80s and 2x V30s in X config ;)

  • I prefered the CLs.

  • Man, that tone was absolutely sweet, what are you recording with? Other than the Shure SM57

  • wow sounds spot on!!

  • Have you ever tried greenbacks? Either the G12M or the G12H

if you mic it on-axis, it will give you a really crunchy and bright tone.

If you find them too midrange-y, maybe mix them with V30s

  • @adam10603

    watch this:

    /watch?v=BAiTYa2Umv4

    AFD100 with greenbacks

  • nice sound man! i really dig it!

nice guitar btw, Vintage right? icon series?

    keep on rocking!

  • V30's

  • Hi, I just received the AFD 100!!! but i have not decide which cabinet to buy if the 1960A or the 1960 AV what would you recommend????? i am trying to get all the AFD record played. BEST REGARDS!

  • @jcmartiz I myself have a 1960 AV Cab as well as a JCM 800 head, all i can say is fuck me the AV Cab is so sick! If i had to describe it in one word......Punchy!

  • In my opinion the V30s sounded more AFD`ish than the CL80s, especially when you compare nighttrain at 1:20 with 4:05

I would use the V30s for AFD sound

  • Both sound very very good, in some ways they sound very similar.I think A comparison between these two and a GM25 would be interesting as there is much debate about which speaker Slash used on AFD.V30s Vs CL80s Vs GM25 Please

  • vintages 30s is more on the tone !!! to me

  • V30's sounds better in my ears. More bass and mids. the CL80s are too bright (and the amp is bright enuff itself)

  • YOU KNOW?! I HEARD THE "MOD" VIDEO, IT DOESNT SOUND TO GOOD LIKE THIS ONE WHY?! ANYWAY... WHAT DO YOU THINK OF PUTTING A COPLE OF CLASSIC LEAD 80 AND A COUPLE OF V30 IN THE SAME CABINET... THANK YOU!

  • @cosimoriccio I must correct the mic position, 'cause the mod is bright... I'll try to post again one day. About the cab, that's exactly what I have 2 CL80s and 2 V30 in X ;)

  • NAAAAH! THAT`S SLASH... HE IS JOKING US! HAHAHA... NICE SOUNDING MAN, I WONDER WATH MODES DID YOU DO THERE! THANK YOU

  • what's the name of the cabinet which has lead 80s? Can anyone help me, I'm currently in the market for a 4x12 with lead 80s.

  • @jimamundo There's no such cab from Marshall anymore, they were build during the 70's and beginning of 80s in some JCM800 4x12 cabs... Other brands do cabs loaded with them, like Egnater. Buy the speakers separately and mount them on your cab.

  • @PuroMojo

Thanks. So if I buy a 1960AV, what additional parts to I have to buy? Is it an easy job to do as well?

    Thanks a lot.

  • @jimamundo some old 1982a and 1982b cabinets had g12-80s and lead 80s.

  • classic lead 80's of course!

  • i like this tone better than the other

  • @dobill07 I agree 100% buddy... all these pieces of gear are just awesome... dream come true to me ; D

Thanks a lot for your message and show your appreciation to this simple review. Have to try the Aerosmith tone to see if it's possible... maybe a more classic non-modded Marshall would be perfect...

  • hey PM, are you liking the AFD100, i think it sounds awesome, you should write a review on afdforum or in the #36 metro thread ;) keep rocking ! :D

  • Hey puromojo you should had included your greenbacks just to see how they sound with the AFD

  • damn my ears would cum all the time with that kind of equipment

  • Im jealous. :)

  • Hey, what gauge strings do you use? a Custom set?

  • Perfect AFD Tone

  • what marshall cab/s have lead 80s?

  • I loved both speakers. I think the classic lead 80's are as the name says more classic and suit great on the AFD songs. However the V30's are great sounding speakers and IMO are a bit more versatile.

  • great tone!

  • ok, the classic lead 80s sound closer to the AFD tone, actually first when i heard the welcome to the jungle intro i tought it was the original song, lol ... the vintage 30s are to metal...ish...for my taste xD hard rock f-ing rullez!

  • @TheRuobi i agree with you, the vintage 30 has too much treble for the AFD Tone
