  • your a gorgeous lady lol

  • You want us to see how long your hair is??? Wasn't it long before hand???

  • @SheilaDang52 Are you inquiring as to the purpose of this video? If so, the point wasn't to show the length but rather to demonstrate how I took out my locs. My hair grew over the period of time it was loc'd. I had length before and more length afterward.

  • you're beautiful

  • @andreduffy1 Thank you!

  • youre beautiful..

  • @SosaDaGuy2NV Thanks :-)

  • Did you ever interlock/latch your locs?

  • @NapturalBeauty721 Yes I did. I didn't start them that way but I interlocked to tighten them

  • I started undoing my locks and I have more than half done it has taken a long time still not finished cause im doing them by myself I have kind of thick dreads t=so it takes my about 20 min to do one and i do like four a day

  • @thesingernahthan 20 minutes sounds about right.

  • how long did you have your dreads

  • HEY YOU HAVE PLENTY OF PATIENCE. I COULD NOT GO THROUGH THAT, I JUST CUT MY LOCS OFF 7/4/11. I AM TOO TENDER HEAD AND I DO MISS MY LOCS SOME TIMES:)

  • I think that whether or not you can take down your locs in dependent on your hair texture.

  • @empressjahada Many think that, but I learned I could take mine down from people with much "nappier" (for lack of a better word) hair than mine. It can be done AND my hair is SUPER thick.

  • @SumKindaWndrful ~ I hear but I disagree.

  • @empressjahada anybody can take down locs with the right products and technique. there are hundreds of videos on yt of ppl taking down their locs w/ all different textures. look up africanexport, onysanya, pinky2d4, libbaration, and applesandmustard even took down a test loc.

  • Oh no you deleted your old account :( I really wanted to watch your old videos....

  • I'm in the process of taking my locs down. (I said I never would, but never say never people.. It sounds good, but you may just wanna change your mind then you're stuck feeling like a hypocrite. :p ) Anyway, I'd say it will take me MONTHS to get them out because I'm just doing a little at a time. So you're doing awesome to do it in 2 weeks. :)

  • I should have watched this before I took mine down. I had locks past my chest, and I cut them to take them out. Now I have to grow my hair all over again. >_>

  • @Ang3licRose OH NO! Sorry to hear that! Happy growing nonetheless!

  • is it cuz ur mix trace dat a lot of hair didn't come out?

  • @OceanBlue03 I had tons of hair come out and had to do several trims. I've never heard that before

  • @OceanBlue03 hair natural comes out with black/mixed/white/asian hair and if you deep condition and keep hair oil after a little while your hair will be less liable to great sums of breakage and if she's mixed doesn't mean her hair is a "mixed" texture, mixed people have 4c hair that's hard and short and gets very tangled and full black people can have curly lose silky hair :)

  • @teekayybabez wats 4c?

  • @OceanBlue03 the term is "mixed race"

  • how long did u have locs?

  • Your hair is so beautiful! Thank you for showing this vid. I plan on locking my hair and had no idea you can take them out without having to cut all the locs off. When I'm ready I'm going to take the locs out. You definitely have the length to pull off any hairstyle. WOW!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly how long did it take you to get the locks out and did you have to get lots of help?

  • @lilyrosedaisy2003 It took me 3 days when I had nothing else to do and I had no help this time. The first time I combed out my locs back in 2003 it took 2 weeks a couple of hours each day with others doing it.

  • Wow this video is inspiring in couple years I may take my locs down too!

  • I didn't think it was possible to take down locks....I'm impressed and in awe!

  • after you picked out your locs did you have to cut or trim your hair..?

  • @ahabahshiloh yes, I definitely did a trim. The first one was while my hair was loose. The second was while my hair was in two strand twists.

  • @SumKindaWndrful so does that mean lil wayne could take out his locks without cutting his hair and it would be like....longest hair on a black guy to not be in dreds??

  • @Tzler I've seen a lot of black guys with long natural hair

  • DID U EVEN HAV DEAD HAIR CUM OUT?

  • @dawnlight411 like shed hairs? There's was a TON of shed hair but not a lot of breakage.

  • Watching videos like these are very reassuring for me, because my locs are a week old but I've been kind of missing the fro, but at the same time I want dreads. Watching videos of people taking out their dreads without cutting a shred of hair is helping me settle into my locs. Perhaps one day I'll take down my dreads and grace the world with a gigantic glorious afro, but in the mean time, I want to see what dreads are like.

  • I NEEVERRR Knew locs could come out! Is this bcz your hair texture is a little lax? Or is it normal to be able to "take down?"

    -Tko

  • I'm assuming by lax, you mean that my hair is softer or finer. It's not really, in fact my hair is extremely thick. I know of many people with different hair types who combed their locs out. In fact this is the third I combed mine out. Check out Shawnta715. She had her locs 6 years, combed them out and is now locing again. The whole idea that you HAVE to shave your head when your done with locs is a big MYTH. It takes tons of patience but ANY loc can be combed out.

  • @TonyaTko Hers should be easier to take out because her hair wouldn't get as tangled and matted as those with tighter curled hair.

  • I don't have tight curls, your right, but regardless of the curl pattern, ANYONE can take down their locs. I knew I could comb mine out because I witnessed people with the "nappiest" of hair comb theirs out. Conditioner, Patience and a sharp object is all you need.

  • Some say that while you can take out your locs, you can lose alot of your hair due to breakage and you would have many split ends and damaged hair.

  • You're right about split ends and breakage and I did, but I also was sure to give myself a good trim afterwards. As far as loosing hair, there was tons of shed hairs that came out. As we lose on average 100 hairs through shedding, which is healthy, multiply that times however many days a person kept there hair loc'd. There's going to be hair everywhere. There was no thinning and no major damage. Feel free to look at my other videos, esp. "I don't want no afro" to see my hair, without products.

  • how long were yu growing ur locks.. and and what length did you start them?

  • Less than a year. I'm not sure how long my hair was. Touching my shoulders i know. If you search righteousblackchic on youtube, that was my vlog with loc videos.

  • oh ok. ill check it out

  • i'm seriously considering taking my 6 yrs of locs down. but wish i had extra hands of help. most folks have been saying "DONT!". others are saying "YEA. FINALLY". but i know i want to stay natural and i would love to keep my length...but i know this process takes days. Do I have days to work on it? (I'm in between serious job hunting.... so i'm not sure). Your Video (and the others i'm finding) are very inspiring.

  • thats tight

  • thanks
