  • we also believe the Book of Mormon as far as it is translated correctly

  • The guy in the video, what's his name? Who is he in the LDS Church?

  • His name is Elder M. Russell Ballard. He is an apostle.

  • @lds9999 To be an apostle you would have had to known Christ as a disciple and then He would have had to pick you as an apostle

  • Its so good, to have living apostles and to know, that the bible is true and the word of god. I love the bible and its holy words.

We from the church of Jesus Christ should often remember it, that the bible is also our holy book.

  • Which LDS apostle was speaking about the Bible?

  • What a blessing it is to have the words of the ancient prophets of the eastern hemisphere. The Holy Bible truly is a miracle.

  • Apparently my last post did not make it.. Anyway, why doesn't the Utah church use Joseph Smith's "Inspired" Bible? They do reference it on their website.

  • blaseincognito,

"Anyway, why doesn't the Utah church use Joseph Smith's "Inspired" Bible? They do reference it on their website."

I am not sure where you get your information from, not from LDS sources therefore it is incorrect. We do use JS translations of the Bible and the preface of it tells how to use it.

  • The Church does "use" the inspired version.. but does not have it as part of its canon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not own the copy rights to publish it. The Reorganized Church does. Emma Smith, the prophets wife, had the entire translated version in her possesion at the time Joseph was killed. He never got it published. She gave it to people who then split off from the Church and they have the copy rights.

But we still use it.. everyday.

  • OK... I think.... So, which parts of the Bible are the corrupted ones?

  • OK, so why doesn't the Utah church use Joseph Smith's "Inspired" Version of the Bible? I see that they reference parts of it on their website...

  • 4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

  • 6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

    7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

    8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

  • 9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

    10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

  • 11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

    12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

  • 13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

  • lds9999, I sent this to a friend and after reading the description, they were wondering what the Articles of Faith were. Hope it's ok if I answer here.

In what has come to be known as the Wentworth letter, Joseph Smith, Jr. wrote and sent a list of the basic beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to "Long" John Wentworth, editor of the Chicago Democrat, in 1842. These articles of faith were subsequently published in Times and Seasons, a newspaper published by the church.

  • 1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

    2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

    3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

  • my favorite is

"If any of ye seek wisdom, let him ask of God" :)

  • That's always a great one!

26 But the Comforter, which is the bHoly Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

    John 14:26-27

  • Thanks for putting this message out there. Keep up the good work.

  • I too share my love for the Bible. The messages are so powerful, and to read the words of the Lord is simply amazing.
