  • Which documentary is this from? Vanishing Point?

  • lurid, a.

    (ˈl(j)ʊərɪd)

[ad. L. lūrid-us pale yellow, wan, ghastly.]

1.1 Pale and dismal in colour; wan and sallow; ghastly of hue. Said e.g. of the sickly pallor of the skin in disease, or of the aspect of things when the sky is overcast.

  • is not Fair that Loud reed say :Nico cant singing.Today we saw Nico and Velvet in a new Context. Lou Reed is a Alpha Typ, he cant nothing stand by him.

  • who can tell me what nico said in the video? po it up plz!!!

  • There's something so tragic about Nico. It always bothered me that she died just a few weeks before I was born. Granted, its unlikely that I ever would have met her, even less likely that I would have had any sort of meaningful friendship with her. Still, I guess there are just some people you feel some sort of connection with. Her mystique, her kindness and sensitivity, she really was one of a kind.

  • Where is this from? Is it from a full blown documentary on either Lou Reed or the Velvets as a whole?

  • @Bickieundspielen this is take nfrom a documentary on Nico called Nico Icon, by Susanne Ofteringer

  • Lou WAS beautiful. Still is.

  • Is this part of a longer documentary? It seems very interesting and I've never heard their sides of the VU legend.

  • Great looking Nazi bitch with very little talent. If she'd looked like Mama Cass and had the same voice and mental equipment, we wouldn't be discussing her now. Blah.

  • @The0Endless0Thread

"Great looking Nazi bitch". Dir Pissnelke hat wohl einer ins Hirn geschissen. Fick deine Mutter, Du verkommener Penner.

  • @666RAINER666

    Have some sour cabbage, Kumpel...?

  • @The0Endless0Thread Du kleiner Stricher kannst mich am Arsch lecken.

  • "He was so beautiful"

    Him?

  • @Joe22c LOL some guys have all the luck hahaha

  • I'd subscribe, but You Tube won't let me. I get this message whenever I try: 'You have too many subscriptions compared to your number of subscribers.' (Quote.) So, I contacted them and asked if they were aware that I kept up with my subscriptions. They said, 'No, but if you drop some of your subscriptions you can add more.' WTF? Anyway, thank you for posting this:)

  • I just realized that in the first few photos of this video Nico is wearing a "psychedelic" shirt that Jimi Hendrix gave to Lou Reed once. Reed wears it in some Velvet Underground photos (in the book Up-Tight, for instance), John Cale wore it in the video of Sunday Morning here on YT, and now it's clear that Nico wore it too! Some shirt, man, it adorned many a legendary Rockstar! I wonder what happened to it, it should be in a museum, and probably it is!

  • What documentary is this from, i would love to see the rest

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this documentation, please?

It's an realy interesting thing and in german! that's rarely!

    (sorry for my english)

    thank you!

  • What mankind of heroin junkie is someone who only cares about his hair style and his wife and always needs to another person who really does for his life style.

The mirror of Nico was not Lou reed but Alain Delon who only did about his good looks without any drugs. He is real God damn.

  • nico, partizan belgrad, universitatea craiova, nick cave, the pogues, manchester city, the clash, terry hall

  • Thanks for posting this. I was friends with Nico & she didn't have a lot of good to say about Lou Reed, unike John Cale, whom she really admired & cared about. Once, in the '70s, Nico was in New York at Reed's apartment, she had a heroin habit, & Reed went out & locked her in for ages, knowing fully well that she would go sick, & if you know what that's like, you know that it's the sort of thing you wouldn't wish to your worst enemy, never mind subjecting a friend to that kind of pain on purpose

  • was he trying to help her kick the habit?

  • @solwolfpunk

Perhaps... you should ask him! Lou Reed was a rabid amphetamine addict, up to 1979-80, a drug that in my opinion fucks you up worse than heroin (it is a totally different type of substance, of course). I couldn't finish the story for space reasons, but - if I remember correctly - Nico was rescued by Patti Smith. Once, when Nico didn't have an harmonium anymore (very expensive & fragile instrument), Patti Smith bought one for her. She's a kind soul, but that's obvious I guess...

  • @kidcalabria My brief interactions with Nico, when she did a solo bit at the Dom after the EPA, was that she was very kind and allowed me to film her with my half-broken 8mm camera.

  • @pugcharlie

I'm not surprised, she was a kind soul, although I met her 20 years after you, and probably in less musical & favourable surroundings. I hope you'll post the product of your labours with your half-broken 8mm camera, if you haven't already done so : )

  • Respond to this video...

Respond to this video...my original footage has been donated to the Warhol in Pittsburg but I hold copyright. I'd rather not upload it here but would upload a few stills but I don't see how to upload a still.

  • @kidcalabria That is a horror story! How horrible. I loved Nico. I have never heard of anything so cruel. Here I am watching the Undergroud videos, praising up Reed and he did that to a human being? Wow ! Are you sure? Changed my view. thank you.

  • @lisaleelee10

Well, I'm sure you know not to confuse the artist with the man. Lou Reed has the reputation of someone with a difficult personality & can appear like a cranky, miserable so-and-so, but that's because he's a genius condemned to live in a world made mostly of mediocrities. Just think that although The Velvets made great records you couldn't even find them in shops, & nobody dreamt of asking them to play Woodstock! Berlin, a masterpiece, was put down by critics & public in 1973!

  • @kidcalabria Thank you for those thoughts. I always loved Lou Reed and hated to think of him as unjust and cruel. Your words made me look at a bigger picture.

  • @lisaleelee10

You're welcome. I don't think Lou Reed is a saint, but then nobody is perfect. I'm sure he values the idea of compassion. The episode I recounted is only one in a tense relationship between Reed and Nico. Berlin's Caroline was based on her. They had an affair during The Velvets' days. Maybe he thought he was doing the right thing, or maybe it was the result of an argument between ex-lovers. We can't judge

  • @kidcalabria Great logic right there. It's not like there have been any brilliant people who were also nice to the so called "mediocrites". Prick. Do you also use the word "sheeple"?

  • @kidcalabria "but that's because he's a genius condemned to live in a world made mostly of mediocrities" omg this is hilarious xD

  • @leguminoso Isn't it just? David Bowie said that of Lou Reed, I was quoting him but couldn't specify it for reasons of room in the comment box. I invite you to discuss it with Bowie, so you can laugh together about it : )

  • @kidcalabria What a load of crap. You're either nice or a bastard. A genius who lived in a..... That's like saying my son is super intellegent and is ADHD and a little this and that. You are what you are. Lou Reed probably is genius and asshole, so what. But don't look for excuses.

  • @TheodoreChell No excuses, just wrote what I know, without taking it too seriously, for I don't think of the YT comments as the ideal space for debate. But, anyway, usually people who create great art have also a great heart. Lou Reed's attitude is often a 'put on', especially in the 1970s when he first became known, & not to be taken too seriously either, & like Bowie, Jagger, Dylan, Iggy Pop, he also went thru different "personas". Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion, like everybody else

  • @kidcalabria Lou sucks.

  • @mmasny

Does he? I don't think you really believe that, otherwise you wouldn't have visited this page. I'm not sure if your judgement is about the Rockstar or the man, but either way maybe you should re-think your appreciation of his music, & have some compassion for an old man with failing eye-sight & crippling arthritis, who, all considered, has given to the world a lot more than the record-buying public has given him. But, of course, you're entitled to your opinion, & I'm not his secretary!

  • @kidcalabria Do my failing erection and crippling laziness make my point more legitimate?

  • @kidcalabria You wre friends with wit Lou and Nico? In the clip she says she fell in love with him,so why yousay she hasn't talked good about Lou?m Lou himself was an addic.I don't really get the story of putting her to cold tuekey when he was on smack either..He lost interest in her very fast is told maybe she talked bad about him cause of that.Have you met Andy or William S.Burroughs? It'very interesting to me.Maybe you can answer..

  • @rentalife I only knew Nico & for a little while. I'm not sure if Lou Reed was really ever a heroin addict, I think amphetamines were his drug of choice.. the story goes that Nico had an affair with Lou Reed in the early days of The Velvets, and then she had an affair with John Cale, which obviously created tensions between Reed & Cale, in fact a year or so later Cale left the band. Nico worked with Cale, but with Reed never again.. lovers sometimes end up hating each other, as I'm sure you know

  • @kidcalabria But Nico DID work with Lou again. On demos for Chelsea Girl (the Bedroom tapes) and live at La Bataclan in the early seventies.

  • @justnicknet The story I was referring to happened 'round '74... they never worked together again after that, Chelsea Girl was recorded in '67, right after she stopped singing with The Velvets and touring with the Exploding Plastic Inevitable, at a time when they were all still frequenting Andy Warhol's factory. And the Bataclan gig was a one off. Lou Reed only strummed an acoustic guitar behind her for a couple of songs....

  • @kidcalabria Its the best thing you can do for a Heroin addict if you know there's enough food, its only way to give them rehabilitation.

  • @grunntalll Really? & do you really think that you can eat through withdrawal? Heroin & opiates have always existed & people who used them - from Marcus Aurelius to Wagner, Edith Piaf, Otto Von Bismarck, William Burroughs, Baudelaire, De Quincey, Coleridge, Jean Cocteau, Edgar Allan Poe, etc.. never had a problem with it, 'cause the problem it's not the drugs, it's the law. But you should suggest it to the World Health Organization, I'm sure every heroin-addict in the world will sign up for it!

  • @kidcalabria What a dick.
