That's happening because the wii remote contains a little infrared camera at the tip. The lights behind your TV might emit a bit of infrared spectrum this is all the wii remote needs to track its own location(only in game modes that actually use the pointer)
The sensor bar emits two points of infrared light and nothing else. It does not send any information back to the Wii. Anything that emits infrared light will work as a 'sensor bar'.
Two candles, two lightbulbs (the old kind, not fluorescent), even two people holding TV remote controls with a button held down would do it.
this has probably been answered by now, but im guessing its either the robot thing ontop of your tv that emmits Infrared waves or the lights thats close to your TV, the sensorbar doesnt send any info to the Wii, its actually just there to have a refrencepoint for the wiimote.
you have a y shaped infered box on top of your tv and the wii runs on infered that is how and it will be wireless automatically. pause the video about 25 to 26 seconds into it whatever is casting the bluish light in the black boxes im positive is infered. and the wii doesnt run off of light like some old games did like duck hunting and stuff around the time of the n64
That looks to me like a Robosapien and some weird reflection. I think it could be the lights that you see in the ceiling at about 1:05 getting hot. Although I may be wrong. it depends on how hot they get and if they were hot at the time. (to me that solves the phenomenon with sitting down, the lights are hidden by the TV)
It might be that robot thing on your TV, it looks like it's emitting IR, or it could just be random lights that your wiimote is picking up, but you probably know this by now :)
The sensor bar isn't a sensor bar at all. The Wiimote does all the "sensing". The sensor bar is just an IR Transmitter and the Wiimote use those signals to triangulate where the hand thingy is on your screen.
You must have something that is transmitting heavy IR off the T.V. screen for it to be working like that.
Its like what Wiibuilder said, if you have anything else that the is infra-red light that the wii mote sense, then it still would work. just like with candles.
The "sensor bar" isn't really a sensor bar at all, it's just a few infra-red LEDs (LED lights that are invisible to the human eye)... that lets the infra-red camera in the Wii controller "see" where the "sensor bar" (and therefore the TV) is... you can replace it with candles, or get TV remote controls to work instead. Basically, there must somewhere be a couple sets of IR light coming from below or above the TV, like LinkManiac710 said. But yeah, if your sensor bar ever breaks.. use candles! :)
my solution to this mystery: Two lights are being reflected off of the television screen and the wii remote is responding to them as if they were the lights in the sensor bar. So the wii remote works.
the wiimote has dat movement thing u use in some mini games like tilting and racing dats wt i think it is..,i only just fount out this on my wii 20 mins ago so i fough ide search it up lol g.b

There is an infrared light source near the TV. It may be remote controls pointed toward you, candles, or bright lights.
