hey guys try cleaning and pressing a sandbag or odd object when you dont have grip. the form wont be exact as that or a barbell. there is very little grip on a sandbag.
it is very difficult to pick a sandbag from the ground and clean it without the pull process. esp when dealing with 100+ pounds. pls go perform a few clean and press with a 100+ lb sandbag and record your form ;)
looks fun, isn't this more like a continental and jerk though? I thought the clean was named after the "clean" motion of bringing the weight from the ground to your shoulders.
he also didnt use like any leg when pulling, if he soley pulls with his back he will strain it with continuous "bag work" main muscle used in a clean and jerk is your legs.
@DarkSights Actually, keeping the legs bent like he did works the hamstrings and the low back, there's no other way to lift odd implements and the leg drive in the full squat to standing position would actually thrust the sandbag up. That's how they can pop it on the platforms. To simulate this movement, go do a Zercher deadlift then come back and tell me all about the non-evident leg drive ~sarcasm~
@anvilorhammer Nice lapping of the sandbag, that's exactly how the strongmen do it and I especially like the way you thrusted up to your chest, similar to the way Samuelsson does it in one continuous motion from the lap to the chest.
sandbags are a lot of fun. Be careful about over doing with with gym lifts and sandbags on off days, you can wreck you back and hips doing that if you aren't very conscious of your recovery.

Not a correct clean and jerk. Ground to chest in one continuous motion. Just sayin'.

for the purpose of heavy, odd objects, this is adequate, if we were talking about barbells, I would totally agree.

'tisn't true, there's a good bit of posterior chain at work there. With odd objects it's a very different ballgame. You should try it.
