Another reason that the identity of an author colors the work is because when an irish person writes about irish people it is understood that they are describing other elements of the same set and therefore the emphasis is placed on the description. When the author is not of the set they are describing, the unstated emphasis is placed on the set being described.
@tegid699 now now my dear troll, let people be: some are tortoise and some are hare, but we all feel the same love and sadness, hope and joy. Tolerance is a beautiful thing :)
Didn't think it was dull. I thought it was simple. You had an entire alphabet to explore over twenty sides of Stephen Fry. I liked the format. It put the subject front and centre.
My one disappointment from this, and its not Stephen's fault, is that Hugh Lauire "M'Colleague" was not brought up as a letter. He's such a big part of Stephen's life. And they could have done it with H,F,C(comedy),T(television),W(wodehouse..as in jeeves and wooster),A(a bit of fry and laurie).
A wonderful man with language that slips off his tongue so sweetly and superbly that every syllable is hung onto deeply by those who listen. He is an extraordinary man. Not only has he mad us laugh with his comedy, but he's exposed the inner workings of himself to show and help others with similarities to himself (such as his bi polar and sexuality). Mr. Fry I commend you, for your service to television and to every single person who's ever been touched by you.
This Alphabet is an education

"tolerance is a beautiful thing" + "my dear troll" ...?
The interviewer is, in my opinion also, not very good and quite affected but at least it increases Fry's talking time.

But oh well. It was still fabulous.

I am never "shatteringly bored" when listening to Stephen Fry. He's so intelligent and so entertaining.
