We filmed this with a crappy DV camera, edited the footage on Final Cut Pro, did the lightsabre effects on After Effects, and mixed the sound on Soundtrack Pro. The "rotoscoping" process was divided into 4 people (half on Mac, half on Windows) to speed up the process.
it was alright, ive seen better though. your major problem was you were guessing where you were hitting when you filmed this. I'd recommend adding actual tubes to the end of the light sabors so you have "A guide" to what you are looking when adding the light sabor effect later on and it will give you the oppertunity to focus on the actual fight choreography.
The lightsabers were actually made with PVC piping. We were smacking each other pretty hard and actually aiming to hut each other (I got a pretty bad bruise on my knee when I failed to properly block a strike.) There is an actual blade in each lightsaber, which in post production was covered with the nice glow effect.
yeah the saber effect was great. only thing u gotta work on is choreography, then it add's more eye candy which is what most of these saber videos have. BTW, what program did you use for the sabers? Adobe After Effects?
Pretty good. The flashes are a little off of the lightsaber when they start to disapate. Need to adjust that so they are still on a lightsaber. But all in all... it was good, may want to speed it up a little though.
Not bad... but not the greatest on choreography. Some targets are being aimed at--but mostly, the actors are too slow. This looks like worry that they might actually connect... WHICH means the combat system is severely flawed.
If you want something *LIVE*... let's do it RIGHT. ;)
