  • Has anyone heard Peter Green playing Silent Night? It is easily equal to this lovely song, and the Sax in it is, Well all I can say is, give it a try. It is'nt on You-tube, but if you have an Media Converter, get it off of there. Well worth the effort. I use the LEGAL conversion Wizard. Hope to see some replies from some of you.

  • It's been too long since I last listened to this.

  • After all the years this is still my Favourite instrumental

  • over and over and over and over repeat

  • I was a student in 1968 and I remember playing this over and over again on the juke box. Great music still.

  • if you've never let your dreams go free, now there's a slight chance you do it on an albatross.but get ready for trips far far away, north atlantic, south pacific, the arctic circle too...

  • beautifully done !

  • how can anyone dislike this????????

  • i love my thrash metal but i LOVE this track even more

  • my Karaoke tune

  • Saw them live in Bangor N Wales and they played Albatross. Sensational! An experience never to forget. Lost my Wrangler jacket, lost my boyfriend but the memory of the music is still alive!

  • 23 PERSONS ARE JUSTIN BIEBERS FANS!!!

  • This isn't just food, This is food from a freeze... This Is M&S

  • 22 people shop at Waitrose.

  • Wonderful tone of play.... to make the instrument the star so completely is true mastery. Superb backing also.

  • My best friend died on 24 Sept 2011, and was played out to this song. He was a wonderful man and I will never forget him as long as I live. God bless you Bob. Your memory will live forever mate. Rest in peace my friend.

  • I hope this comment isn't too grim but I think I just found the tune I want played at my funeral.

  • one of my ifols is mr peter green

  • It's slightly unsettling to think that Peter Green, the composer of this sweet relaxing song, would soon have a nervous breakdown.

  • @JRR951 Too many heavy drugs I'm afraid.

  • i would love to dance this at my wedding and played this on fender stratocaster like peter green and played also a black gibson guitar

  • i just liked this song and specially peter green who has a skil play guitar

  • VERY nice music

  • When this single was first played on radio before release, I fell in love with it. Money was tight, I only had half a crown pocket money a week. Couldn't afford to buy the record, so ordered it for 1st day of release and went without school dinners all week to buy my very first record, and it is still brill. love it.

  • @maryhairyarse also my first record purchase, if my memory is correct it cost seven shillings and sixpence (37.5p today)!

  • @Joshl1731 LOL

  • 21 dislikes..................Fuck off!!!!! how can anyone dislike one of the greatest songs ever written ????

  • @Steviesquire /sigh/ People who have no taste in music are the ones who disliked it, no need to go insane over it.

  • I first listened this on Man On Wire and it got me to the core of my heart!!!

  • 2 59's each playing 2 chords.

    I miss REAL Fleetwood Mac...

  • Throughout the whole song, only 2 chords are used. Pure magic.

  • Needs a heavy drum solo in the middle... apart from that a decent track

  • Albatross. (Fleetwood Mac). One of the greatest instrumental tracks of all time. A beautiful, haunting and thought invoking piece of music

  • some people might not like this song. however retarded they may be. but by the same token they have the right to dislike it. stop wasting comment space waxing lyrical about the people who dont like it. doing that is going against the atmosphere of this nice song.

  • Does anyone know which album this song is on?

    Thanks.

  • @markf237 albertross features on compilation albums the pious bird of good omen(uk) and english rose(usa) pontyrob.

  • 21 people don't know what an Albatross is.

  • It's just so relaxing and calming.

  • sets me on a sereal drift

  • so cool

  • I hate adverts for ruining music for me, all i can think of is that bloody M&S advert whilst listening to thsi!

  • I met Peter Green a few weeks back, in a well known Guitar shop. Could'nt believe my luck. Definitely Britains BEST Blues player ever. His version of Leaving Town Blues with Rory Gallagher blows your brain out. Amazing.

  • @mr1168726 Got a link MR?

  • @dwils4230 I'm sorry but I dont understand what you want. If you mean, "can the song be found on Youtube", unfortunately no, but if you have a Media Converter ( I use the legal Conversion Wizard ), then you can get this particular song off of there.Hope this is what you meant. If you hav'nt listened to Rory Gallagher before, go on YTube and listen to "goin to my hometown or Bullfrog Blues. He is great, no wonder him & Greeny hooked up. Hope this has helped you mate, if not, get back in touch.

  • @mr1168726 That's still illegal, even if the piece of software says "legal" on it, no money is going to the original artists

  • @stevendodd2009 Does it really matter mate? they are all rich anyway.

  • @mr1168726 B

Really sorry to read you lost a best pal.

Couldn't have gone on a sweeter note than this. RiP your pal.

  • @stevies5 Nice sentiment Mate, but I think you meant to send your nice reply to the person above my comment. Take care Eh?

  • @mr1168726

Woops, glad you saw what I did and thanks for your response.

  • This truly is one of those pieces of music that can make me stop whatever I'm doing and appreciate what I have and what a beautiful world this really is. Thumbs up to another group of timeless, talented artists !!

  • sounds like the sun king

  • Like if you're stoooooooooooned :)

  • Takes miming to a whole new level.

  • Peter Green is well known for being great, but what about Danny Kirwan? Him and Izzy Stradlin have to be the to most underrated RHYTHM guitarist’s ever.

  • フリートウッド・マック"英吉利の薔薇"から、叙情曲"アルバトロス"だ!ジェレミーもダニーも、そしてピーター・グリーン、3派鴉が揃ってるネ!(涙)

  • This song is one of my earliest memories of watching Top of the Pops! Showing may age now....

  • Not only did this reach UK no.1 when released in 1968, it also reached no.2 when re-issued in 1973. Lovely sound.

  • this song inspired john lennon when he wrote sun king from abbey road

  • @haveone ,yes this truelly is haunting

  • still brings thrill chills after 40 some years...I' love to set this up as an all day listen. I still have an old cassette that I used to play only this song as I went about my work on the Reservations around Grants New Mexico,in the 1990s; I'll never forget the feeling of one late Autumn afternoon; 2 lane rode, leaves were golden,Aspens even more so,trees in some places cathedraled the road heading west to Zuni on 53, near Ramah,;this was the most perfect site & sound together...AWESOME

  • 21 persons needs words to feel...

  • just beautiful simply love it great sound thankyou mythras90x

  • no words needed, absolutely stunning : )

  • what a beautifully gentle song. it just soothes the soul.

  • why in the hell is this listed as fleetwood mac??? may be there song def not FM though

  • @samajones13 This is listed as Fleetwood Mac because it was recorded by Fleetwood Mac back in '69 when Peter Green was with them. At the time, they were more blues-rock than anything else. In the '70s their sound changed (a LOT). Elisa

  • I defy you to name a more soothing, peaceful song. Elisa

  • @erscott13 sleepwalk santo and johnny...but really its the same..just surf music

  • @baliscotsurf , Well . . . Sleepwalk is equally soothing maybe : ) Elisa

  • First heard this as a very young child and as then , I still think it is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard!

  • @AnAutumnsDay If ever there were a life changing piece of music. The tranquility... sublime pleasure in 3 minutes. It could go on ad infinitum for me.

  • pure art this is music at its best the language of the emotions, peter green is a sweet soul

  • I love this song. It is perfect for all moods. There is just something so mysterious and magical and lovely and beautiful about this song. I can't help but leave it on repeat for like 45 minutes.

I want this played at my funeral.

I also love how happy peter green looks in this video, you just cant keep that smile of his face.

  • like? where is the worship button :)

  • @PerimirK hahaha...great comment... i like this song 2

  • @PerimirK damned right, this DESERVES a worship button

  • a certain advert totally ruined this song for me

  • @ste8Utube Every once in while the all the elements, known and unknown, come together and line themselves in a way to create that reaches deep in to the collective unconscious of the human race. These elements cannot be duplicated, replaced, repeated, hastened or delayed. It is a onetime chance. This song is one of those times. The song is timeless.

  • @ste8Utube not just any advert...a M&S advert ;-)

  • now thats what ya call chill out music , boooootifull

  • Delightful. Peter Green is a pioneer! Just ask Pink Floyd.

  • Totally chillout.

  • it was released dec 1968 then rereleased again in 1973 @ supersesqui

  • Just BEAUTIFULL. reminds me of my dad-we love fleetwood mac

  • One of lifetimes masterpieces

  • @toolblox

released as a single in 1969, later featuring on the compilation albums The Pious Bird of Good Omen (UK) and English Rose (USA). The piece was composed by Peter Green.

  • One of the very few instrumentals that don't make me tear up... <3

  • Amazing. Makes my cry :( . This is better than studio version. Greetings from Poland for all beautiful music fans. Sorry for my ort.

  • This is such a calming beautiful song and definetely one of the best instrumental songs I've ever heard!!

  • Even the post-'75 Mac often (usually/always?) plays this song after the concert and the lights come on. Kind of an ode to the old days and absolutely a pleasant, airy tune to collect your thoughts to as you leave. I'm a big fan of the post-'75 Mac, but in searching out their stuff came across a LOT of the pre-'75 Mac gems. I'd urge other fans of the "popular" Mac to search out the roots of the group. And while you're at it, try to locate the 'Buckingham Nicks' albums as well. :)

  • best guitar peice written

  • The music is great, but they aren't playing music in the clip.....

  • This is an all time favourite of mine. It's so different from the rest of Fleetwood Macs' music. In fact I don't listen to anything else they've made.

  • Two choc-ices please.

  • Some crazy drumming there!

  • peter green created the fleetwood mac sound that still exists today , one of the most special artists in the world . carlos santana owes him a debt , for he got his start playin , peter greens black magic woman .

  • Blue Jays- Peter Green's Watch Out & Big Bad World. ---search this its a video of us playing one of peter greens songs watch out take one at a gig we're all only 16 but big Peter Green fans thanks we have a band original in the same video after watch out

  • i first heard this as a seven or eight ear old child and instantly was hooked. i am now 49 and this still takes me far away in my imagination. waves crashing against the shore. wow .

  • just realised is this not in the marks & spencer advert or something?!

  • M&S ruined this for me

  • @rosso5792 lol

  • @rosso5792 Your comment is pure crap!

  • @rosso5792 Thanks... I really need to think of you reposing blissfully on the can every time I hear Fleetwood Mac. May an albatross in the same mood fly o'er ye.

  • @rosso5792 that wasnt just a dump that was an M & S dump :)

  • I can't believe people would not like this.. Its amazing.. Should not be any dislikes to this piece..

  • im into megadeth and maiden but is this one of the best bands in the world or what?

  • This is good but would have been much better if they were actually playing!

  • i was almost convinced that they were playing this live until i saw mick miss quite a few cymbal strikes near the end.

but you know what is great? seeing peter smile so much while he plays this. hes obviously doing what he loves and has a great time doing it. thats what being a musician is all about.

  • i was almost convinced that they were playing this live until i saw mick miss quite a few cymbal hits near the end.

  • this song brings me to tears.

  • DANNY KIRWAN IS AMAZING

  • its great to see a bunch of musicians taking making a beautiful song music so seriously and then seein them smile when they know its coming out just right.

  • @HSECMAN amen

  • this is yummy !

  • This tune was more popular than the Beatles in England @ the time.

  • quite possibly my fav song :)

  • Why do they have a zombie as a drummer?

  • @qwert1238a That 'zombie' is Mick Fleetwood!

  • @JollyGraham I know, I just think he looks funny in this video. I love the band!

  • On road trips as a kid we would listen to Fleetwood Mac all the time. It was the only band we all liked. I love them to this day!

  • stonasos¡¡¡¡

  • This is not just a song, this is an amazing song

  • Fleetwood Mac's flawless cover of chuck berry's "Deep Feeling". I have loved them both for just about my entire life :)

  • When I hear music from the 70's I realise our generation was the last intelligent pop music officianardo's!

  • these guys are sooooo stoned

  • nothing to say, just listening and dreamin

  • I love the beatles ,however these guys were way ahead of them

in how mature their melodies were.I'd like to go out with this tune ,

    free and soaring. Lovely!

  • @tailor7793 Way ahead of the Beatles huh? What the heck does that even mean?? Are you at all familiar with any of the Beatles music?!

  • @panatela001 you know its funny you say that because i could i say the same thing to you. have you heard peter greens fleetwood mac. This was the beatles favorite band and they asked them to join apple records. Have you ever heard sun king??? Sound familiar??this is not way ahead of the beatles but is a very experimental song and band, Way ahead of many bands

  • @diatroptoff94 Of course I've heard of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, thats what this video is! Its great stuff. Peter Green is one of the greats. And yeah, I know about the Sun King connection... All I'm saying is that Beatles albums are LOADED with unbelievable melodies, and I don't know of any others who really compare to them in the melodies department. But, yeah I agree, this band is great and most people don't realize that they began as a blues outfit.

  • This was played at my dads funeral. He loved Peter Green. Amazing on a guitar

  • peter green was a genuis on guitar

  • l love this track, beautiful music to be played at your brothers funeral

    thanks for putting this up

  • This is not just any song....

This is a beautiful fleetwood mac song :)

  • I have this on an old 45 rpm record, love this song, thanks for posting it

  • Amazing, AMAZING song and video clip!!! In North America it only "Bubbled Under" at #104 (real-time Mar. 30, 1969) while in the U.K. it made #1 (r.t. Jan. 26, 1969) and #2 (re-issue, r.t. Jun. 17, 1973)... Why it never made the Hot 100 I'll never know! I can't thank you enough for posting this!!!

  • I wrote the words to this!

  • this was played at my brothers funeral at christmas..... he was a lifelong fan of this and so are we :)
