as a fisherman of the Bering sea for 8 years now i must say most flat fish grow very fast and reproduce in vast quantities and if you want us to stop working then pay for our college to train for another job or as the guy said below buy our boats and pay us to do something else unlike most of you behind your computers we work 16 and a half hours a day everyday while we are out there a normal contract for me is 4 months long i put in more hours in one contract then most people work in a year

When I first went fishing we used to go out and caught whatever species was there to be caught, then came home when we had enough to get a wage. Now conservationists tell us what we can catch so we go out fishing and dump most of it over board and keep catching and dumping until we have enough of what species they say we can keep to make a viable trip. as a fisherman of the Bering sea for 8 years now i must say most flat fish grow very fast and reproduce in vast quantities and if you want us to stop working then pay for our college to train for another job or as the guy said below buy our boats and pay us to do something else unlike most of you behind your computers we work 16 and a half hours a day everyday while we are out there a normal contract for me is 4 months long i put in more hours in one contract then most people work in a year

When I first went fishing we used to go out and caught whatever species was there to be caught, then came home when we had enough to get a wage. Now conservationists tell us what we can catch so we go out fishing and dump most of it over board and keep catching and dumping until we have enough of what species they say we can keep to make a viable trip. Completely insane but we dont make the laws, we have to abide by them. Then you get clowns like Greenpeace saying were overfishing the seas.

Look, benthic species live on coral reefs, rocky bottoms, etc. That's where bottom trawling occurs (where the fish live)... I was put out of business by GP (who are a limited company, check it out) when they stopped tuna driftnetting in the eastern atlantic assited by lobbying from the spanish fishing interests, who are well known for using small mesh sizes to catch illegally undersized fish. It is just a business for them, supported by well meaning but uninformed do-gooders.
