For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables" (2 Timothy 4:2-4).
Illegal immigrants are replacing all the aborted fetuses! Oh no! We're all turning brown!
Seriously this is perfect for the huckster it sounds all biblical. "The babies were slaughtered then the brown people covered the land" Huck 1 : 1-0 :
First off Roe vs. Wade was found under pretty false pretenses and has been pushed even further to include partial birth abortion. Which, I'm not even religious and I will say is pretty damn evil. Secondly, Roe came back later and is now an anti-abortion activist.
Some of us, including Mike Huckabee, try to love like Jesus loves, wanting for everybody what Jesus promised all of us, eternal life, offering us redemption through his precious blood shed for all of us.
It is unwise to mock those who make great sacrifices for us, be they the Son of God or the followers of His Son, because when we later ultimately see how much it cost others to hope to spare us, we have to live with the nagging consequences of our sadness for our inappropriate arrogance.
Dawn..."unwise to mock those who make great sacrifices for us"? Sorry, but I fail to see Huckabee's great sacrifices. Perhaps it was great hardship to vacation on Grand Cayman Island in the name of the Son of God? I believe it is also unwise to break God's 3rd commandment to Moses, and use God's name to vain ends. It's offensive to my Christian principles when someone such as Huckabee attempts to further their personal political goals via boasting their religious viewpoints.
I absolutely disagree with your final claim that he used his religious viewpoint to further his personal political gain.
His trip to the Grand Cayman Island was not a vacation, either.
Huckabee's great sacrifices are too great to list here.
And I fail to see how Huckabee used God's name to "vain ends."
Am sorry your Christian principles are so different from mine. But that's what makes America so "great": a million different, often erroneous versions of Christianity.
Dawn-thx for your reply. No need to be sorry that our views differ. I'm not. We just understand things differently. I hope you're not saying my view is "erroneous," or I'd have to lose respect for your view. I'd believe Huckabee if he devoted his life to serving others rather than use religion as a prop for elected office. We're told true religion is taking care of the widows & fatherless. I'd rather he claimed no religion & served others rather than boasting abt his faith for ambition's end.
wow these backwoods, tobacco chewing rednecks have internet capabilities, they also think they have the majority here, dang nabbit thats good stuff, thanks for the laughs hill billies!!
HUCKABEE IS THE AMERICAN VERSION OF HITLER, FUELED BY HATE!!
Huckabee won over Semi literates voters by making them believe Jesus Christ sent him to rule the planet earth ;urban cities in West Virginia for example...DUH
I find the comments suggesting that Christians should join together against Muslims extremely disturbing. Just look at the history of religious wars, they don't work out so well. 100 years war, the crusades, just to scratch the surface. If you want to change someone's opinion or faith doing at the end of a blade or the barrel of a gun doesn't tend to do it. Just look at how many people have been executed rather than denounce their faith, The Spanish Inquisition is a great example.
Uncle Huck is a fascist pig wrapped in the cloak of the pages from that book they call the bible. He has nothing to do with America and the Constitution--Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Payne, Ben Franklin, Frederick Douglas--these people are America, not the fucking bible.
May GOD bless Mike Huckabee and may he win the Presidential election. All that I heard Mike Huckabee say is true. Unfortunately a lot is taken out of context and assumptions about Mike (w/o really knowing Mike or his real position on the issues) are made based upon a few random statements. Mike Huckabee is a good man NOT a radical cleric. He happens to be an honest man w/ values. Oh but the dramatic music and video theme sure does sound real good and make an interesting touch in this video.
Amen, Brother! I pray it is God's will for Mike to be the 44th President of the United States! You know, some say Jesus was a radical too, so I'm not so sure that would be a bad thing about Mike , if it were so.
Today, conservative Christian churches do superb work on poverty, AIDS, sex trafficking, climate change, prison abuses, malaria and genocide in Darfur.
Bleeding-heart liberals could accomplish far more if they reached out to build common cause with bleeding-heart conservatives.
go live in afghanistan or pakistan and you will change your opinion.. do christians anywhere in the world now stone or behead adulterers, enemies, converts to other religions, people who "blaspheme" Jesus? what about the rights of women in a Christian influenced America versus Radical Islamic countries--in Saudi Arabia women can't even drive cars.. you should join with Christians in confronting radical Islam
your fear of huckabee not obeying the constitution is totally illfounded.. he was governor of arkansas for 12 years? don't you think we'd find out if his character was like that?? spend your energy in better ways
fear socialism from hillary clinton <-that's to be feared
Hmmm...Clinton was the AK Gov--Did you know Uncle Bill and Bush Sr. sold guns to the contras in exchange for loads of cocaine that they transferred in Mena, AK and reaped 100's of $Millions?
May MIKE HUCKABEE WIN THE ELECTIONS IN JESUS CHRIST NAME AMEN BUT those so called elections are not going to happen because Bush is going to stay in power in the white house after he burns the .............
separation of church and state in the constitution protects us... what are you really afraid of? a constitutional amendment that upholds the sanctity of human life?
What scares me is that Huckabee and his ilk do not BELIEVE in the separation of church and state. Huckabee has called for amending to constitution to match "gods law".
it amazes me the irrational fear of the non religious of religious christian leaders... it's not like they even compare to radical muslims... it would be better spent energy to fight in all your power against radical islam....that is the antithesis to the separation of church and state we have because of jefferson..
woah woah... i support separation of church and state and agree with thomas jefferson in his inquiry of religious texts.. but be damned if you don't allow a pastor to run for public office.. and you should be ashamed of yourself for attaching "taliban" to american christians.. that's disgusting and the furthest from the truth.. no one is attacking our constitutional form of government.. you're hyperparaonid like those crazies who think Bush is going to try to stay in office by martial law..
well said grey fox, i think this thing would gain voters for huckabee. this makes no sense. if mike huckabee's enemies are this dumb, then I think we see the obvious choice: Mike Huckabee. Don't choose dumbness.
This video makes no sense..you have on it "supports stopping illegal immigration by jailing abortion doctors"..what? How does jailing abortion doctors affect immigration in any way?? That makes no sense at all. And he never called for quaranting homosexuals...ugh.
everyone who votes democrat is gay. and have no regard for human life. democrats stand for everything that is evil. they provide a few union jobs and swear they're for the workin man so that is all they have standing for them is the union. so VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE
It's interesting how the video editors have spliced in the Crucifixion scene from 'Passion Of The Christ' with soundbites from Huckabee (I guess propaganda is alive and well in 2008). Remember prior to the release of 'Passion' in 2004, liberal organizations were decrying the movie, saying that a tremendous surge of anti-semitism was going to sweep America?!? Did anybody hear ANY apology from these organizations for their miserably poor predictions?
Why is the marxist/liberal Blumenthal opposed to impeachment of judges who abuse their powers? Checks and balances apply to all branches of government including the judicial branch. Is Blumenthal also opposed to presidential impeachment in the executive or expulsion of members of the legislative branch? This is a typical tactic used by marxists to demonize Huckabee- not for his policy ideas but because he is a Christian. Post modernism/marxism loathes Christianity.
Boy the left is sure paranoid (!) As usual, Mr. Blumenthal pours all of his energies into making paranoid videos. What is he TRULY fearful of? Are evangelical Christians flying planes into buildings, blowing up cafes, murdering women and children, etc.? Fortunately, he's young - and one day will wake up and discern the difference between genuine EVIL and friendly people who may simply have a different theological perspective than him...
The left is "paranoid"? Why, because they prefer democracy over theocracy? Just because you're paranoid......
It is true that christians are not flying planes into buildings but they DO murder, Eric Rudolph anyone? Nah, I would say it is the "christians" that are paranoid and use fake outrage and act villified to gain sympathy. Biblical law is not compatible with the REAL law, the constitution.
The paranoia is represented by those who believe that a 'theocracy' will be ushered in if you elect an evangelical Christian into office - a complete absurdity...and you and I both know that Christians aren't doing the murdering here and abroad. That, of course, is common sense - but I guess, sadly, it has to be pointed out on occasion...
Funny how "christians" point out that they are not flying planes into buildings as their defense of theocracy. Terror comes in many forms. Biblical law is one of them. One only need to listen to Huckabee's own words to understand, wink wink what he means. I have fought in the middle east several times and know first hand the dangers of religious fundamentalists, I will fight again if it comes to my country, muslim OR christian.
It's interesting how liberals have their own, very narrow, way of thinking (large government, tax those who produce, teach ethics in the classroom - as long as the ethics aren't biblical, etc.) - a viewpoint that represents a 'secular fundamentalism.' The liberal orthodoxy of the day tolerates no other viewpoint - or just simply resorts to name-calling ('theocracy,' etc.)
Common nonsense? Is is Christians who are terrorizing the globe? Is it Christians who are blowing themselves up in cafes, killing dozens of people? Is it Christians who are terrorizing trains in Spain, murdering hundreds?...or attempting to blow up airplanes in Britian - after successfully ramming planes into buildings in New York and Washington, D.C.?....yes, there is such a thing as 'common sense'...
I would agree with you; the current spate of violence IS based upon religion. You then have to analyze - WHAT religious worldview is propagating the violence? To 'lump' in evangelical Christians with Islamic terrorists, simply because both have religiously fundamental viewpoints is disingenuous and dishonest. To me, the atheistic worldviews of Communism and Nazism committed the most atrocious acts of inhumanity in history.
Homosexuals have every right that I (as a heterosexual) do. Homosexuals CAN'T marry someone of the same-sex - but then, neither can I...and let's be real: Many Christians would love for Intelligent Design to be taught in the classroom alongside Evolutionary Theory. It's the evolutionists that REFUSE competing theories to be taught. The REAL zealotry is on the other side, not the side of the 'religious.'
i am fine with competing scientific theories being taught in schools ... unfortunately for you the "creation theory" doesnt pass the laugh test with regards to science.
please tell me how you would falsify the creation theory... after all in order for something to be scientific you need to be able to state how it could potentially be falsified.
I'm glad you're fine with competing scientific theories (as am I) - because many academics aren't. There are hundreds of scientists that support Intelligent Design; I'd think they'd be able to debunk any 'laugh test' and could answer how a theory could be falsified.
With regards to 'debunking' Intelligent Design, who's 'they?' There have been so many holes found within evolutionary thought within the last 10-15 years, that many scientists have had to reconsider their thinking. I'm not a scientist, so I can't defend/support ID - or Evolution, for that matter. It's not my area of expertise.
please point me to part of evolutionary theory that was "debunked" by ID proponents where evolutionary biologists have been unable to show via evidence that the so called "debunking" was a load of crap.
You may be right that an element of ID is 'reactionary' to evolution, but, at the same time, many evolutionists hold such a foothold to their theories that they are simply unwilling to look at any other evidence to the contrary. Ironically, several proponents of ID are NOT religious people, per say; they've simply come to the conclusion that the remarkable order to the universe points toward 'something' other than evolutionary progression.
"they've simply come to the conclusion that the remarkable order to the universe points toward 'something' other than evolutionary progression."
and again that is not evidence for creation or against evolution. that is what is known as an argument from personal incredulity.... and is a common logical fallacy.
Many internet sites have information about this. Charles Colson, a man I respect highly, has written many wonderful editorials on this subject. Search the words 'Breakpoint' and 'Colson' and then begin to look up commentaries on evolution and ID. Every commentary is footnoted with applicable articles on these topics.
ok i see quote mining...and some of the same flimsy arguments. and im not impressed that you are trying to use an op ed columnist as a resource.... will continue to look but so far im underwhelmed.. if you could get more specific in what you think is earth shattering evidence against evolution feel free to point me in the right direction.
Colson is not an 'op-ed columnist.' He's a Christian, but presents the Christian worldview better than anyone in the country - and his columns, particularly on the ID subject, are challenging and worth your time.
Adolf Huckabee opposes single-payer universal health care. The USA is 55th in infant mortality, is 76% Christian. Millions of babies who were actually born never made it to the age of one. USA health care system is a joke, and the Xtians don't care about babies...only fetuses. USA is #45 in the world in longevity. Its life expectancy is 10 years less than some other nations with socialized medicine. Is that pro-life?
Oh yeah, and I assume that means that you would like to wait for a year or better for what would be considered here an emergency surgery? That's what Canadians and Brits do. Either that or they come here to get it done faster. Ask Hillary about that! Her friend from Canada came to America to get surgery! She's never going to mention that one in her outcry for socialized medicine.
Half my relatives are Canadians. What you said about emergency surgery there is a untrue. You are just repeating a lie someone told you. All modern nations, except the USA have socialized medicine, because it works. Suckers in USA pay TWICE as much person for health care, and 47 million people are uninsured. Most of the insured aren't really covered, because insurance companies welch.
I'm not so sure either system is the optimum one, Pervis. I think there's a danger in any socialized program; however, the US system definitely needs a huge overhaul. I can't really speak about others as I haven't seen theirs in action, but I'd love to see a study on which country actually has the best.
The World Health Organization ranked the USA 37th in overall medical care. Socialized medicine has worked well in the real world. The nations above us on the list have socialized medicine. The whole point of it is that it is less expensive, and everyone is covered. Most European nations have it, and Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc. It works.
Thanks again, Pervis. I thought I'd heard something about that study. It seems to me, then, that if there are plenty of countries whose systems are better than ours, why not study the very best ones. Then we can pick and choose the best things from each program and make ours even better. It seems like THAT should be what a president would suggest rather than just making something up.
Actually, Ross Perot came to the same conclusion as you when he ran for President. He even recommended dividing the USA into 4 regions, and trying the best 4 systems. That way we could fine tune our system to be the most efficient. Perot was a multi-billionaire businessman. He was not stupid.
12 million of those 47 are illegals. They don't DESERVE heath insurance. Another 7 million make more than $80,000 per year. Any of those people that don't have insurance but have a car payment, internet access at their house, or a cell phone bill each month can't complain either because they've put those things in front of their health!
USA is paying for a Mercedes health care system, and getting a Chevy. Insurance and drug companies are screwing you, and you like it. If Americans are so dumb, then they are getting the system they deserve. Socialized medicine saves LIVES and money.
re: Pervis' "USA pay TWICE as much for health care."
I'd be curious about where you got that statistic from. It's not that I don't believe it, but I would want to make sure it takes into account the taxes paid towards health care in both countries; otherwise, there's no fair comparison.
A week ago, I saw Michael Dukakis on C-Span. He stated that $7,500 per person per year is spent in USA. Presumably, that includes out-of-pocket expenses, insurance and taxes. He said other nations with universal health care spend half as much. My relatives in Canada LOVE their free system, and look down on the USA. Michael Moore in Sicko stated Cuba spends 10% per capita what we spend.
Actually, the CIA has a website you can go to. It has a fact book. It lists the life expectancies of nations. We are #45. We live 10 years less than Andorra and Japan, which are #1, and #2. Some experts say that Infant Mortality is the best statistic to describe a nation's health care system. It is a simple fraction, that cannot be shaded. We are #55 in that. That I found on another site. Use a search engine to find infant mortality by nation.
Why not try a FREE MARKET solution? Socialism has never worked. There will be no incentive for doctors to put their all into their practice, and less incentive for drug researchers to put in extra hours trying to discover that next miracle drug! What a great society we'll have then!!!
The free market hasn't worked in the real world when it comes to health care. People will pay anything when they are sick. Dozens of other nations have better systems that are not free market. See above. Drug companies get most research money from government, according to Ralph Nader. China is producing 60 times more scientists per year than we are now. USA best days are in the past, sadly.
I used to think the government couldn't do anything right, and that the free market was better. Have you ever seen the film "Sicko?" It compares the USA system to others. Government did a good job on "Shock and Awe," as I recall. Prescription drugs are 10% to 40% the price we pay here, when I travel in other nations. Our money is being stolen in USA, but also our lives.
I haven't seen Sicko, yet, but I plan on it. I was curious about that one. I think a big part of the problem IS that our gov't is too big yet not protecting our rights and freedoms where it should. I think the entire election system should be revised.
I don't think we should allow any campaign contributions at all and no commercials. Instead, since the media has a public service agreement, they should allow all candidates a certain amount of time to make a short statement, then people can see their websites for more info. Instead of these ridiculous debates, they should be set up like REAL debates. I have more, but I think you get the idea.
So it's worrisome to you if someone attributes his success in life to divine providence? What are you a Nazi? And you seem more upset that Huckabee would oppose abortion than you do to the fact that millions of babies have died. You really are a Nazi. Huck is not a "theocrat." He believes we live in a secular country. But he also thinks religious people are people too and that they deserve a voice in politics. As a Nazi I doubt you'd understand that.
Hey Huckabee, everyone in the US isnt Christian. Wouldnt you say its quite selfish to impose ones own religious belief into whats supposed to be a free and independent government? I mean how are non Christians in the US going to get represented if Huckabee is in office? Are we going to have to take to the streets and fight for it since you are so hell bent on pressing more Christian values into our government?
lol 100 bucks says a ron paul nut made this and then got all his fanatical friends to write on this lol. that was pure spinning of everything. you liberals are funny got anything elsse up your sleves? lol bc that reeeeeaaallly hurt. no plz stop lol.
Huckleberry is an infectious tick on the ass of humanity's reason! He is another Jim Jones; he wants to BE your living GOD! He lost in SC so it must be GOD'S will; even God sees what a charlatan this goat-roper is. (smile)
Well, he seems consistent and unashamed to say what he beieves, I'll give him that. I'd rather that, than someone who plays the religion card while hiding something his sleeves. I'm still a Ron Paul fan, though.
The title "Radical Cleric" doesn't fit this message. "Candidate with Religious Persuasions" does. Nothing radical about what he is saying unless you (a) hate God and (b) disagree with all GOP. All I heard talking was a man with strong morals. His integrity scares many, but it encourages me that integrity is actually something still talked about in politics even after Clinton and Bush. Thank you for expressing your opinion, but please don't present this as if it is an actual political ad.
The Huckster is nothing more than a war mongering jackel with bad teeth. He steals Ron Pauls talking points but the sheeple that support him are to stupid to see it. Fuckleberry wants to stay in Iraq sending more of our young people to their deaths in the pursuit of oil while his obese sons live high on the hog in Dads mansion. He is a sly snake trying to slither into the oval office.
I see that you believe in the assumption that the "separation of church and state" is mentioned in the constitution. If this were actual, would one of the founders' first official actions have been to appoint an official government chaplain and another to open congress sessions with prayer? You are allowing your theological disagreement to turn into theological bigotry. Should a man now no longer be allowed into public office if he permits his faith an active role in his judgment?
The founding fathers would have been ashamed of your assertions and would be quoting you bible verses (while in office) to try to put some wisdom into your head. Are you a member of the crowd that condemns a Christian for attempting legislation that would defend an infant (no matter whose) from the alleged "right" to put a scalpel into their spine during pregnancy or otherwise, while rushing to defend the reputation of a sect whose theological views mandate that ALL non-followers
of Islam (including yourself, no matter how well-intentioned) must be put to death to purify the earth for their god? Just curious. You're right. The views of those who created the U.S. Constitution and fought for its birth were absolutely radical. I know that it wasn't your choice to be born in this country, but if you wish to be intolerant of those views, you are free to leave. Because due entirely to those radical views you apparently despise, it is after all, a free country.
Click on my username NatLamp to witness Huckabee in action:
The Exorcism of Britney Spears by
Mike Huckabee
2008 Presidential Candidate and Baptist Preacher, Governor Mike Huckabee has stopped by to visit Britney at her bedside and help her find the Lord in her heart. Only to do so he is going to have to perform an Exorcism -just like in the horror classic The Exorcist. Featuring comedian Dante from Last Comic Standing.
The film clips were great but you completely misunderstand him when you label him "supreme" and "theocrat".
The wonderful and tolerant Constitution we have was written by people who talked far more about God than Huckabee does. They made the case for self-government by saying that we were CREATED and endowed with rights.
Someone who sees themselves UNDER God is far less likely to think they ARE God which the power of the Presidency tempts everyone to do.
maybe we could use a change and go back to the core beliefs that are reflected in the constitution. btw the words "seperation of church and state" are not in the constitution the state cannot impose a religion like England did is in there. Everyone is free to believe or not. And they are also free to say i do believe.
coty211: Apparently, most ppl believe it's okay for South Carolina to fly the confederate flag...it's been flying for years. You need to check the history of the flag & what it's actually meant to represent. And no...Huckabee wouldn't propose his religious beliefs. He was Gov of Ark for 10+ years & last I heard, it wasn't illegal to miss Sunday school
It is time to stop this religious madness and forget about what a HUMAN author wrote 2-3,000 years ago. Admittedly there is some whacky, crazy shit in there that can keep you gripped for a while - but to literally believe it - come on, just forget about it and use your energy for something really positive, like REALLY loving your fellow man.
Let's face it, Huckabee doesn't stand a chance. So get real and stop all the god crap while you're at it. You're not children anymore, engage the brain and think about what you are saying, what you believe in.
Mike Huckabee is a great guy. His religion is a problem. It sounds like he is bringing his church into the White House. JFK didn't do this with his Catholic faith. However, I like Mike Huckabee the most out of all the republicans. He is a kind, compassionate conservative. If the choice is Obama and Huck, I will vote Huck. (I'm a dem)
I will give the Paul supporters credit for one thing...relentless promoting of their guy. Just one small problem - he has about as much chance of getting the Republican nomination as Hillary does of becoming a member of the NRA...ain't gonna happen. My basic problem with Paul is that he espouses nothing that would indicate any spiritual aspect to his life, much less Christian. We need no more practical atheists in government and can thank the Democratic party for covering that for us all.
Only one candidate will bring MEANINGFUL change to our destructive foreign policy, will bring all our troops home to protect our own borders, and will see that NO MORE young Americans, or their families, suffer from undeclared wars, and that candidate is RON PAUL. YouTube "Ron Paul Town Hall" and listen to the candidate Fox News doesn't want you to hear.
I agree that in some cases keeping religion out of government is a good idea, but it can also be a building block for the foundation and stability of this country in ways too.
I gave you a "thumb's up" on this comment because I like the way you say it. I don't necessarily agree w/ everything, but it's well stated. Even if one assumes that religion is a good building block for society, it can only accomplish that when kept separate from gov't in order to help prevent those in power from abusing the ties between the 2. Theocracy = oppression.
And Mr. Huckabee's faith does not promote becoming like God...being able to do all, know all and become perfect. Mr. Huckabee's faith promotes love, kindness, and a humble attitude towards life.
Although Huckabee cannot feed the multitudes with five loaves and two fish alone (as one stated below), with God on his side and through faith, all things are possible. It is apparent that many of these individuals do not believe in God and this is why comments like this are made. If you don't believe in the creater, then you probably don't believe in a man who believes in God. I support Mike Huckabee.
Even when I was a Christian, I would never support a candidate like Huckabee and neither would most any of the other Christians I knew because we understand the importance of separation and church and state. The freedoms from persecution that people of all religions enjoy in the U.S. is because of that separation, which is what our founders understood.
Many people do not believe in God. I'll take my chances. I'd rather believe in something great than take my chances and end up in hell. Read the book of Revelation...Rev. 9:4-18. I'll choose to stand on God's side on judgement day.
I do believe in something great. I believe in love, in my family, in most people wanting to do and be good. I believe the universe and the world are beautiful, amazing places. It's absolutely incredible to me that the laws of the universe allow such beauty and that people can be so great.
I've read Revelations, and I have a question for you, smlathim. I would doubt this, but is Revelations your reason for believing in God? Because, if so, it gives the appearance that you believe in God because you fear it. Based on the way you phrase things, you don't strike me as the kind of person who would believe in a god in order to keep from being punished. That's not a god worthy of belief or praise or worship.
Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom. The beginning. You should read the other 65 books before Revelations. I don't say this in bitterness. I really think you should so you can read about how the reasons to fear God really balance with how he shows his unconditional love to us.
Ihearu2: I was asking the Huckabee supporters for suggested reading. Figured you to be literate. Before voting for more war, check out 'Ghost Wars' by Steven Coll
1st, I want to say I like the way you put things, Nate.
2nd, I don't really understand how "Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom." It would seem that fear something is wisdom if that something is dangerous to you. That doesn't seem like a God of unconditional love. Also, in reading the entire Bible, it doesn't seem that this God's love is anything but conditional.
Got a flash for you pal...if you used to be a Christian, you never were one to start with! You also are abysmally ignorant of the true meaning of "separation of church and state". The lies of the humanists have done their work in you. Wake up!
How do you interpret the meaning of separation of church and state, then? What lies are you talking about?
As far as my never really being a Christian, you're probably right. I always was bothered by the all the things that didn't really make sense. I just figured that a "good" person went to church. Later I realized that a good person doesn't do something just because most other people believed it was good.
You all seem to forget that Huckabee is a BAPTIST, and it is against the Baptist faith to impose or force religion on others. He has no desire to create a theocracy, he just will allow the teachings and principles of the Bible to inform his decision-making. Only an anti-Christian bigot would have a problem with that.
If that's the case, gtbkc, then why is he running a campaign as the "Christian Leader."
The real issue is, however, which part of the Bible is he planning on using to inform his decision-making? Is he going to choose what little there is of the very best of it, or is he going to use what's in the vast majority of the rest of the Bible? Also, is he going to topple the "bridge" between church and state that Bush has created?
re: danny's "I have enough faith so that a little snow would not keep me from voting for the candidate of my choice."
In this case, what are you saying you have faith in? Are you putting your faith in Huckabee? I don't see where faith comes into the picture here. Besides, we're talking an avalanche, not just a little snow.
You are right faith does not come into this picture, I was responding to someone who questioned my faith.I don't care for Huckabee I think his idea about a national sales tax to replace the current tax code is idiotic because it would discourage people from spending their money to avoid paying the tax.I would like to see a President who will concentrate the power of his office on the real problems that people face in this country.
"someone once said that faith is personal and religion is politics... I'll voting for a human, not God, come election day."
Yes, voting for a human, not God...but doesn't it make sense to know the person you're voting in is in touch with God?...doesn't it make sense to make sure to get someone in with good morals and values AND believes in our country?
re: "doesn't it make sense to know the person you're voting in is in touch w/ God?"
Getting someone in w/ good morals and values AND believes in our country would be good, but that person is not a religious fanatic. A person of good morals and values gets them from reason and caring NOT from religious dogma. A person who believes in our country believes in the founding concepts for our country--NOT the concepts re-invented by the church, but in the Bill of Rights and in FREEDOM!
Presidents do not have executive power to change the constitiution. Huccabee knows this. So i would question why he is using God and Constitution here. This is political, manipulative rhetoric ...not morality.....(I think your comment is a good valid question)
Huckabee is a disgrace to the USA and a disgrace to humanity. I propose a bout of waterboarding so that he may repent and see the light of reason. Waterboarding, at least.
yay for war, nay for abortion. does huckafuckabee care about the children being brutalised as a result of our iraqi invasion? fuckin' pedo pastor.

DawnESlike 3 years ago
Dawn..."unwise to mock those who make great sacrifices for us"? Sorry, but I fail to see Huckabee's great sacrifices. Perhaps it was great hardship to vacation on Grand Cayman Island in the name of the Son of God? I believe it is also unwise to break God's 3rd commandment to Moses, and use God's name to vain ends. It's offensive to my Christian principles when someone such as Huckabee attempts to further their personal political goals via boasting their religious viewpoints.
Verified1 3 years ago
I absolutely disagree with your final claim that he used his religious viewpoint to further his personal political gain.
His trip to the Grand Cayman Island was not a vacation, either.
Huckabee's great sacrifices are too great to list here.
And I fail to see how Huckabee used God's name to "vain ends."
Am sorry your Christian principles are so different from mine. But that's what makes America so "great": a million different, often erroneous versions of Christianity.
DawnESlike 3 years ago
Dawn-thx for your reply. No need to be sorry that our views differ. I'm not. We just understand things differently. I hope you're not saying my view is "erroneous," or I'd have to lose respect for your view. I'd believe Huckabee if he devoted his life to serving others rather than use religion as a prop for elected office. We're told true religion is taking care of the widows & fatherless. I'd rather he claimed no religion & served others rather than boasting abt his faith for ambition's end.

Did anybody hear ANY apology from these organizations for their miserably poor predictions?
johnlorican 4 years ago
Why is the marxist/liberal Blumenthal opposed to impeachment of judges who abuse their powers? Checks and balances apply to all branches of government including the judicial branch. Is Blumenthal also opposed to presidential impeachment in the executive or expulsion of members of the legislative branch? This is a typical tactic used by marxists to demonize Huckabee- not for his policy ideas but because he is a Christian. Post modernism/marxism loathes Christianity.
1326yummy 4 years ago
well said gunny woods
Giggolo4hire 4 years ago
Boy the left is sure paranoid (!) As usual, Mr. Blumenthal pours all of his energies into making paranoid videos. What is he TRULY fearful of? Are evangelical Christians flying planes into buildings, blowing up cafes, murdering women and children, etc.? Fortunately, he's young - and one day will wake up and discern the difference between genuine EVIL and friendly people who may simply have a different theological perspective than him...
johnlorican 4 years ago
The left is "paranoid"? Why, because they prefer democracy over theocracy? Just because you're paranoid......
It is true that christians are not flying planes into buildings but they DO murder, Eric Rudolph anyone? Nah, I would say it is the "christians" that are paranoid and use fake outrage and act villified to gain sympathy. Biblical law is not compatible with the REAL law, the constitution.
GunnyWoods 4 years ago
The paranoia is represented by those who believe that a 'theocracy' will be ushered in if you elect an evangelical Christian into office - a complete absurdity...and you and I both know that Christians aren't doing the murdering here and abroad. That, of course, is common sense - but I guess, sadly, it has to be pointed out on occasion...
johnlorican 4 years ago
Funny how "christians" point out that they are not flying planes into buildings as their defense of theocracy. Terror comes in many forms. Biblical law is one of them. One only need to listen to Huckabee's own words to understand, wink wink what he means. I have fought in the middle east several times and know first hand the dangers of religious fundamentalists, I will fight again if it comes to my country, muslim OR christian.
GunnyWoods 4 years ago
It's interesting how liberals have their own, very narrow, way of thinking (large government, tax those who produce, teach ethics in the classroom - as long as the ethics aren't biblical, etc.) - a viewpoint that represents a 'secular fundamentalism.' The liberal orthodoxy of the day tolerates no other viewpoint - or just simply resorts to name-calling ('theocracy,' etc.)
johnlorican 4 years ago

"and you and I both know that Christians aren't doing the murdering here and abroad. That, of course, is common sense "

Common nonsense? Is is Christians who are terrorizing the globe? Is it Christians who are blowing themselves up in cafes, killing dozens of people? Is it Christians who are terrorizing trains in Spain, murdering hundreds?...or attempting to blow up airplanes in Britian - after successfully ramming planes into buildings in New York and Washington, D.C.?....yes, there is such a thing as 'common sense'...

the question is not if the current spate violence is christian or islamic.
the question is "is the current spate of violence based on religion"
the answer ...a resounding YES.
acting on faith with unquestioning certainty that you are right is a bad idea... yet is exactly what religion would have people do.
when 2 seperate dogmas meet that have this mindset violence is inevitable....
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
I would agree with you; the current spate of violence IS based upon religion. You then have to analyze - WHAT religious worldview is propagating the violence? To 'lump' in evangelical Christians with Islamic terrorists, simply because both have religiously fundamental viewpoints is disingenuous and dishonest. To me, the atheistic worldviews of Communism and Nazism committed the most atrocious acts of inhumanity in history.
johnlorican 4 years ago
but do you not see that acting on anything based on faith as if it were a certainty is dangerous?
Is not allowing a gay couple to get married dangerous on its own? no.
but then again neither is making a woman wear a burka...
does that mean it is ok to deny somene rights simply because they are diferent? no
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
islamic fundamentalists are every bit as certain that the quran is the word of god as evangelical christians are of the bible.
while the evangelical conservatives generally do not resort to violence the methods by which they deny rights of others are still repugnant.
denial of rights for homosexuals is way up on the list...as is creation in science class.
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
Homosexuals have every right that I (as a heterosexual) do. Homosexuals CAN'T marry someone of the same-sex - but then, neither can I...and let's be real: Many Christians would love for Intelligent Design to be taught in the classroom alongside Evolutionary Theory. It's the evolutionists that REFUSE competing theories to be taught. The REAL zealotry is on the other side, not the side of the 'religious.'
johnlorican 4 years ago
i am fine with competing scientific theories being taught in schools ... unfortunately for you the "creation theory" doesnt pass the laugh test with regards to science.
please tell me how you would falsify the creation theory... after all in order for something to be scientific you need to be able to state how it could potentially be falsified.
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
I'm glad you're fine with competing scientific theories (as am I) - because many academics aren't. There are hundreds of scientists that support Intelligent Design; I'd think they'd be able to debunk any 'laugh test' and could answer how a theory could be falsified.
johnlorican 4 years ago
they have debunked ID ...
also it is a part of coming up with a scientific theory to state clearly conditions that would falsify your own theory ...
please if you truly believe ID is a scientific theory point me to conditions that would show the theory to be false if they occured.
for example if we were to find ..in situ .. rabbit fossils in the pre cambrian ..evolutionary theory would be falsified in many respects...
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
With regards to 'debunking' Intelligent Design, who's 'they?' There have been so many holes found within evolutionary thought within the last 10-15 years, that many scientists have had to reconsider their thinking. I'm not a scientist, so I can't defend/support ID - or Evolution, for that matter. It's not my area of expertise.
johnlorican 4 years ago
please point me to part of evolutionary theory that was "debunked" by ID proponents where evolutionary biologists have been unable to show via evidence that the so called "debunking" was a load of crap.
as of yet i have not seen anything of the sort.
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
in fact ... the best i have EVER seen ID do is TRY to debunk evolutionary theory and then claim that they win the debate by default...
false Dichotomy anyone?
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
You may be right that an element of ID is 'reactionary' to evolution, but, at the same time, many evolutionists hold such a foothold to their theories that they are simply unwilling to look at any other evidence to the contrary. Ironically, several proponents of ID are NOT religious people, per say; they've simply come to the conclusion that the remarkable order to the universe points toward 'something' other than evolutionary progression.
johnlorican 4 years ago
"they've simply come to the conclusion that the remarkable order to the universe points toward 'something' other than evolutionary progression."
and again that is not evidence for creation or against evolution. that is what is known as an argument from personal incredulity.... and is a common logical fallacy.
memoryofakiss 4 years ago
Many internet sites have information about this. Charles Colson, a man I respect highly, has written many wonderful editorials on this subject. Search the words 'Breakpoint' and 'Colson' and then begin to look up commentaries on evolution and ID. Every commentary is footnoted with applicable articles on these topics.
johnlorican 4 years ago
ok i see quote mining...and some of the same flimsy arguments. and im not impressed that you are trying to use an op ed columnist as a resource.... will continue to look but so far im underwhelmed.. if you could get more specific in what you think is earth shattering evidence against evolution feel free to point me in the right direction.
memoryofakiss 4 years ago

PervisJohnson 4 years ago 2
Oh yeah, and I assume that means that you would like to wait for a year or better for what would be considered here an emergency surgery? That's what Canadians and Brits do. Either that or they come here to get it done faster. Ask Hillary about that! Her friend from Canada came to America to get surgery! She's never going to mention that one in her outcry for socialized medicine.
x3DreamyEyes 4 years ago
Half my relatives are Canadians. What you said about emergency surgery there is a untrue. You are just repeating a lie someone told you. All modern nations, except the USA have socialized medicine, because it works. Suckers in USA pay TWICE as much person for health care, and 47 million people are uninsured. Most of the insured aren't really covered, because insurance companies welch.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
I'm not so sure either system is the optimum one, Pervis. I think there's a danger in any socialized program; however, the US system definitely needs a huge overhaul. I can't really speak about others as I haven't seen theirs in action, but I'd love to see a study on which country actually has the best.
ihearu2 4 years ago
The World Health Organization ranked the USA 37th in overall medical care. Socialized medicine has worked well in the real world. The nations above us on the list have socialized medicine. The whole point of it is that it is less expensive, and everyone is covered. Most European nations have it, and Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc. It works.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
Thanks again, Pervis. I thought I'd heard something about that study. It seems to me, then, that if there are plenty of countries whose systems are better than ours, why not study the very best ones. Then we can pick and choose the best things from each program and make ours even better. It seems like THAT should be what a president would suggest rather than just making something up.
ihearu2 4 years ago
Actually, Ross Perot came to the same conclusion as you when he ran for President. He even recommended dividing the USA into 4 regions, and trying the best 4 systems. That way we could fine tune our system to be the most efficient. Perot was a multi-billionaire businessman. He was not stupid.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
12 million of those 47 are illegals. They don't DESERVE heath insurance. Another 7 million make more than $80,000 per year. Any of those people that don't have insurance but have a car payment, internet access at their house, or a cell phone bill each month can't complain either because they've put those things in front of their health!
justynharper4236 4 years ago
USA is paying for a Mercedes health care system, and getting a Chevy. Insurance and drug companies are screwing you, and you like it. If Americans are so dumb, then they are getting the system they deserve. Socialized medicine saves LIVES and money.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
re: Pervis' "USA pay TWICE as much for health care."
I'd be curious about where you got that statistic from. It's not that I don't believe it, but I would want to make sure it takes into account the taxes paid towards health care in both countries; otherwise, there's no fair comparison.
ihearu2 4 years ago
A week ago, I saw Michael Dukakis on C-Span. He stated that $7,500 per person per year is spent in USA. Presumably, that includes out-of-pocket expenses, insurance and taxes. He said other nations with universal health care spend half as much. My relatives in Canada LOVE their free system, and look down on the USA. Michael Moore in Sicko stated Cuba spends 10% per capita what we spend.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
Thanks, Pervis! :-)
ihearu2 4 years ago
Actually, the CIA has a website you can go to. It has a fact book. It lists the life expectancies of nations. We are #45. We live 10 years less than Andorra and Japan, which are #1, and #2. Some experts say that Infant Mortality is the best statistic to describe a nation's health care system. It is a simple fraction, that cannot be shaded. We are #55 in that. That I found on another site. Use a search engine to find infant mortality by nation.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
Why not try a FREE MARKET solution? Socialism has never worked. There will be no incentive for doctors to put their all into their practice, and less incentive for drug researchers to put in extra hours trying to discover that next miracle drug! What a great society we'll have then!!!
justynharper4236 4 years ago
The free market hasn't worked in the real world when it comes to health care. People will pay anything when they are sick. Dozens of other nations have better systems that are not free market. See above. Drug companies get most research money from government, according to Ralph Nader. China is producing 60 times more scientists per year than we are now. USA best days are in the past, sadly.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
I used to think the government couldn't do anything right, and that the free market was better. Have you ever seen the film "Sicko?" It compares the USA system to others. Government did a good job on "Shock and Awe," as I recall. Prescription drugs are 10% to 40% the price we pay here, when I travel in other nations. Our money is being stolen in USA, but also our lives.
PervisJohnson 4 years ago
I haven't seen Sicko, yet, but I plan on it. I was curious about that one. I think a big part of the problem IS that our gov't is too big yet not protecting our rights and freedoms where it should. I think the entire election system should be revised.
(continued)
ihearu2 4 years ago
Part 2 of "election system should be revised"
I don't think we should allow any campaign contributions at all and no commercials. Instead, since the media has a public service agreement, they should allow all candidates a certain amount of time to make a short statement, then people can see their websites for more info. Instead of these ridiculous debates, they should be set up like REAL debates. I have more, but I think you get the idea.

Someone who sees themselves UNDER God is far less likely to think they ARE God which the power of the Presidency tempts everyone to do.
frmpit 4 years ago
maybe we could use a change and go back to the core beliefs that are reflected in the constitution. btw the words "seperation of church and state" are not in the constitution the state cannot impose a religion like England did is in there. Everyone is free to believe or not. And they are also free to say i do believe.
triguyfl1 4 years ago
yeah right, Huckabee would NOT want to impose his religious beliefs on others...!!! LOL
give me a break-
he still thinks its ok to fly the CONFEDERATe flag...!!!!!! typical of a lot of religious guys that are really RACISTS..!
coty211 4 years ago
coty211: Apparently, most ppl believe it's okay for South Carolina to fly the confederate flag...it's been flying for years. You need to check the history of the flag & what it's actually meant to represent. And no...Huckabee wouldn't propose his religious beliefs. He was Gov of Ark for 10+ years & last I heard, it wasn't illegal to miss Sunday school

Did Huckabee ever hear of the term "seperation of CHURCH AND STATE.."..?????
give me a break, what a LOOSER..!
coty211 4 years ago
Absolutely! He does believe that government should stay out of the church's business, just like our founding fathers!

The added content makes no sense, don't rag on a guy just for his religion, find something he has done wrong and post that.

It is time to stop this religious madness and forget about what a HUMAN author wrote 2-3,000 years ago. Admittedly there is some whacky, crazy shit in there that can keep you gripped for a while - but to literally believe it - come on, just forget about it and use your energy for something really positive, like REALLY loving your fellow man.
wheelygood9 4 years ago
Let's face it, Huckabee doesn't stand a chance. So get real and stop all the god crap while you're at it. You're not children anymore, engage the brain and think about what you are saying, what you believe in.
wheelygood9 4 years ago

I agree that in some cases keeping religion out of government is a good idea, but it can also be a building block for the foundation and stability of this country in ways too.
smlathim06 4 years ago
I gave you a "thumb's up" on this comment because I like the way you say it. I don't necessarily agree w/ everything, but it's well stated. Even if one assumes that religion is a good building block for society, it can only accomplish that when kept separate from gov't in order to help prevent those in power from abusing the ties between the 2. Theocracy = oppression.
ihearu2 4 years ago
And Mr. Huckabee's faith does not promote becoming like God...being able to do all, know all and become perfect. Mr. Huckabee's faith promotes love, kindness, and a humble attitude towards life.
smlathim06 4 years ago
Although Huckabee cannot feed the multitudes with five loaves and two fish alone (as one stated below), with God on his side and through faith, all things are possible. It is apparent that many of these individuals do not believe in God and this is why comments like this are made. If you don't believe in the creater, then you probably don't believe in a man who believes in God. I support Mike Huckabee.
smlathim06 4 years ago
Even when I was a Christian, I would never support a candidate like Huckabee and neither would most any of the other Christians I knew because we understand the importance of separation and church and state. The freedoms from persecution that people of all religions enjoy in the U.S. is because of that separation, which is what our founders understood.

Many people do not believe in God. I'll take my chances. I'd rather believe in something great than take my chances and end up in hell. Read the book of Revelation...Rev. 9:4-18. I'll choose to stand on God's side on judgement day.
smlathim06 4 years ago
Part 1 for smlathim on Revelations:
I do believe in something great. I believe in love, in my family, in most people wanting to do and be good. I believe the universe and the world are beautiful, amazing places. It's absolutely incredible to me that the laws of the universe allow such beauty and that people can be so great.
ihearu2 4 years ago
Part 2 for smlathim on Revelations:
I've read Revelations, and I have a question for you, smlathim. I would doubt this, but is Revelations your reason for believing in God? Because, if so, it gives the appearance that you believe in God because you fear it. Based on the way you phrase things, you don't strike me as the kind of person who would believe in a god in order to keep from being punished. That's not a god worthy of belief or praise or worship.
ihearu2 4 years ago
Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom. The beginning. You should read the other 65 books before Revelations. I don't say this in bitterness. I really think you should so you can read about how the reasons to fear God really balance with how he shows his unconditional love to us.

Aside from the bible, any other books you can recommend?
kalidyne 4 years ago
Hi Kalidyne,
If you're serious, I'd be glad to recommend some books.
Let me know, and I'll think through all the books I've read and pick some of the best.
ihearu2 4 years ago
Ihearu2: I was asking the Huckabee supporters for suggested reading. Figured you to be literate. Before voting for more war, check out 'Ghost Wars' by Steven Coll
kalidyne 4 years ago
Just requested it from the library, kalidyne. Thanks.
ihearu2 4 years ago
1st, I want to say I like the way you put things, Nate.
2nd, I don't really understand how "Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom." It would seem that fear something is wisdom if that something is dangerous to you. That doesn't seem like a God of unconditional love. Also, in reading the entire Bible, it doesn't seem that this God's love is anything but conditional.
ihearu2 4 years ago
Got a flash for you pal...if you used to be a Christian, you never were one to start with! You also are abysmally ignorant of the true meaning of "separation of church and state". The lies of the humanists have done their work in you. Wake up!
tigerlilly66 4 years ago
How do you interpret the meaning of separation of church and state, then? What lies are you talking about?
As far as my never really being a Christian, you're probably right. I always was bothered by the all the things that didn't really make sense. I just figured that a "good" person went to church. Later I realized that a good person doesn't do something just because most other people believed it was good.
ihearu2 4 years ago
You all seem to forget that Huckabee is a BAPTIST, and it is against the Baptist faith to impose or force religion on others. He has no desire to create a theocracy, he just will allow the teachings and principles of the Bible to inform his decision-making. Only an anti-Christian bigot would have a problem with that.
gtbkc 4 years ago
oh so using religious beliefs to influence issues that affect a whole nation of different people is correct reasoning then?
Giggolo4hire 4 years ago
If that's the case, gtbkc, then why is he running a campaign as the "Christian Leader."
The real issue is, however, which part of the Bible is he planning on using to inform his decision-making? Is he going to choose what little there is of the very best of it, or is he going to use what's in the vast majority of the rest of the Bible? Also, is he going to topple the "bridge" between church and state that Bush has created?

I do believe in God, and I know that I have enough faith so that a little snow would not keep me from voting for the candidate of my choice.

re: danny's "I have enough faith so that a little snow would not keep me from voting for the candidate of my choice."
In this case, what are you saying you have faith in? Are you putting your faith in Huckabee? I don't see where faith comes into the picture here. Besides, we're talking an avalanche, not just a little snow.
ihearu2 4 years ago
You are right faith does not come into this picture, I was responding to someone who questioned my faith.I don't care for Huckabee I think his idea about a national sales tax to replace the current tax code is idiotic because it would discourage people from spending their money to avoid paying the tax.I would like to see a President who will concentrate the power of his office on the real problems that people face in this country.

"someone once said that faith is personal and religion is politics... I'll voting for a human, not God, come election day."
Yes, voting for a human, not God...but doesn't it make sense to know the person you're voting in is in touch with God?...doesn't it make sense to make sure to get someone in with good morals and values AND believes in our country?
spillie11 4 years ago
re: "doesn't it make sense to know the person you're voting in is in touch w/ God?"
Getting someone in w/ good morals and values AND believes in our country would be good, but that person is not a religious fanatic. A person of good morals and values gets them from reason and caring NOT from religious dogma. A person who believes in our country believes in the founding concepts for our country--NOT the concepts re-invented by the church, but in the Bill of Rights and in FREEDOM!
ihearu2 4 years ago
Presidents do not have executive power to change the constitiution. Huccabee knows this. So i would question why he is using God and Constitution here. This is political, manipulative rhetoric ...not morality.....(I think your comment is a good valid question)

Huckabee is a disgrace to the USA and a disgrace to humanity. I propose a bout of waterboarding so that he may repent and see the light of reason. Waterboarding, at least.
