the engine should NOT sound like that. there is rust spots all down the sides also lies you have put on : "no rust on the car" you can see the rust spots all over the place. the "it needs a bit of a dashboard fix" is a drastic understatement also when you said "its just a surface spot" its more than a surface spot its a dammed hole in the car.
