to this day i still have a hard time getting past that level where u have no out..and i always get trapped...i loved vision....but i think they progressed to be too difficult too fast as the games u went deeper into the games levels...
Weird! I was deep into the Intellivision culture (We had an original console with the faux wooden sides) and yet this commercial doesnt look familiar at all. I remember the one with the couple pulling up to the drive-in window but this is new to me.
I played burgertime so much in 3rd grade, that I have dreams where I am still playing burgertime, and that fucking music would play in your head for an entire fucking month. I suffer from burgertime flashbacks. I am liable to snap your neck if I see a pickle sliced a certain way or anyone dressed up as a hot dog for Halloween.
I think what sucks about today is, we look back and remember a time when we had the latest gadgets and what not, but we still had a future to look foreward to. Now this generation is just stupid, our generation still had class.
I remember here in east texas (arp) yeah LOOK THAT ONE UP, there was a little hamburger/gas station out in the middle of nowhere here in the piney woods that had this game. I used to go and play all the time!
@sygo7g Heck yeah! I may have been born into the NES era and later, but I freaking love classic gaming, and can see why these games were so addicting: they are actually well designed, creative, and.. fun.
most stuff I see today, or over the past 5-10 years just.. lacks something. Its all about graphics more than gameplay... even in game series I love, they are just losing it as time goes on...
Hmn,... maybe I should hit up Burger Time tonight, on my good old INTV ^^
@sygo7g Mattel DID have the rights on all consoles; the ColecoVision and Commodore 64 versions of BurgerTime were released after Mattel got out of the video game business.
damn, this really brings back memories. Used to play this for hours. I also like the B-17 bomber game. Can anyone remember the name of the naval warfare game? Sea Battle I think it was called.
Mattel (who ported this to American consoles, I guess) made the Intellivision, so why would they develop a version for their competitor, the Atari? Isn't that like having Halo on PS3? Or did Data East do the Atari version themselves, and if they did, why did Mattel mention it in their commercial? Especially given the Atari's popularity compared to the Intellivision's, it's like "You can have it now on our machine, but it's coming soon on a system you actually own." So many questions...
Mattel did make a line of video games for Atari 2600 under the brand M Network. Although some Mattel people thought it was a mistake to support the competition, the reality was that there were 3.5 million Intellivisions out there vs. 12 million Atari 2600s. It was too big of a market to ignore.
Exclusive games are system-sellers though. Had the market just not progressed enough to know that? Had Mattel really wanted to succeed, they'd have make all their first-party games Intellivision exclusives like modern companies do for their systems, and then they would have emphasized the exclusive games and the fact that their hardware delivered better graphics and sound. That might have given them the win. But of course, nobody then knew what would work, and disastrous decisions were made.
@IntellivisionProd Not to mention the Intellivision, along with Coleco, had an Atari 2600 expansion module to let you play 2600 games on their systems.
Actually, it's a smart decision if the console in question isn't up to par in the market share. Apple II and 2600 were the lions in the cage at the time, and Aquarius was huge in Europe, so that's why. Intellivision never came close to 2600's sales numbers back then. And to mention your example, Microsoft did release Halo for Apple Mac OS X. Go figure.
@SoulMaster71 Back then, the game makers had a relationship, on the Intellivision or Collecovision, you could buy an expansion that lets you play Atari 2600 games. That's like putting Wii games on the PS3.
The Japanese. We hear it's common, even available at McDonald's. The original arcade game was created in Japan. -Your Friends at Intellivision Productions
You are out of your mind. Intellivision had TONES of great games. Beam Rider, Thunder Castle, Tower of Doom, Thin Ice, Shark Shark, Dungeons and Dragons, the list goes on and on.
Holy shit... does anyone else here dig that music?
Man that takes me back! Suddenly I have the urge to put on a plastic jacket with 20 zippers, roll the sleeves up, and start break dancing. Does anyone else get this feeling??? This commercial is TOTALLY radical dude!
Chef Peter Pepper in the animation should have looked more like the arcade game artwork. At least this boxart matched the characters on the arcade cabinet! I thought he was one of the coolest looking arcade game characters and didn't agree with what he looked like on the NES and Game Boy box art! Still the ebst BT commercial I've seen! This game is tough but it's a classic!!! Ty
