  • I get quite amused to see that all comments stream start bending towards religion and later to Indians.

Shows our religio-political brought up. Hmmm a pity indeed.

  • this is one book i have enjoyed reading more than any other book i have read. Hanif, Kamila, Mohsin, i like them all. they are excellent writers. i like Khalid Hossaini of Afghanistan too.

  • he was borned in 2/4-l okara

    that s where i was

  • Excellent piece of fiction.

It deserves to win the booker. but to be on the shortlist is also an honour.

And Mr. Hamid you are very humble. If you were an Indian you would have won it. No pakistani writer will win booker it seems. Lets see what will be the faith of "Wasted Vigil" by Nadeem Aslam. By the way there is no reason why "Maps for lost lovers"by a Pakistani writer should not win booker. It is much better than "Inheritance of Loss" or "White Tiger" of Arvind Adiga.

  • Rather than crib about Indian authors, I'd do much better for people to write good books. Not sure why this Indian angle comes into this discussion.Just because Pakistanis don't win doesn't mean awards are biased to wards India. Maybe Pakistani's are not good enough.

  • Oh please Fundamentalist was a rubbish book and this one was too...until Pakistanis have an original voice and dont write post colonial Indian style novels they wont win...Kamila Shamsie is our biggest hope...
