  • is this the original artist? This sounds.... well I will shut my mouth now.

  • @lavvy2585 Hahahahaha, I was about to say the same thing

  • I'm 38 and my grandmother sang this song whenever I was feeling bad she passed in 2008. When I hear this I cry no matter where I am. I remember these words from the age of 5 and I still hear her now RIP Pauline

  • @deanunique1 hopeful you can pass that on to your kids :) keep the soul alive.

  • love nina simone, but not doing this song...stick to My Baby just cares for me

  • this song has a natural tranquil feel to it but she makes it even more tranquil

  • Boyz 'n The Hood got me to this wonderful place.

  • Lovee

  • Great song.

  • Blacks are not babies! come on now think about the situation that they were in with the whole slavery years.. go through all that pain and try to come at somebody with atleast some knowledge!

  • For the people in Haiti.

  • Its amazing that when you come on here to listen to such a beautiful song you are a guaranteed an argument on the first page!! The funny thing is that if the people doing the arguing actually met they would all probably get on really well !! Much Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dont even pay attention to controversyking or anyone like that... let them stay trapped in the past while we move forward, together. learn from the past, don't dwell on it, live in the moment and manifest the future. we know what's right.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG. AMERICANS, YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SONG. GREETING FROM REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA. ON THE OTHER HAND THIS SONG IS USED AS A BACKUP FOR MY FAVORITE SCENE ON BROTHERS AND SISTERS- THE POOL PARTY WHEN ALL WALKERS JUMP :))))) LOVE FROM MACEDONIA. GOD BLESS USA

  • @controversyking Your so-called "criticism" is entirely uninformed & thoughtless. Your rant is simply full of bile & hatred & serves no purpose other that to hate.

What good did Civil RIghts do? Oh, it gave blacks the right to vote where they were kept from doing so.

And what does illegitimacy have to do with Civil Rights?

As far as prisons go, come back when you've read Angela Davis's work on America's Prison-Industrial-Complex. Many people make big dollar$ incarcerating blacks (easy targets).

  • @controversyking lol apparently you don't. White's have done more atrocities then any other race, bud. They kill, rape, and spread disease to innocent people and claim land that clearly isn't theirs. They rather do evil then good, and justify it all by slapping God's name behind their actions or throwing a bible in someone's face. Like I said, instead of trolling the internet & being ignorant, read a book and learn about yourself & why your race really isn't the shit.

  • @controversyking and whites have raped & kill long before blacks were ever brought to America. instead of bitchin over the internet, maybe you should pick up a history book. Whites have been the cause of most of the world's problems, trials, & tribulations. Get off the net & read/do some research dumbass

  • @millvalleyrn Are you completely nuts? Even if all those statistics are true the fact that all people should be treated equal remains. Nina Simone is THE perfect example. She wanted to attend a classical music school, had a tremendous audition, but was rejected because of her colour. Life is too short to waste any human being's talent on something as stupid as racism.

  • makin' me smile for the first time today. Thanks nina... x

  • @controversyking <--- completely ignorant asshole.

  • Wow, something amazing happens with her vibrato towards the end. The Divine enters her. cheesy ending though.

  • Wow, something amazing happens with her vibrato towards the end. The Divine enters her.

  • was this originaly her song?

  • @reesee02 The 5 Stairsteps, 1970

  • NINA SIMONE

NEVER HEARD THIS LIKE THIS B4

    BUT YO THIS IS NICE!

  • What's great about Nina is just how freaking original she was.

She approached every song like a puzzle to be solved and often found solutions that hadn't occurred to anyone else.

I wonder how much of that had to do with her not planning on becoming a singer in the first place (and not having the pre-conceptions that more conventional vocalists might have).

  • Dudu2 thanks for the cd. 1995-1996 were 2 of the best years of my life. 2007 to present has not been bad either. thanks mullet. from the original dudu71

  • Incredible! I have heard this song 6 thousand times, but never like this. This is the way this song must have been intended to be heard.

LOL, I'd say more. Go on and on and on but I need to check out more Nina. I'm hoping Nobody's fault but mine comes close.

    Thanks for the fantastic share,,,

    Funk

  • Great cover.

  • Ouvi na EldoradoFM, não sei nada de música, mas é incrível como nossos sentidos são tocados e algo em nós nos diz que estamos diante da mais pura beleza. É êxtase na certa.

  • This Song remind me that things will get better!!

    Very nice the video...good work;-)

    Grande voz ..Grande Nina Simone!

  • This is the song of my youngest daughter.she now is a mother of 4.This is our song

  • Diva, Diva, Diva, gran voz de Nina Simone, lastima que ya no esta con nosotros

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard!

  • Me and my daughter love this ;-)

  • Okay its bad enough people are tortured in this world o.k , so this songs is to let people out there know there is hope but with people swearing and saying oh this sucks yeah it doesn't help just stop saying stuff thats not nice about it if it weren't a good song it would be on you tube like the saying IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY DONT SAY IT .plz

because opnce we post when people who post bad stuff it gets sent our email and i dont wanna read the crap that you guy say just dont k

  • @beautifullivey this is the continue part it gets so annoying this utube was invented to make people happy by listening to songs but they put post in so people could say what they like they used to not even have computers be grateful u have one and shut ur mouth you make people sad by ur comments and this is a song for hapiness u reck it search up the real version if you want it might make you happy on the inside if u not hapy u r the one to swear here.its not her song she just tried it

  • @beautifullivey Can't convince jerks......take from this as you can, and pity the fools....

  • If you're ever bummed out, wouldn't it be soo great to have had Nina Simone sing this just to you...?

  • Great voice but I prefer the 5 stairsteps version, theres more tenderness to it I think. Not sure who did the original. Lovely song, either way X

  • @Anygodwilldo it was 5 stairsteps :) i think their version has more energy to it rather than tenderness. it's really good though, the song itself is so great that it'll work out to the best as long as the singer is not a bum. :)

  • How can anyone dislike this track.6 people do it seems!.Oh well. They must of been kids as it's mainly people that are grown that can apperciate this standard of music.

    All love.

    =ox

  • I just came across this and want to thank you, TPC. What a beautiful tribute to Ms. Nina Simone. It brought a tear to my eye and this song in particular, instills me with a sense of hope. It is a timeless piece whose lyrics always remain relevant.

    Peace,

    Globaljetsetter

  • you are what is sad, vulcan1429

  • @13trickster actually he was saying it was a goo song!!!?

  • @beautifullivey

What the motherfucking fool - vulcan 1429 - said was it was sad Nina Simone had to resort to "Oooh, Oooh Child" at this point in her career. Nina Simone has said more in one song than vulcan 1429 will say in his/her's sorry, motherfuckin' life. An' by the way, the fuck is a "goo song"?

  • 2Pac made a great song thanks to THIS great song

  • @HendrixLiveOn4ever So that's how i know this song! From 2pac- keep ya head up!

  • snglrich@yahoo.com

  • Loved your vid......thanks for posting....

    Some day.....

  • this song reminds me that things will get better

  • Great.

  • No....she had to cover songs by children in the end! How sad....

  • @vulcan1429 Man, shut the fuck up. It's a great song, retard.

  • This is such a lovely video. Thank you for posting it.

  • love nina simone

  • Good work. Classic song

  • Much Love - Mother-Sistah

  • Brilliant track but have to agree with cdp1 - the tempo is just too fast - check out the Five stair steps version and I'm sure you will agree :)

  • With all due respect... This tempo is too fast and I don't like the vocal. The original versionis fantastic, this remake is pretty bad.

  • @cdp1 I agree with the Tempo being sped up too quickly. But I disagree with the vocals. She puts love & energy into each word/thought/note/phrase and you can feel it.

  • she is awesome , good for her when the worl was tuff on her race and she still held her head high...

  • the original is better

  • I love this record, it really makes me want to cry at times as it helped my through some hard family problems a few months back!! Nice one Nina!

  • Love Nina.......but nothing beats The Five Stairsteps original!

  • So Lovely!

    R.I.P Nina!

  • So Lovely!

    R.I.P Nina!

  • This is amazing! I really love this version of this song. The 3:17min this song takes, make me feel like anything is possible, and that the world isn't such a bad place, aften all. Love it!

  • Classic song gets to me every time!

  • great song no matter what others think. nina simone adds something special to this version of this song

  • RIP, Donna.....thank u for turning me on to Nina *SMILE

  • Nina was a classical pianist turned soul diva, an outspoken civil rights activist who channeled much of that energy into songs of great beauty, honesty and power. She meant every word and every note, and that is why she is loved the world over.

  • @millvalleyrn Amen! I am a huge fan, and nobody understands it. But I think she was just amazing. It's nice to find a fellow fan.

  • This is very first version of this song i've heard and i love it, just as i love Nina Simone.

  • Oh no! what is this!! Never heard this one.. Thanks thanks thanks for the upload thepowderedclouds.

  • Too fast. Takes away from the feel of the original. I don't like this interpretation.

  • Wheres the Original one??

  • tupac did a remix to this one?

  • Keep Ya Head Up

  • @Rilltin Tupac :)

  • TUPAC NKKA!

  • Man, Nina Simone could never 'suck', she's a womon of class. OK, the original is great but credit where it is due.

    Moses Presley

  • u suck. ._.

  • best version ever... oohhh child.. :)

  • True, it is the best version. I am surprised by the black people with no soul who have posted negatively here. This woman kills this song with an original interpretation. It is clearly evident that she has a great voice, too - a deep voice for a woman but surely not manly.

  • BADDEST VERSION

  • i like the song but she sounds like a man thats just my opnion im not being rascist im black but that wouldnt be racist anyway.. she sounds like a man

  • actually, i hav never watched this song, recentlyi watched for the first time one performed by five stairsteps, and i was like what...its a woman, so mayb the song is suppose to hav a strong manly voice...:)

  • YesMaybeNever:

When I first heard her years ago I thought she was a man too, on 'My Baby just cares for me" . Then I fell in love with her and so did my Grandfather.

I'm white/red and my wife is fully yellow and after being pronounced married we exited to a Nina song!

  • very nice song

  • pretty good, but I like the Beth Orton cover version. She sings it with passion!

  • You heard, did I studdah.

  • im looking for the same song

  • lookin for the the version of this song that appears on 'Boyz N Tha Hood' where can i find it?

  • The five stairsteps - ooh child! although evey copy ive found has been really quiet when copied to mp3.

  • Fuck knows. I've heard about 20 covers trying to find it though. Whoever wrote this must have been a billionaire.

  • that would be the original version by " the 5 stairsteps"

  • the version from BoYz N Tha HooD is

    Beth Orton - OOh Child

    kool bludd

  • luv disss tracck

  • Amazing only Nina can do this song like this

  • Spoken like a true 19 year old. You don't know shit! This version is unbelievably good, revealing strong vocal control and originality. btw, does Kirk Franklin even sing?

  • Not really, this is a horrible version. Powerful voice? As if. nIn

  • WHAT?!

  • I just don't like the "Ooh" part she gives out.. But she's definitely got a great and powerful voice.

If only her "Ooh" was sweeter.. or softer and less jumpy.

  • She was a great woman! Beautiful Tribute.... video.

    Thank you!

    Groovinwalrus

  • this song is amazing, no matter who sings it..usually i hate covers...i cant decide who's version to download

  • Heard this on the radio while driving home to Canada from NYC on the day she died. Have had the devil of a time tracking down this track ever since. Finally thanks to Youtube I found it. I've listened to this song whenever I'm down and feel I need a boost, ever since 1970. And you know what -it always works! Thanks Nina, you'll live forever! Tomorrow is my time!

  • :) thats good to know, i still listen to this song and im 18, it just gives me that drive when im in a sad mood, and i just continue on, but i have a question, is this the original, no? so many people have redone it.

  • damn this shits deep hahaha damn im finally growing up it feels good

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck does that mean? O_O

  • hehe niceone =)

  • @laker1516

she didnt write it though, the 5 stairsteps made it

  • Oh my God this song actually has twenty dozen covers. Why don't people just write their own goddamn music. Where's the version from Boyz N The Hood.

  • the fiver stairsteps wrote that song, but their label isnt lettin anyone use it on youtube. they bein hella gay so we have to listen to all these covers. i feel u on the boyz tho.

  • What an arrangement, it soars!

    Slammin'!

  • me too I love you

  • I want to be there on Karaoki Night in Heaven when Nina decides to take the mic...

  • Beautiful words.

  • she was the greatest

  • best version

  • Beautiful, super!

  • is there a slower version of this song?

  • The original was by the five stairsteps. Its slighly slower.

  • this song has a catchy tune

  • great song very touching

  • this was the first version i heard...i guess i'm biased towards it, but i like it better than the original

  • This is so nice but it still doesnt beat the Stairsteps version.
