I absolutely loved Hanauma Bay. If I ever got the chance to go back to Hawaii again I'd take it in a heartbeat! It's such a beautiful place. It's disappointing to hear that other tourists are littering there. I myself would never think about doing that, it's not fair to the wildlife or the other tourists.
I'm going in august 09. From what i've been reading, you have to get there early because they only let a certain amount of people in? I'll have to check when this place opens in august so I can make sure I'm one of the first ones in. I can't wait!!
Hanauma Bay used to be totally gorgeous, until the tourists started using it like a trash can. Whenever I get a chance, I take a net bag and go snorkeling for litter. Once I picked up 11 pieces of gum and 34 of those things the snorkelers use to tie their tubes to their masks! Can you believe it? How can people be so clueless?
I encourage other visiting snorkelers to dive for litter in beautiful Hanauma Bay and help keep this wildlife preserve pristine,as it should be. Thanks!

People go there to enjoy thinking that places like this was created only for them to have fun.
Actions like yours should be followed for everybody. Congratulations for your iniciative.
I live in a very nice and wild place in Brazil. Everyday I went surf, I bring back lots of trash.
At least, each day a can see more and more people helping to save the world. I only hope that it isn't to late.
