I got the impression that the mother was not seeking to press charges against her daughter, but came to the police to seek help in protecting her daughtet from these older men. Some municipalities don't let officers have a taser until they get tased themselves as part of the training program, because of that tasers have been used much more responsibly.

Tasers should be regulated; you have to take a 1-day course and get tased by a light duty taser at the end. Then you'll have a license which lets you carry one around(even concealed) legally all you want.

Also according to the other news report; the girl's head wound required 18 staples and numerous stiches. The doctor that treated her said that the taser prongs did infact penetrate her skull, and that as a result electric current was applied directly to her brain. The girl now has problems with balance and can no longer climb stairs without assistance. This child is now disabled because of senseless brutality by a police officer.

I saw another news clip about this story. The mother came to the police station for help because her daughter was texting explicit messages to older men. I got the impression that the mother was not seeking to press charges against her daughter, but came to the police to seek help in protecting her daughtet from these older men. At the time this happened the police chief had not yet fabricated the "she was running into traffic" excuse.

All pets are to be properly restrained, even on the owners property to allow safety to others. Some municipalities don't let officers have a taser until they get tased themselves as part of the training program, because of that tasers have been used much more responsibly.
Same thing with bean bags and mace.
Tasers should be regulated; you have to take a 1-day course and get tased by a light duty taser at the end. Then you'll have a license which lets you carry one around(even concealed) legally all you want.

i dont know what they teach in america to police officers. but in finland we teach, locks, disarming and other close combat tecniecs. so if some one is attacking with knife, they dont use taser. we dont have tasers any more bechose it turned out that they can couse heart attacks to some people. in here police are respected, bechose it takes years to become one and they are extremly highly trained so that they never need to use gun.

@gooddarkjedi Yeah, sadly that whole disarming thing doesn't work out too well all the time. My Dad (a retired Police capitan) had a video E-mailed to him, apparently some officer was trying to disarm a guy with a knife with his hands.
Wrong move.
The officer receaved many deep and severe cuts, and had to be hospitalized. Which is why (for my Dad's department at least) it is legal to pull a gun on a suspect with a knife if they are within 15 feet.

they (TYT) makes it sound like this "14 year old girl" was all young and helpless, just being a teen and pranced off to fairy land then a 9'17" fire demon cop kicked over a buss in order to tase her ass.
did the girl have a weapon/? no/yes? prior known violent behavior? no/yes? actions leading up to /moments before being tased? etc....these are called details, much needed. Even Hitler can be spun into a victim

@destin325 On the other hand, the cop sais he tazed a 14yo girl because she crossed the street without looking... You'd think if she was armed he could have given a better reason. Also: she's a 14yo girl. Actions leading up to being tased and prior known violent behavior shouldn't be an issue in a confrontation between a 14yo girl and a trained police officer... And if there was danger to other civilians, you'd expect that to have been reported by the officer as a reason no?

@hakobo15 Hey hobo,You don't think the same family would sue had their daughter got hit and killed after she went to them for help? Police get sued when they do right or wrong. It's easy money most times for lawyers. Ever heard of wrongful death?I'll bet some bottom feeding attorney would have called everyday day for a week if he knew the family would sue that department. I don't think the cop should have tasered her but cops are in no win situations all the time.That's all I is sayin'.

I was told that when cops are given a taser, they have to get tasered themselves so they know what it feels like...but then you'd think they'd be smarter about it, wouldn't you?
