  • i prefer to air dry my curlformers. i find that it turns out better that way, maybe because they sit on the hair longer?

  • Where can i get the soft twist rollers?

  • Idk why the word sweetheart is so amusing but we all have our own sense of humor. Anyways, I came off as defensive because ppl on here always seem to rush to make comments without even reading what they're responding to. It's like conversing with a child in a way. Good job with nursing. I could never bring myself to do it but it's a good position. I'm going the pharmacy route myself. Oh and about this video, one thing that I noticed is that my hair has to be totally....

  • I went and go these, and I don't think my hair is long enough! Hmph. I'm going to try again with some setting lotion and see if it comes out better! I do like them though, and they snap back really tight and stay in place throughout the night. I may sit under the dryer next time. When i pulled them apart my hair was still hella frizzy. So I don't know. I got the smaller ones, but my hair is just hard to tame, we shall see. This debate over hair, is crazy! LOL. back and forth. We too grown for it

  • @LynnMonroeTV CONTINUED...totally dry before finishing any style. You should definitely try the dryer. That's just with my hair though and it may not work for you. It's worth a try though.

  • Hi...I really like your videos. I interested in gettin my hair twisted up for the summer. Question? Do you twist your hair going back in like a cornrow style or just a whole bunch of small double strand twists all around?

  • where do you get curlformers from?

  • This is great and I am glad that there are finally videos for natural hair. I locked my hair a year ago and never looked back. I wish that I did it years ago. Your hair looks great!

  • natural hairstyles look so much more beautiful than fake hair on every black woman. just like white women look so much better with their natural hair than those skanky extensions they wear on shows like rock of love, lol.

  • what did u oil it with?

  • lol

  • how would you sleep in your new curls?

  • Wow i seen a pack of 12 or 20 curlformers at the family dollar today for $1!!!

  • @luciousndivine1 Really? I hope it's still there if I go to a family dollar store.

  • Thanks for this. I am watching it almost two years later and very excited and appreciative of this vid.

  • hey what oil did u put on your hair before your placed it in the curlformers

  • i use the soft bendy rollers they r comfy2 sleep in and they give me awesome soft curls thats aren't too tight without the heat! Who knew rollers would give better curls than an iron expensive?

  • your video helped me alot becasue i want a dry curl my hair is naturally straight and i want to try something different .

i have question do you know what's the best products to use for a dry cur?

  • **runs out to get curl formers** :-)

  • Thanks for the tutorials. I wear my hair naturals since august of 09 et discovered youtube only a couple of months ago. Its truly a God sent in my journey as I am learning to style my natural hair to feel and look pretty. Would you recommand a good adress to purchase sheabutter online ? Thanks.

  • i bought 8 of them for 1.00

  • I love your hair, it's very similar to mine. So far I've been natural 1 year and 6 months as of today. I've been searching for videos of natural hair that is like mine and what styles I can do and not look like a 12 year old. So I was just wondering what type infusium 23 product did you use with ur curlformers?

  • hi ladies just a FyI you can get the dup for curlformers which are less expensive they are called MAGIC LEVERAG you can find them on ebay for about 11.00 The same product!

  • thanks for this video! love ur hair! :)

  • ur hair is so beautiful!

  • U know what, if u went for the bald 8ball look, You would still look HOT,,,,,,,,,,(sizzle sizzle)

  • Luv U! :)

  • Love the curlformers!

  • I reaally like your kinks!

  • I like the curlformers also, looks like they work well. It's amazing the length & straight ends with no heat. That's enough for me to at least try the $12 pack, I wish it wasn't that much & that more were more in the pack, but anyway...Thanks!

  • People who are envious tend to speak the loudest, just for ur info :)

  • ---- amen!!!! If they dont like the freakin video then they need not comment. If i was a natural sister I would try this. But I like all your info... very very very helpful.

  • OMG who is that little sod ilvemi, go hide yourself child! stupid little thing! why she all in here looking at natural hair videos if she doesn't like the look of natural hair? I love your hair BTW! it's so beautiful and bouncy!!

  • @RusticBeauty It is good that you blocked that person, people like that , who make those type of comments on a ongoing basis are usually spammers and like to cause havoc.

  • how sad r u..lol

  • What are you talking about? I guess I should have said that people talking trash about the video is sad. The youtube drama is annoying.

  • what is infusim 23 ?

  • I like this. I may give it a try. You have great hair by the way.

  • you have really long hair why dont you where it straight "NATURAL" hair is ugly on you (no offence) im not sayin your ugly cuz your not (no homo) but its just not the right kind of hair styles for you

  • aqnd i aint lil hoe

  • why is it that Blk ppl believe that only "some" ppl can wear their hair natural. I mean, do we ever see Asian, Latino, Whites, Indian, Native American, ect. tell each other such nonsense like that only some of them look good with their hair natural and that most of them should completely alter their natural hair b/c the whole straight look doesn't work for all of them- NO- we don't see that. They wear it the way it grows out of their scalp and Blks shouldn't be the exception to this rule.

  • Ignorance is bliss...

  • I know a lot of white women and 95% of them dye their hair religiously and a boat load more wear "extensions". They might not perm or relax their hair like we tend to, but let's not get it twisted about them wearing their hair "natural". It's a western female thing. Most of us are trained to think we're not good enough the way we are naturally.

  • so, 95% of the white female population dye their hair? really? When given a choice, do wht kids choose a blk doll as the pretty, best doll over the white one? There's a vid here where blk kids were given the test and 11/15 of them chose the white doll as the best doll. Using weaves or dye 2 try a new look TEMPORARILY and using harsh burning chems to achieve a PERMANENT change in hair 2 make it "good" b/c they believe their own hair texture is disgusting and ugly are obviously 2 different things.

  • Amen!

  • @makeupnewbie23 yes!!!!!! thank you!!!! this is sooo TRUE. and the funny thing is, from my experiences, the only people i've ever heard say they don't like natural black hair is the blacks themselves. most other races think we look better with our natural hair when it's well cared for and they seem to laugh and make fun of all the girls who wear weaves/fake hair, sadly... i don't know how it all got started or who thought fake hair would look better, but it definitely doesn't.

  • @leahtmusic thats my experience as well..sad but true..

  • @makeupnewbie23 Who said that? That only some people can wear their hair natural? And if you think about it nobody really wears their hair "natural". All races curl their hair, straighten it , dye it, perm it to make it curly and put in extensions. Nobody older than fourteen actually wears their hair the way it grows out of their scalp.

  • @GwendolynRaine okay, let me explain what I meant. They, for the most part, do not alter thier hair to look like ours. They all pretty much have straight hair, compared to our natural kinks, wavy white/asian/hispanic hair is not that different from straight or curly white/asian/hispanic hair- in comparison to us. We go all the way from beautiful kinks to bone straight. Do they alter thier hair that much? or is it very similar to thier natural hair? lets just be real!

  • @makeupnewbie23 I know exactly what you mean and I totally agree with you. Yes all races do things to their hair but it's black ppl that alter it in the most drastic and permanent way.

  • @411blah411

I don't think it's just black people. I know Indian people that used perms to straightened their hair. You may assume that some of people you see, are using their natural hair but you have no way of knowing what they do to their hair. Every person is different and I just feel it's a common mindset to put everyone under one category because those all the people you know. Everyone has their own type of hair, due to genetics, so I hate the assumption that all black people are the same

  • @yaoilovertash I don't think you read what I typed. I clearly typed "Yes all races do things to their hair". I thought it was clear what that statment is saying but I'll explain. It means that ALL RACES DO THINGS TO THEIR HAIR. I have plenty of friends that aren't black that get perms. In fact my vietnamese friend just did so not too long ago. I'm not saying that every person that I know personally is how the world is. That's a ridiculous and naive assumption to make. So let me expand on what...

  • @yaoilovertash CONTINUED...I was trying to get at. Black women (and this is just in general I know this does not apply to every black person on the face of the earth), SEEM to recieve the most turmoil when wearing their natural hair. Due to this unfortunate social stigma that afro textured hair is somehow offensive and must be tamed, it has become commonplace for them to alter/hide it in some way. It's to the point where lil girls are getting perms. They don't understand why, they're just told..

  • @yaoilovertash CONTINUED 2..(if they're told anything) that they just have to or their hair isn't easy to manage. So that's what I meant. It's been ingrained into us that our hair is unacceptable period. I'm glad to see that this is now changing though. I've noticed a lot more black women with natural hair on tv and out in public. It's great to see that yes we can work with/grow/style/manage our natural hair just like anyone else.

  • @yaoilovertash And genetics....lol don't even get me started. All I'll say is that yes, genetics plays a factor in our different hair type. That's a fact even though it has nothing to do with what I was talking about.

  • @411blah411 genetics play a factor in EVERYTHING!!!

  • @LynnMonroeTV Again....genetics has absolutely nothing to do with the argument I was debating. Yes sweetheart...I'm aware of genetics. I'm a science major so all I do is Biology (and genetics) all day long.

  • @411blah411 LOL @ the sweetheart! Girl!! I wasn't even reading your comments! I was co-signing about genetics in general. I never downplayed a thing you said, Good for you that you're a biology major, so am I, and a nursing major, but like i said I wasn't even "into" you debate! You came off a bit defensive to me but that's your problem. All I know is i got stuff with the dumb genetics with the hair. Have a blessed one "sweetheart" LMBO, so dismissive when speaking to another grown women.

  • @makeupnewbie23 And if you're not black, the statement you just made is EXTREMELY presumptuous and kind of arrogant honestly. Natural hair is time-consuming and at times frustrating to take care of, and if you're not willing to put in that time, then there's no point. You don't take care of it, and it won't look good. I'm natural, I understand that some people aren't up for it. But it is GORGEOUS when it's healthy, so I could never pass it up.

  • @GwendolynRaine and it is soooo much harder to take care of D:

  • @teardropsrnng When you really think about it, it's just has difficult to take care of permed hair as well. Take a moment to think beyond just combing. Yes it's easier to comb permed hair than natural hair. The thing is that, most of the time, ppl with permed hair don't take care of it. Permed hair actually is more difficult to take care of due to the chemical damage it has sustained. It's extremely fragile and must be handled with extreme care so that it won't break off.

  • @411blah411 permed hair is easy to take care of. AND it is less time consuming than natural hair

  • @makeupnewbie23 actually, most people of any race straighten their hair. for example, most asains have curly hair, they just get it permanent straightened, like us black people. Why can't people just let others wear their hair the way they want to? why does it bother you so much that some people don't like the way they look with their hair? its not on your head so don't worry about it

  • @teardropsrnng True.

  • @teardropsrnng No asian I know (korean, chinese, japanese, viet....etc) gets a perm to get straight hair. I'm not saying it's not possible but I've personally never seen it. Actually a friend of mine (she's viet), just got a perm and it's curly (and cute).

  • @411blah411 um, most of my friends are asian AND it was on oprah. I never said they get perms, don't put words in my mouth, but they use other means, chemical and non chemical, to get their hair straight. most asians have wavy hair dear. :]

  • i hope im not coming off as mean. if I am I'm not doing it on purpose :]

  • @teardropsrnng LOL....interesting about the asian thing. Totally opposite where I am. I'm not calling you a liar tho. And about the permed hair. What I meant is that if a person were to properly take care of their permed hair it would be difficult. Yes it's very easy just to have permed hair. I mean it's just straight and flat so u can jus roll out of bed, easy to comb, and u stay away from water so no problems there. Taking proper care of it to experience length retention and minimize breakage

  • @teardropsrnng CONT'D is something different. For example, a friend of mine loves her permed hair. I've known her for about 9 years now and her hair has been at her shoulders for that entire length of time. She doesn't understand why it won't "grow" any longer cause she wants longer hair. She only washes it when she goes to the salon, flat irons everyday, combs it constantly, never moisturizes with anything....I'm surprised she's gotten it to stay at her shoulders this whole time. I only have

  • @teardropsrnng CONT'D AGAIN one (black) friend that's natural like me and the rest have perms. The one I told you about is the one that maintains it the best. I think it's because she ties her hair in a scarf at night but the others always get it cut rly short....it grows a lil....cut again due to breakage. This is not proper hair care for a perm. See what I mean? That's the point I'm trying to get at.

  • @teardropsrnng And I'm not trying to come off as mean either. I was just trying to say that yes every race does things to their hair all the time. Fact. But black women tend to alter it the most drastically and permanently (no pun intended) the most often out of everyone else. And I have nothing against perms or whatever else someone feels like doing to themselves. To each his own.

  • @makeupnewbie23 well said!

  • @makeupnewbie23

    i agree!

  • @makeupnewbie23

Technically they don't. I know a lot of people alter their hair by changing their colors or chemically changing their hair. Your making the assumption that everyone is the same. There is no such thing as race and putting a numerous amount of people under a single label, thinking they are all the same is ridiculous. I know black people that never "altered" their hair and others that straightened their hair but I seen people of all races straightening their hair or curling.

  • (1nica8gurl)The point of a 'how to' video is to explain HOW TO. You have made a lot of annoying comments on my videos now...if you don't like them please Never watch any of them again. Thank you.

  • (1nica8gurl)Hey girl, thank YOU, for CONTINUING to watch my videos even though you thought my voice was so annoying. You have been BLOCKED, good day mate!

  • @RusticBeauty

lol that's hilarious I hate negative people Keep up the good work!!

  • she doesn't even have dreads in her hair, moron. And secondly, your just jealous of her beautiful hair, and your a loser with no social life, going around harassing people who did nothing to you.

  • This is sad.

  • how is it sad?

  • Not her video...I love her videos just to clarify, people coming on Youtube being negative on someone's channel is sad......... I guess I should have said more it was in response to someone else.

  • Rusticbeauty, what did you use to set your hair?

  • wow u really have experimenting w/natural hair down to a science LOL im transitioning right now and i find if you two strand twist ur hair first the soft twist rollers work better but in my opinion two strand twisting and perm rods work the best!

  • the curlformer are the bomb they are worth the 59.99 price tag. I use them on my daughters and myself for excellent results on natural hair. We all have different textures and they work for all of us.

  • at sallys they are $12!

  • The whole set is $59. the 12.00 wont do your entire head there is only 4-10 in that pack.

  • Yes exact what Thegoddess2 said the 59. pack has 40 different size curlformers and also the hook. If you purchase seperately it will be much more expensive. If you have really long hair you may need to purchase the blue ones. For me and my girls the kit works for all three of us.

  • lol, it was brave of you to experiment on your own hair.

Thanks for taking one for the team. LOL!

  • I'm SO glad you did this video! I saw other videos and they were great for TECHNIQUE but yours is what I needed to see for OUTCOME. With my budget, if I'm going to drop $59.99 or even $12.99 on something I need to see how it's going to look on hair that's close to my texture (CNapp, aka cloud nap, cotton nap, classic nap ;) ). I'm beginning to think you're the CNapp's go-to person for natural hair techniques. Thanks again!

  • cuteee i like the last one u took out ...:>

  • This is the first video I watched before being sucked into the natural hair world and going to get my big chop, Thanks for the inspiration

  • Rustic Beauty, she tries them out so we dont have too!! I lke the first one, but have a question, can you sleep in those? they look uncomfortable, but looks can be decieving.

  • (peepla7) I have never sleep on them, but if you sleep on your back it probably would be very uncomfortable. But if you sleep on your side you could probably 'endure' it.lol

  • @peepla7 tonhight I slepep white thes.......I'm Italian .....

  • @peepla7 tonight I sleep with thes....bho ......I'm Italian

  • Hi, I wanted to know is there any other products that you can use with the curlformers on natural hair, and would shea butter alone help? whcih is the best products really

  • (angelslight7)The products I mentioned in the vid are the only ones I experiemented on, so I couldn't tell you if anything else worked well. The yt user 'ladykpnyc' has a video that you might want to take a look at dealing with curlformers.

  • where can i get those?

  • (dache2007) The curlformers at sallys, and the soft twist rollers from sallys or a beauty supply store.

  • you should be a scientist.

  • When I do my hair and your hair in my hair are the same texture. I wash my hair and towel dry real good. I use Black and Sassy setting cream, TCB, and Lottabody and I sections and put a little on each section and cornroll them down put a sponge roller at the end. let air dry overnight and finger comb.

  • Wow this vid is a great idea and very helpful. Thanks so much.

  • See the Rageaze video on you tube, curl on dry hair. It's so easy.

  • ok, so is your hair naturally straight here? is this a process you would do after you wash your hair and decide not to 2-strand twist, or is this done after the 2-strand starts to fade and you want to keep a curl in your hair, or maybe both ;-)!!!

  • (warmspiritme)I did not use any heat to straighten or anything. You could do this after you have washed it, of when the 2 strand twists begin to fade..it just has to be on wet hair to produce the best results-in my opinion.

  • wow, I cant wait until my hair is long enough to rock the curlformers, they look great.

  • (Curlmebella) They have different size curlformers you should google it.

  • i actually like the soft twist rollers better

  • you're really pretty :D

  • Did you sit under a dryer?

  • (PatirceR87) No, I didnt. It probably would have came out better if I did, but I just try to avoid heat.

  • gurl you need to get Loc Loops they work realy well and you can sleep in them

  • (Sugarcanej) I actually have them, they didnt turn out the way I expected, I am going to try different leave ins and see if I see a diffence. Do they work really well on your hair?

  • I used the curlormers and they made my hair too straight for my liking. I tried to pull my hair back into a ponytail afterwards and it was all flyaway as if I had a perm in it. One of my friends did say that she liked the results and it had a lot of shine to it after I took them out. I don't know what to use to hold the curl though, any suggestions?

  • I absolutely love the way the curlformers came out. Gotta get some. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Gosh, the curlformers side came out really nice. You said you have 4b hair? It almost looks like a press and curl.

  • why did you get 6 negative

  • Wow! You had some great results! I liked the curlformer side better. Thanks for this :-D

  • I am going to go get some of those curlformers they came out nice!

  • i liked how the Curlformers came out better! can't wait to get some...

  • the curl formers curl the hair really nice, they both work well but I would go with the curl formers. Love the vid :)

  • yo girl tht is so lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have curlformers and I haven't had success with them yet!!! Let me try it again tonight. Thanks!!!

  • hard to see.

  • I love your hair, so shiny and long and healthy..when will you be posting the routine video? or tips for us to grow our hair? let me know please

  • wow. i've never seen curlformers b4. they make beautiful curls. i think the soft twist rollers make pretty nice curls too depending on the look you're goin for.

  • The curl formers definately look better. Love the curls you got from them.

  • I really liked this video. It was very informative. I am surprised that you can get so many different looking curls...Also how did you get it to curl the other way from the first video is that with a rod or the nautral way it grows? It's really pretty.

  • The other curls or spirals are from twist-outs...I just take two sections of hair(while wet) and twist them....let them dry overnight and then unravel.
