I was really sorry for my parents about ten years ago in Ohio, there had been a power outtage in a snowstorm & my mom sent my father to stand in line at McDonald's for an hour to get their morning coffee! you should buy a small solar system and hook it up to a deep cell batt . when I was with out power this past winter for 3 days it powered a electric blanket and a few CFL lights . it was hard but doable

Ours went out 8 days... Luckily we have marine batteries, Converters etc.. and could run a TV, The Internet, Charge cell phones, and run a coffee pot. And have gas stove and plenty of propane. We had neighbors at our door the next day asking how we had a light on. And had to tell them what to do. Battery would die, we'd drive around, charge it back up while running another down.
