@aacvvcaa That belongs to an iPhone 2g. And 3.1.3 was the last Official firmware by Apple for you IPhone 2g. There will be no further updates. So stay on 3.1.3 . I have a video on my channel if you want to jailbreak your iPhone 2g on 3.1.3.

@rahim5487 iPhone 4 camera and its flash are attached together. It comes as one piece of Hardware. Try to download and flashlight app from Apple Store and test it out completely. If you are sure that your flash light don't respond, then you will have to replace it with a new one. Its an easy fix. And anybody with right iphone 4 opening tools can replace it. You can do it yourself. There are hundreds of videos on youtube also that will come in handy. Good Luck !!

Locate the Hots file:

Windows:

Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\et­c\ and locate hosts file.

Open and edit the hosts file in Notepad.

Note: Win 7 and Vista users MUST run Notepad with admin privileges. Right click on Notepad app and select Run as Administrator.

Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file:

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

remove any other line that contains gs.apple.com

MAKE SURE ITUNES IS CLOSED

@dddman777 If you are already in DFU mode (Blank screen) on your iPhone then Hold down Home and Power buttons together for 15 seconds exactly. Your iPhone will reboot. THen follow the video.

I tried your tutorial but some error occurs every time I try to do it. It happend at the beginning. When I'm trying to put the iphone in a DFU mode, the error occurs. There is a notice like this: "DFU Mode failed. No device detected. You probably misunderstood the instructions. Please consult Google or Youtube for instructions on how to enter DFU mode."

Thanks a lot emac2299, i successfully updated my 3Gs to 4.2.1. I had problems with error 3194 but I fixed it by adding an entry to the hosts.

For these who have this problem under Windows, go to Windows >> System32 >> drivers >> etc. Here you find a file named "hosts". Open it (i.e. using notepad) and add the following line at the end "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" without quotes. Save the file and close iTunes. It would be good to restart the PC too. Now start the process all over again.
