It's pretty amazing that Windows doesn't have a readily accessible alarm clock. Thanks for the info. It fairly convoluted compared with a very simple user interface that MS should have included 25 years ago.
Thank you so much. Since I got my new computer I haven't had enough electrical outlets for my clock alarm and, with school starting again in a week, I've been afraid I'll sleep through my phone's piddly alarm.
DAMN WISH I READ THAT BEFORE I FINISHED THE TASK!!! U should really tell people in this vid how to get the comp to sound off, considering most ppl TURN OFF their computers for the night. GOOD ADVICE THOUGH THANKS. and MICROSOFT LISTEN UP : GET US AN ALARM THAT COMES WITH WINDOWS...
also, u should tell people how to find the task after they clicked "finish". i cant even find it now to modify it to sound off when my computer is asleep.
@SkepticStream Task Scheduler > (the task you've scheduled, e.g. "alarm" - as per above) *double click* > Conditions (General | Triggers | Actions | Conditions | Settings | History) > Wake the computer to run this task.
I'm doing this on Windows Vista - I don't know if it's different on different systems.
@stardreamer13 On the left where it says Task schedule (local) under that there is Task schedule Library its in there just find it right click it and click disable
@daniel12345678910hb no but you can set it to wake up if its asleep, so your working together, just read through the options, i had a decent bit of options to choose from
Thank youuu!! I have 10 pill a day to take and i am extremely forgetful. It is a matter of life and death if i keep forgetting my medication. It's so hard to find a good effective way to keep reminding me to take every dose, but with my computer on all the time, this is perfect!
@sweetboyshane i dont know if you've figured this out yet but... you enter task scheduler and under "File Action View and help it says task scheduler (local) and below that it says task scheduler library. click on that... in the center column it should show your alarm... right click on it... and click disable... hope i helped!!
@Hittman305 Yeah, same issue. My workaround, was to download a free little programed called simply, Alarm. Does pretty much the same thing, without the hassle. I had it set up to my computer speakers, and have it freaking BLAST the superman theme in the morning. HAHA
On my computer. (Win Xp) it is not under admin tools. There is a section called "Scheduled tasks" and that's where you do it from. Dunno why its different.
You have to make sure the settings are to play it even if the computer is asleep IF there is a setting for it, otherwise you will have to leave the computer on, it's no big deal if all the lights are covered (sleep hygiene)

my phone is about to die and i had no source to wake me up in the morning for work. So I googled "how to set an alarm on your computer" and now I have a FUCKIN Tetris remix about to wake me up! Hell yea! Im gonna be so pumped to start the day!
Unfortunately, it does not work when computer is in "sleep" or "hibernate" mode. At least when I tried. Maybe there is some other setting to get it to work in those modes.
u find the task... click on it.. and then at the right side.. it ll give u a bucnh of options as to.. run, end ... find delete.. and it ll delete for u.
i read somewhere that there should be an option that says "wake up from stand by to perform this task".. otherwise, use "WakeupOnStandBy" to make your computer startup at a scheduled time, you can also make it start a program to play music. just google it :-D
You can do this on any Windows Platform running Task Scheduler. If you do not want to leave your computer on all night: Enter BIOS Menu on computer startup and enter the power management settings. Set the computer to wake up 5 or 10 minutes before your alarm and make sure your computer automatically logs in and does not wait for a password.
Instead of picking a song (which will play by itself with no way to turn it off) make a playlist with the song in it. follow all the steps but in the music folder or wherever you store your music, choose the play list. This will make media player open up where you can turn the song off.
Dude you are AWESOME.....I've always had problems getting up because my alarm clocks works fine and loud but i sleep really really deep....NOW PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED THNX A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

something funny Ive noticed, whenever someone makes a video with xp the vista users just try it.but whenever someone with xp makes a video, people with xp comment asking if it works for Xp.
So this does bring up a music player - Windows Media, Quicktime, etc. But it doesn't play it.
