i remember when i was little i went here for a class trip and just sorta looked around and yawned not really realizing the truly amazing things i was seeing, but now that im older for my birthday im going back and will really take it all in, and its going to be cool.( but can anyone tell me an exhibit maybe you would recommend visiting )
I was so excited to go back here & see the same exhibits as an adult that I saw as a boy on my 3rd grade class trip. But growing up & all those years of political correctness had done something to me. Now I knew that only th small graybit of the dinosaur skeleton was real. The rest (99% of each "skeleton") was pure plaster theory. And all the cases were nothing but dead animals...In Teddy Roosevelt's time, before movies television & even photography or zoos were what they are, this was a great
@badSANTA253 If by guides you mean tour, then you simply have to sign up for one or tag along with a tour group when you get there. If you mean by map, there are ipod touches with an app that shows you how to and where you are in the museum, they are free all you need is to give in your id, The locker rooms are for volunteers and employees but there is coat check near the entrance. Hope i helped!
just went to this museum today and the metropolition arts musem... they have some really amazing things... i will never forget this day,, hope to visit it soon again =]
Me and my family are going here tomorrow. Can not wait!!! I am sooooo excited and my kids are chomping at the bit to get there =) Thank you for the quick view!
I've never seen a dinosaur skull before I remember I've been in this museum today and first when I saw this long neck Dino I was like holy shit I can't belive I can't even photo it but when you bought a ticket there was no more big dinosaurs only whale is cool lol
at 5:24....if you go theerre you look up and you feel pretty shaky and feel like its gonna fall....over by the stairs there is a giant humpback whale with a giant squid on it its freaky and its are dark around it so it looks llike it goes all the way down and its real =)
It really is awesome. I grew up in the place since my dad worked there for over twenty years. No natural history museum I've ever been to since measures up to it.
The statue of Teddy Roosevelt in the front of the museum, my algebra teacher told our class that the man on his left is her great-grandparent's favorite butler!
Wow! I remember when it was free admission (now I'm showing my age). The planetarium always charged to get it in but dad worked there so we always got a free pass for any show we wanted to see.
wow. I did not see the rain forest , butterfly, or ocean life sections when I was there in like 05 or 06. Were those recent additions, or did i see less than I thought?
yeah probably. I spent a whole lot less time there than I would have liked. of course, i would have liked to stay there for a week at the least, but you get the idea.
I was there earlier today and the only things I have to complain about are that the gift shop is overpriced (an ecosphere terrarium for $120!?) the way around is really bad and the 4th floor cafe has EXTREMELY OVERPRICED SANDWICHES!$12 FOR A HAM SANDWICH!?
I was there a few days ago. Tip - you need a full day to appreciate everything, I only had half a day and had to rush through some of it. I did the Wild Ocean Imax film and was pretty dissapointed; it was all about sardines?!
First seconds of the movie I thought you've started at the toilet!

You probably thought this deer was alive. And this coyote was alive. And this pheasant was alive. Nope, they're not. They're dead.

This museum is awesome!
I'm going to visit it in December. I went once before but I didn't get to see everything.
Museums in New York are always fun to go to. You learn a lot.

Cool.
I was born in NYC but I've lived in Miami most of my life. I'm going back up there in one week.
The museum is definitely one of the first places I'll visit. I did go once before but I didn't get to see everything.
I'm really excited about seeing the museum again.

They only started using that subway entrance again a couple of years back. It was shut down for years for safety reasons.
