I wanna make a vid for the 2012 lake Dolores its so much shittier. I use to go here when I was a kid an to see it now it's like armagedon hit. People have been sleeping there they stripped the copper it's a rad skate spot. Its a sketchy place full of homeless crackheads
@Strivenigga Yes,.,..Hilarious ha ha...I hope you're like 8-11 years old to say something like that. If so forget my comment. Any older you need a role model and a life.
I live 2000 miles away from this place but after passing it a few dozen times my curiosity got the best of me. Someone online said that there's a documentary being made about the park and several posters claim that it will be reopened in the near future. I hope it does rise again, but the main reasons for it's original demise (people are hauling butt to get to LV or back home to LA after losing all of their money, they won't stop for a few hours) or - water is too precious in the desert.
This was the first water park i had ever went to. I use to go every weekend since I live in Barstow, now... I shred that place with my bike. Old memories of when I was a lil kid with my floaties on. Haha... Man, that place was great. And it still is.
Question: why were there mattresses in an abandoned waterpark? Obviously, someone must've thought to sleep in there or use it as a dump. But wasn't there more convenient places for a dump, and weren't there more convenient bedding articles (i.e. sleeping bags, air mattresses) one could've brought?
I've always wanted to come in here whenever my and my family pass by here on our way to vegas from LA. it seems so cool. but it always breaks my heart to see a place once so full of people abandoned.
This is so sad to see. My great grandparents were the creators and owner of this once beautiful park! After they sold it the new owners made it just like every other water park out there and no one would drive that far when they could go right downt the street to the same thing. I have not had the chance to visit the park but someday hope to even though it's closed. My family has so many great memories there! Thank you for posting this video even though it's very sad to see its condition.
@mrsbrittallen Thanks for your note. I too find it sad. I'm glad you and you're family have great memories to hold onto. Eventually for everything that's all we have
Thank you for posting. For some reason, I'm fascinated by the eeriness of abandonded pools, but a whole delapidated waterpark is extra chilling. I always say abandonded pools are like ghosts that everyone can see.
An employee sued and won over 4 million dollars because he became paraplegic after sneaking into the park after hours and going down a water slide into a partially full pool.
@superdad1118 Yes, but why did it fail? Perhaps it was in a bad spot - in the middle of the desert. It reportedly saw "numerous incarnations" before "closing for good" in 2004. It wasn't an amusement park to begin with: it was a private recreational lake. And then it was opened to the public, and someone added rides and kept adding rides until it was too expensive to run for its potential customer base. This didn't keep people from trying, though.
Would be a place to play paintball
