ADT & Brinks will both have local offices with marked company trucks. & have both been around for decades. APX works out of apartments as thier office during the summer. Most of their techs are college students trained over spring break. APX is all about instaling alot of systems quickly and then they leave your town come Sept. Again ask your APX sales rep to see their local office, & see what happens. Remember these the are providers of your home security. What set up gives you more confidence.

Well between APX does not own their own/run any alarm monitoring stations, and Brinks does. Is you are installed by Brinks your are monitored by Brinks. Installed by APX you are monitored by who ever they sell their your monitoring contract to. APX used to sell the people they signed up to a monitoring station called SAI, but it went our of business. Between APX and Brinks, choose Brinks, its stable, remember its a security system your paying for not a stereo system.

Summer sales use high pressure tatics and deception to close on deals. Also they are not local, the rent an apartment as their "office" and leave at the end of the summer. I challenge anyone to find their local APX office in December. Utah doesn't count. They are based in Utah and eastern Idaho. They use former mormon missionaries to knock on doors, Mormons are trained in selling lies door to door. At the end of the summer they return to Utah with your money and laughing how they scammed you.

I've been with Platinum Protection for almost a year, yes they came door to door & upgraded my system, but Platinum was very straight foward with me & my husband about what we were getting, we even did a coporate survey that reconfirmed what the representitve already told us, there was no gimic & the Platinum saved our family & sent police when someone tried to break in. Platinum is a legitimate company & highly recommended by my family & friends

These guys just pulled a scam on my 76 year old mom in Vegas. One of their door to door salesmen approached her at 7:00PM on a Saturday night to sell her a new alarm - WTF??? I just happened to call and spoke with the salesman and told him to leave a proposal. I called back a half hour later and discovered that their tecnicians were installing an alarm despite my previous conversation. I told them to leave and finally they did but not before disabling my mom's current alarm.

Brinks wants you to believe that these people are posing as Brinks techs but that is not the truth. The door to door companies offer upgrades and are trained to explain about the differences between companies. This is an attempt by brinks to save customers. Door-to-door companies take about 400,000 customers a summer away from ADT, Brinks, Protection One, etc. The majority of the door-to-door companies are based out of Utah. All that being said you are better off sticking with ADT or Brinks

Exactly.  Any other company that wants to continue to do business knows that you can't be successful long term using shady tactics. Other companies offer upgrades, like you say, over the existing Brinks/ADT equipment, like a cellular backup system, for example. The idea is that the customer signs a new agreement with the new company, who in turn pays for the new equipment. If the customer wanted the equipment from Brinks, they would have to pay for it (or extend their contract anyway).

You really have to be careful these days. Never open the door for anyone you don't know or who your not expecting. You really have to watch out for those other alarms companies too. Brinks is a great alarm company though. I've been with them for almost 10 years and never had a problem. You gotta watch out for most of those other alarm companies though, their a bunch of con artists.
