@ThirdConfession how are they guilty there was no evendence of them doing anything to the 8 yr old boys but when i was listening to disturbed's song three there was a story of this in the description and i saw this: The DNA does match of a pair of individuals (one of them a victim's stepfather) that were admittedly together on the day the children disappeared.
It sickens me that three innocent boys were charged like this with no real evidence. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about that. Even some of the parents of the murdered boys have said in recent years they don't believe these men did it. There is no physical evidence. Creepy teenage boys sometimes claim credit for revolting shock value. Damien may be guilty of that, but nothing proves he murdered anyone. The West Memphis 3 were convicted because, in one form or another, all 3 had confessed to the crimes. Also, there was significant evidence that similar type crimes were talked about & planned beforehand. Add to that, several witnesses placing them in the area, multiple witnesses hearing their admissions, the fiber evidence linking 2 of the suspects, Echols mental history, the lake knife, flimsy alibis & behavior during the trial. Many things convicted these 3. Some may be discounted. Not all.

Why don't you look up the stephanie crow case in Escondido, Ca where they made her teenaged brother confess to killing her even though there was a transients DNA all over. They later recounted. This is the same PD that botched up the Amber Dubois case and the same PD that used to stop pretty white girls and detain them and try to molest them and so forth. The DA took one case I know and the victim was so threatened she never went back. So, there are many corrupt police depts like ESCONDIDO.

The courts are so crooked everywhere and even moreso in some places like Arkansas. Prosecutorial misconduct is de rigueur in Arkansas. States receive federal funds for prisons, which is the financial incentive to imprison people on bogus charges. We constantly see reports of innocent prisoners freed after exculpatory evidence is discovered. Such major cases make the news. Imagine how many people are screwed over by the rotten system in cases both major and minor that are never retried.

It's not only the people of W. Memphis. The court is in Jonesboro. Arrogant Judge David Burnett in Jonesboro who tried the WM3 cases originally has stated that he sees no grounds for a new trial. Mean, stupid, and judgmental people can be found everywhere. The state gets federal funds for keeping inmates in prison, so it doesn't want to free anyone, even obviously innocent prisoners such as the WM3.

@lysyrg25 well most of it has to do with the constant badgering of the police. you have to remember that jessie had a mental handicap, with an IQ of 72 at the time. The pressure he endured must have been overwhelming for him and he just wanted all of it to end. Jessie's statements were very inconsistent. He got the times wrong, said the children had been raped, and said they were tied with rope. the police only focused on the rights of the story and not the definite wrongs.

@uberscheisse He had lawyers present when he admitted being intentionally misleading. His lawyers pled with him to not say anything (read the trascript). So when he confessed the third time, not only was he not being "led by the police", he was directly told by his attorney over and over again not to talk (again, read the transcript). There was a pile of evidence enough for a jury of his peers to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt. I'm not on salary from anyone, I just think and am normal.

Even some of the parents of the murdered boys have said in recent years they don't believe these men did it. There is no physical evidence. Creepy teenage boys sometimes claim credit for revolting shock value. Damien may be guilty of that, but nothing proves he murdered anyone. Jessie's confession was a bad joke that will have no merit if this case ever gets out of Salem, er, um, I mean Arkansas.

The West Memphis 3 were convicted because, in one form or another, all 3 had confessed to the crimes. Also, there was significant evidence that similar type crimes were talked about & planned beforehand. Add to that, several witnesses placing them in the area, multiple witnesses hearing their admissions, the fiber evidence linking 2 of the suspects, Echols mental history, the lake knife, flimsy alibis & behavior during the trial. Many things convicted these 3. Some may be discounted. Not all.

Why don't you look up the stephanie crow case in Escondido, Ca where they made her teenaged brother confess to killing her even though there was a transients DNA all over. They later recounted. This is the same PD that botched up the Amber Dubois case and the same PD that used to stop pretty white girls and detain them and try to molest them and so forth. The DA took one case I know and the victim was so threatened she never went back. So, there are many corrupt police depts like ESCONDIDO.

IT WAS TERRY HOBBS! they recently found shoelace particals on hobbs pocket knife which was used to cut the boys shoe laces and tie them up.

The courts are so crooked everywhere and even moreso in some places like Arkansas. Prosecutorial misconduct is de rigueur in Arkansas. States receive federal funds for prisons, which is the financial incentive to imprison people on bogus charges. We constantly see reports of innocent prisoners freed after exculpatory evidence is discovered. Such major cases make the news. Imagine how many people are screwed over by the rotten system in cases both major and minor that are never retried.

It's not only the people of W. Memphis. The court is in Jonesboro. Arrogant Judge David Burnett in Jonesboro who tried the WM3 cases originally has stated that he sees no grounds for a new trial. Mean, stupid, and judgmental people can be found everywhere. The state gets federal funds for keeping inmates in prison, so it doesn't want to free anyone, even obviously innocent prisoners such as the WM3.

@lysyrg25 well most of it has to do with the constant badgering of the police. you have to remember that jessie had a mental handicap, with an IQ of 72 at the time. The pressure he endured must have been overwhelming for him and he just wanted all of it to end. Jessie's statements were very inconsistent. He got the times wrong, said the children had been raped, and said they were tied with rope. the police only focused on the rights of the story and not the definite wrongs.

@lysyrg25 Jessie did confess, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES! The first confession was taped, and the third confession was also taped (and his lawyers pled with him to keep his mouth shut!). Jessie has a conscience and feels bad about what he was a part of. He had "crying spells" after the murders but before anyone was arrested.

The "confession" they did get was after about ten hours of investigation of which only 46 minutes was recorded! And if what you said was true, then why did Jessie REFUSE TO TESTIFY AGAINST DAMIEN AND JASON WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE A MUCH LIGHTER SENTENCE?! He stated that it was all a lie and would NOT testify even to reduce his own sentence! You are so ignorant of the facts it hurts!

The whole investigation is suspect. They have no physical evidence - whatever they had, they destroyed. Everything was circumstantial and based on the fact that these kids were outcasts.
Are you on salary from the West Memphis Police and the local DA or something?

@uberscheisse He had lawyers present when he admitted being intentionally misleading. His lawyers pled with him to not say anything (read the trascript). So when he confessed the third time, not only was he not being "led by the police", he was directly told by his attorney over and over again not to talk (again, read the transcript). There was a pile of evidence enough for a jury of his peers to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt. I'm not on salary from anyone, I just think and am normal.

come at me with DNA from one of the WM3 or clothing fibers from what they were wearing that night and i'll take you as something more than an idiot crank.

Even though he recanted his "confession" within hours, it was a major factor in all three convictions. Jessie is mentally challenged with a low IQ of only 72.
