They did invade North Korea in the Korean War. They even captured Pyongyang at one point. The Chinese intervened soon after and pushed the US/UN/ROK forces back to the 38th parallel. If the Chinese hadn't made a move, there would be no North Korea today.

At any rate, it's not like South Korea is defenseless. They have the 6th largest army, iirc and their technology/weapon is likely in much better shape and more modern than the North's. This isn't 1950's S. Korea
