7 ¶ And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel: "I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy masters house, and thy masters wives into thy bosom....."
Let me help you with this one, first Saul had only one wife and one concubine (1 Sam. 14:50), second Abner appropriated Saul's concubine for himself (2 Sam. 3:7).
Also in the East it was the general custom for a king's successor to take everything possessed by that king.
God was saying to David, basically, "What is your problem? I gave you everything there was to give. I gave you Saul's total kingdom. Nothing was held back from you, yet you still behave like this."
First you have to know the times and situation David was in. Today that woould look bad, back then no it was normal for the new king to receive all the old king possesed. But as I pointed out the only "wives" David had were not from Saul, read the Book of Chronicles it lists his sons by wives.
Plural marriage was practiced in northern Europe before the "christians" banned it. I was hoping testskriftene would reply. Nowadays marriage is little more than a quaint antiquity in Scandinavia. It's sad because that's where my ancestors are from.
You are from the UK. So you remember that the Viking chiefs and the Anglo-Saxon nobles practiced plural marriage in your country? How is marriage faring now, in the UK? God save the Queen.
My point is that both you and testskriftene are from "christian" nations where the institution of marriage and the nuclear family are disintegrating. Perhaps your state churches and monogamy have failed you.
No you are missing the point, sure everyone sins (falls short, miss the mark) and these people are no exception. But where in the Bible does it say God commanded Polygamy? D&C132 makes it clear, so either your gods change their minds or you are all not following what is commanded.
As for the true Christians, God is clear; polygamy is a sin and does not nor has ever commanded it. It is man who put that into effect, not God.
It's funny how all the foundering fathers of Mormonism spoke so boldly that polygamy should not be abolished yet it did in 1890 they stopped. Thats a big red flag that Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Taylor and others where not speaking by the authority of God rendering them false prophets thus making Mormonism FALSE!!
program? lol!
