  • when is it set? ages in the future?

  • @LAmileycyrusLA Not really that far in the future. I can't recall exactly, but close to present day, I think.

  • Anyone seen any video reviews or read any online reviews about the e-book

April Curran Meets the Vampire of Crimson Cove High School?

  • great awsome people and communists cannot be used in the same sentence. except for that one.

  • When I first started reading the book I was kinda of yaahh I left it there on my desk like months but when I was off on the holidays I had nothing else to do so I read...after that I found myself stay up all night reading it I was surprised at how amazing it was I've read other books and they were boring giving every detail of what the narrator was seeing but with Steph she made you feel like you were realy there in Wanda's thought seeing what she saw feeling what she felt,loved,hated,feard.T_T

  • @Beforeidi It starts really slow ( I know) and you don't understand ANYTHING about the alien stuff so that's why I stopped at the beginning of chapter 2 xD. But you should really read further because it gets better! I promise! (unless ur really into sci-fi because this book isn't really a sci-fi book xD)

  • I LOVE YOUR KITTY KAT!!! what's his name?

  • I agree with you, this book is nothing like the Twilight series. Personally, I love this book 10x more. In the beggining of it, i wasnt in to it. But once i actually buckled down i loved it! Its actually become one of my favorite books.

  • man...that Stephenie has no creativity at ALL!!! Storys like that was famous in the 50s till the 70s and was way better...the vampire was in 30s...and now she's trying to morph that classical B movies in something Cute...FUCKING BRAIN WASHING ALIENS AREN'T CUTE!!! NEITHER BLOODLUST VAMPIRE!!! STEPHENIE YOU BITCH!

  • i still kinda dont get it. i want to read it but i what i dont get is that are they still themselves even though the aliens take over their body?

  • @16ILoveLA No, the humans kinda fade away,, so they actually die. Melanie is one of those strong humans that stay in their body but can't control it so there are 2 souls in Mel's body: 1 alien, 1 human.

  • @16ILoveLA i dont wanna give to much away but no the souls completely take over the human body. the human is basically gone. the whole book is about a girl named melanie who DOES NOT want to let go so like the soul is controlling the body, but its like the sould and the girl are sharing the same mind. like the girl talks to the soul through the mind. its hard to explain. :) its a really good book. i personally think it is way better (and different) than the twilight saga :P

  • Just finished reading the host, i really enjoyed it, yes the first few chapters were confusing but once you get through them its actually a great read! loved the characters in it, the humor to! couldn't stop laughing at some of the sarcasm bits between mel and wander! lol. :D

  • I've read this book like 5 times. its amazing and i think they are going to make a movie out of it. Does anyone know if there is going to be a sequal to the host?

  • @BigBlueEyes017 I read somewhere that SM said that if she wanted to write a sequel it was going to be called The Seeker or something.. But she's not really sure. AND THERE'S GOING TO BE A MOVIE :D

  • @kim66003 Hey, thanks for the info! Glad to hear there will be a movie :)

  • Nice kitty!!!!!So cute!!!!!!!

  • Im almost done reading the Host, its awesome.

  • awesome, i have it and havent read it yet...now i want to....thank you! :)

  • The first two chapters are boring, but I muscled through and it was GOOD, great even. I love Jared. Ian's too Edward-y. I can't wait for the movie.

  • I just saw new Twilight eclipse movie at OnlineTwilightEclipse[dot]tk Its pretty awesome xD

  • i personally loved this book probl one of my favories ever

  • i like the host much better than the twilight saga. i hope stephenie meyer comes up with another book(hopefully two more).

  • Question:What do you think?Would somebody, who loves fantasy a lot(I say fantasy not science fiction),could love this book, even if he hated Twilight?

  • Yes. Because it's NOTHING like Twilight as far as the story and plot goes.

  • wow. this book sounds amazing. I'm going to barnes and nobel today. I already know what book in getting

  • Enjoy! It's a great read!

  • :( I couldn't get through this book stuck on chapter 2 or 3 ....it bores me soo badly.. i don't think its my kind of story book but either way one day i will finish reading it since i bought the book.

Don't wanna waste my money LOL...!

  • Push through. It gets better.

  • @nishalyn the beggingings SOOOO boring but it gets so so so good!

  • i read it right when it came out and the library at my school was closing down for the year. the librarian told me that only a few ppl could check the book out once it got there and i almost never turned it in. but they understood cause i finished it before them.

i dont think it was aliens that everyones refering to, i'd like to think of them as spiritual beings. we call them aliens because theryre not us. something to think about

  • Exactly...they aren't your average aliens. I like that you call them spiritual beings...but that does make it seems a little religious, which it's not. So maybe more like Spirit Beings? I dunno. But thanks for the comment. I think it's gonna help people understand more.

  • ya i agree with you on the spirit beings. sounds alot better. and i love how she shows us how importand our earth is to us and how others see it and how we treat our earth

  • I would actually say out of the 600 plus pages it was very little about the alians and was about the humans... even tho the main character was Wanderer an alian.. very confusing but i was expecting the book to be WAY diff then it was.. i was very happy i was wrong i love this book and have read it more then once :D

  • Exactly. It's more about Human interaction and emotion. It is way different than people expect, even me. Not your average Alien book :)

  • Reading The Host at the minute. And love it. Can't put it down. Lol

  • my mums got me this for christmas , she kinda let it slip hahaa. im kinda a bit thinky about readin it cos i dont i dont want to be disappointed after i read twilight and loved it so much . and aliens isnt really wat id normally chose to read about sooo ... :\

  • It's not your normal alien book at all. And it's even better than Twilight in some ways. You'll really connect to the characters. Get through the 1st chapter or so and you'll be hooked! Don't worry - you'll enjoy this read :)

  • could you review "The Hunger Games"

  • That's right. I meant to read that. Let me see if it's in at my library. Last time it was checked out! :)

  • I'm 7th in line eh...

  • i enjoying reading this book right now on chapter 5 can't wait to read more school just takes up more of my time then figured so hopefully during breaks and stuff i will be able to finish it off

  • It's one you don't wanna put down! :)

  • I loved the book so much<3

It was my first experience with miss Meyer, and man she is a fine author.

Too bad she is spending the rest of the year off, i even had to read Twilight to make the waiting for the sequel easier to bear.

    And hey, Great review;)

  • Wasn't it so good? :) Thanks for commenting!

  • omg im so close to finishing the book and i cant wait

  • Isn't it great? It really pulls you in!

  • I actiually finished this book today. I really enjoyed reading it. But now I'm a little panicked cuz i haven't got anything to read, so I'm about to order the first book of another serie (House of nights). It contains 6 pretty short (about 400 pages) novels. I think it's a twilight/harry potter cinda serie. Maybe you should give it a try! The first book is called "Marked".

BTW! Your reviews kicks ass! Keep on doing them =]

  • Awe - you are such a sweetheart. I actually have another review or 2 to do. But I had a buncha books I tried to begin reading, and then I found I couldn't get into them...went through like 5...so I am on another Kristin Hannah book now. :) Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into it! :)

  • Comment removed

  • i LOVE this boook soo much (:

  • I've been debating back and forth on whether to read this book or not. I"ve heard so many mixed reviews that I'm not sure what to think. I mean, I did enjoy the Twilight Saga (Except for Breaking Dawn). I may eventually give in and buy The Host. We'll see.

  • I'd read it if I were you. You can always check out your local library like I do. Another idea is to go to the book store and read the 1st chapter to see if it's readable (in the style you like). You have to be able to bend your reality a bit, but otherwise, I'd really recommend it. It's one I'm planning on reading again (and that's rare for me).

  • I just finished The Host today and loved it! Especially the ending!

  • Wasn't it great :) I liked the end too. It was def. interesting.

  • i loved the ending i think there might be a part 2 cause i found that i had alot of questions in the end also i read it in 2 weeks which is awesome for me cause ive never finished a book that fast and this book is amasing i think it is better than twilight

  • Nice job! The book was pretty long too :)

  • just finished the host today, actually. Love the book so much, Ian is amazing too :-)

  • I'm glad you liked it. I know I need to read it again soon. I enjoyed it very much myself...and I was also a big fan of Ian. :)

  • i looooove this book soooo much i actually dreamed about this book!!

  • OMg! Me too. I would fall asleep thinking about the part I just read and sort of fall back into it in my dream. This is a book I'll surely read again.

  • but when you think about it, The Host is not that different from other S. M. books, for example it has the same... hm, how do I say this...? same model, action wise, like at the beginning there's a little action, then the middle is pretty calm and then at the end there's a lot of action.

  • She does have a pattern there. I also feel like the emotion is well written into her books. Like, we understand what the characters are thinking and not just saying. Thank you for your comment :)

  • I loved the book, i hav read it 2 times, its sooooo good, i laughed and cried alot reading it. It was just amazing, better than whole twilight series :)

  • I know I'll be reading it again. Thanks for the comment!

  • i luved the book to and i cried a lot to i was glad the was with ian in the end . x

  • I liked the ending too...it fit well :)

  • that was such an amazing book! it starts getting really good at like chapter 14 :) i read it all in three days lol and i cried a lot too lmao

  • I agree. It was an emotional book. If you really wanna cry, read Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah.

  • oh my goodness I loved that book. I was up until three in the morning reading it and i cried and was so emotional but that is just me.

  • It's such a page turner! :)

  • I cried soooooooo many times!!!

  • Awe. I can surely see why. It brought you in touch with human emotions in such a beautiful way. :)

  • Your kitten is crazy cute lol. And I'm a huge fan of The host and Twilight series. I love her books so much being myself I hated science friction If you told me to read a science friction book before twilight I would have said DUDE IT'S NOT REAL. BUT NOW I have a open mind for out this world ideas now it's interesting I should say 10 stars For The host

  • I hear ya. They are some fun books. :)

  • I couldn't count the number of times this book made me tear up from the sheer emotion in it...would recommend this to ANYONE.

  • I agree. In this book she has a way of making you feel the emotions of the characters. You really get to feel the human experience from a unique point of view.

  • to tell the truth, i wish the book was longer. most AMAZING book ever! i hope she makes sequels!

  • For me, I wanted to read it fast...like, I could not put it down. Once I finished it though...I wish there were more. Sequels would be way cool. I agree!

  • yeah she sed she might make them! i am sooo happy!

  • i love the host 2847568073658972568027657826x better than twilight. & yeahh. you think it might be weird cause of "aleins" , but it's not.

  • Exactly! It's not your average aliens! And her writing was more developed and you could really understand the emotional struggles of the characters :)

  • i loved that book i read it in 2 days and ur kitty is soooo cute =3

  • It was awesome, huh? I love your name! BitenbyEdward - so awesome!

  • yes it was sooooo cool lol thanks

  • i'm still debating whether or not to read this i love stephenie's writing...but idk the whole alien concept...i went through the same thing with twilight haha

  • I understand. I was the same way. It's not alien like Men In Black Alien. It's more of a emotional transformation of the human...I don't know about you, but I enjoy "chick lit" type fiction. So this book to me seemed like something I'd not like at all. But I loved it and couldn't put it down. I would surely recommend this book to others.

  • what's there to loose?....

  • thank you so much i think ill go out and go out and get rite now.....im so sad i fished the twilight saga so now i can start reeding gain THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

  • you are welcome! I felt the same way - you'll love it! :)

  • QUESTIONS!

    Hehe. :D

Okay I got 'The Host' and Im going to read it after 'Go Ask Alice',

    But yeea..

    My questions,haha, were..

1.The book is in 'Wanderer's' [I believe the souls name is...] POV or Melanies?

    ALSO.

    2. Is this book easier to understand than it seeems?

    Haha.

    Thanks!

  • YES. This book is easier to understand than it seems. The very first chapter or so is a bit confusing, but then you catch on real fast and it makes total sense for the rest of the book. I don't have the book anymore (got it from the library), but I believe that it is from mostly Wanderer's (aka Wanda) point of view - BUT because they are both in the same body/mind, you hear the story from both of them. You'll love the book - it gets really good and stays that way throughout the book!

  • i just finished reading the host two days ago! oh my god, it was awesomeness! i loved it! Ian O'Shea is the best (i wish he was real)!!! i think stephenie meyer did a fantastic job! the host is, by far, her best work so far! i mean, i loved twilight, but the host....! aahhh! best book i've read, hope stephenie makes more to it!

  • I agree on both counts - this book is a great read AND Ian is a great character. :)

  • Thank You I will definitely try it out ! I loved the Twilight series and I don't think I'll ever read books like that but I will try this one out ! Thanks :)

  • If you like the voice Meyer writes with, you'll like this one too. She has the emotions of the female character in this one similar to the character Bella. It's really good. :)

  • i personally think you should have mentioned wanda/melanie's love triangle with ian and jared. oh my god!

  • MMM, maybe. Didn't wanna ruin it/give too much away. That was part of the human element I mentioned...well, in my mind. But yeah...that triangle of sorts was a huge part of the book, you are right. She played it out very nicely. :)

  • Nice review! I'll try to pick this one up next time I'm at the book store, sounds...inetresting. I'm going to miss Meyer's Twilight series though, I just finished reading them and I'm going to miss them lol I don't know if I'll ever find books like those again :( Oh well, at least I have the New Moon movie to look forward to :)

  • Thanks! The book is good, even if a little off the normal subject I'd read. I felt the same way about Harry Potter...but then Twilight came around. So maybe something just as great will come along! :) Enjoy The Host, I did! :)
