Wow, I really like the way this sounds. With the quality of the video and the simpleness of the song it sounds very unique. I could listen to it over and over :)
You should put the left hand in. Its pretty easy. For the first... like minute of the song its just a F Minor arpeggio.
Put your pinky and thumb on the C and use your 3rd and 4th to play the F and G#. Then, with your third finger just kinda follow your right thumb. I think the 4th finger comes down to G when you start moving down.
Just curious how familiar you are with classical sonatas.
I can play this, well... Actually I just kinda got bored and played with it for a day or two. Was to repetitive and not challenging enough to keep my interest.
I don't think the guy "Matt" from Muse is as good as everyone else does. His piano pieces don't stand alone, they need the rest of the band - and thats fine, but he is no master composer.
Ya the solo is cool. Matt didn't steal it but it wreaks of Rachmaninoff lol... Thats a good thing though.
I do find that as nice as that few seconds of piano solo is it doesn't mesh with the rest of the song very well. He was using neat harmonies in the solo and he didn't use any of them in the rest of the song... It was kinda out of place to me.
That said, I played that at the bar last night lol. I was jammin' to it too.
@EuphoricDan Recently-ish, Muse released a new album, on the 4th track of that album, the coda, or outro melody is Rachmaninoff's Chopin Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 in E-Flat, it's slower at parts, but yeah. I thought I recognized it from somewhere..
Lol well not any real music education, I just took a beginners piano course in 9th grade then recently I started reading a book called 'Mastering the Piano' to learn a little theory and technique since I wanted to start composing. I mainly just studied debussy and listz works although I can't play them at all, but I can analyze them. It really helped me with my understanding of composition.
You have a nice concept there, but you should really try adding more to the left hand rather than just repeating the beat of the right hand. It's actually a really good intro for something bigger. The raw progression isn't very original but you do seem to add a little extra to it. I recommend you experiment with something different than what you hear in today's western harmony so you can come up with something unique.
No problem, It was like watching myself a few months ago, so I had to leave a comment. I'm not sure how much experience you have, but if you haven't studied music theory, I would start. After learning to analyze music rather than just 'what sounded good', It made the composing process allot easier. You'll be amazed at how simple modern music really is, and be able to create a true 'Original Composition'. Sadly most 'Original Compositions' nowadays are just modified renditions of original works.
I study music theory, I am in school music for 11 years, but I especially play: in violin and piano and on my own in guitar I just am starting covering and composing. And in short time was working with this cover. Are you have studied music?
