@xSHADOWxCHILDx I think two months or maybe three will let the tissue get repaired when you stretch. As you got pierced recently, the full healing process takes from 5 to 8 months and is better to keep the full healing process ends, before starting to stretch (prevents from infections and overload to the tissue/cartilage).

@alinzana Don't do it drunk, you probably will lose the sensibility and unfortunately can seriously damage your tissue and cartilage.

Pain is a trouble meter. The bigger is the pain, the more agressiveness are you giving to your body. It's all about stress. The more stressed, the more time you take to heal and more suceptible to infections your body are.

@alinzana The secret of the taper stretching is lubrication. I usually use vaselin, but Isn't the most recomended due to the compounds. A lot of people use Vitamin E gel and have good results (specially at the tissue regeneration process).

Pain is relative. Due to minor damage on the tissue, you need to take care of infections and have the normal inflammation (less than when you get pierced). The really pain in the process is the "denting" pain. Until the jewelry molds the cartilage you have some pain. That pain is like pressing the point of your finger with two fingers. Not too bad, but hurts for a while.

I just don't get why people are too afraid about stretching with this or that, skip sizes and all things commented here.

My septum is full healed and im going to 000g (10~11mm) without problems than finding a titanium "no flared" jewelry.

I think people must respect their bodyes, not someone "rules". If everyone keep respecting "someone" rule you will never see a one point suspension, for example.

a flared will not go in , its best to use a taper to stretch it first and then wait for it to heal enough and then put the flare in

Answer: never put a flare in right after stretching. even for lobes, septum thought its always difficult, best be, let it heal with a non flare-then and wraps of tape to it. and you should be about to get the flare in after that.

Your problem was using acrylic jewelry. You should never use acrylic on a septum unless you've had it for excess of 6 months as it's a slightly porous material. Good to know it's cleared up though.

The gap between 8 and 6 is .8mm which is larger than most of the smaller sizes so that alone should be a chore. Man.. haha.

so i waited about 4 months since my last stretch, today it's at a measly 10ga. i didnt use a taper because i'd rather put in the new ring after months of healing and loosening, so now i have a really sharp pain around the septum like when i move it a little. it feels as if i just pierced it. is that normal? should there be some pain but not as irritating to the touch? it didnt bleed or anything, it's just super sensitive. it is only the first day, but i'd like to know what you think. thanks!

I think this is perfectly normal if you don't have a broken nose. The pain source is the cartilage, that needs some remodelation.

Believe or not, this pain became pleasuring and often the pain leaves in 2 or 3 months.
