and yes i have tested this. if you would have standed just above the maze out of the way but still gave the zombie a way to reach you at the end. he would have gone all the way as long as you stayed in proximity

@Havk995 well from my findings they still see doors as obstacles oven open ones. unless you are in a position where the old AI kicks in which you are standing infront of the door.
