  • Hi Leigh. i wana buy d300s, can u tell me if u can adjust shutter speed b4 recording videos with d300s? Thanks, Much Appreciatd.

  • @funkytroll01 I'm looking into the shutter speed and ISO behavior of a couple of different Nikon DSLR's in video mode. I'm doing a little more trial and error and then I will have a video which explains their behavior with shutter speed and ISO exactly. Aperture can definitely be adjusted. Exposure can be locked... but I'm researching the rest, hands-on.

  • @TheSnapChick ok then let me knw which nikon dslr is good 4 recording mvies according to video recording features, thanks for the reply earlier.

  • @funkytroll01 Personally, I prefer a dedicated video camera for moving images. If you are looking at video as a secondary feature of a still camera, the current crop of DSLR's do a good job, like the D3100, D7000, etc...

  • @TheSnapChick U see, in D7000 and D300s there's a small difference in amount which i can manage to pay and get a D300s, which i want, so my decision would b D300s, and as u hv told me i can adjust Aperture. i think thats not enough for me but still its good to hv D300s.. whts ur experence say..

  • @TheSnapChick coz in D3s there's an option of ISO n shuttr speed controls both i saw THE CHASE but thats way too expensiv 4 me cant afford, and u suggestd D7000, V.True, in D7000 i think Shuttr speed can alone b adjustd 4 videos, i saw BENEVOLENT MISCHIEF, yea, but i think i'll hv to decide b/w D7000 n D300s, but i like D300s better, right now i hv P100. :)

  • how come my D300 does not have a live view button?

  • @jamakgolshani On the D300, I think it is on one of the dials. My camera is the D300s, which is a little bit different.

  • @TheSnapChick Thank you for that. I found it! Do you know if only the D300s is capable of doing video? I can't find the option to go to video on mine :(

  • @jamakgolshani Hi! No video mode on the D300 :(

  • how do you change the ISO in video mode though? it seems as though it is stuck at a very high ISO, even when i set it differently.

    cheers

  • @leighgriffiths Check to see if you have Auto ISO enabled. If so, it will go to a higher ISO if the shutter speed gets too slow.

  • how do i see the vertical horizon on live view mode?

  • @stanglova86 You have to be using 'tripod mode' for live view and you can assign the virtual horizon to the function button.

  • i have a d300 and it dosent have a live view button

  • @ramonbmx But you have Live View on the dial on the upper left side of the camera, right? D300 has the dial, D300s has it on a dedicated button.

  • is there anyway u can change the length of video you can shoot at one time, i notice they give you 5minute intervals

  • @wingger07 5 minutes is the max. I've heard that this is to keep the sensor from overheating, but I'm not sure whether or not I've seen that reasoning in any official Nikon documentation. Leigh

Will you please send me the link in which you used one monolight + one flash speedlight mounted on stand to describe how to eliminate the shadow behind person (or veronica your statue). Thanks

  • @junaid20i Hmm.... I know that shoot is on my site somewhere... but basically, you can put the lights on either side of the model at 45 degrees. This should kill the shadow. Alternatively, you can position one light toward the model and another light behind the model, facing the background.

  • @TheSnapChick

By the way i have only one 300 watt/second studio monolight (having big soft box) and SB-900 to mounted on the other stand. Is this a good combination to work professionally for doing photo shoots in studio? Camera is same as ur Nikon D300s + Nikon 17-55mm f /2.8g lens

  • @junaid20i You're off to a good start. I worked with two strobes for quite awhile before I obtained a few more. In my opinion, it is good to master the basics with two lights - primary and fill, and then add more once you have good experience. Great question - thanks! :)

  • Hey thanks! Fantastic tutorial :-) I'm hoping to upgrade from my old D200 to this camera next week, so I may return lol x

  • @TheFragiled I'm glad that you like it! Please do return if you upgrade. And if you have any questions about the D300s or other cameras, feel free to contact me directly. Leigh

  • @TheSnapChick Leigh ! how can u make a movie with result of D300s? can u show us the way to make movie (edit movie to be continue one to another episode and also how to add some music in it ), love,

  • Another great video :)
