I bought a Monotron and it's great...but it's also "hissing" (ssssss) like hell; I had a Mopho and it was quiet; Korg needs quality improvement on the Monotron; nevertheless it's a cool analog initiative.

@Aetila The hissing is from the literal electronics inside the Monotron, something unfortunately unavoidable in something so small. Kind of like the slight hiss you get from using headphones from a computer's inbuilt audio out.

It's nice to destroy the insanely inflated vintage analog market; let them keep their ultra-expensive aging machines. Instead of paying 2000 USD for an old MS20 I'll buy a little Monotron for 50 USD! :-)

interesting. I have an ms20 and tried the same thing it's damn close. Of course the ms20 has massive amounts of modulation options using the patch panel and dual oscillators. But a poor man's ms20, yes.

c´mon guys, as if you didnt know that you can patch anything to run thrue the monotron and thus control the sound? you can plug your iphone into it or you hifi or your mom screeming infront of daddy with a mic in her hand... lol

but serious. its not the same filter. Korg sais its a very similar filter. Not the same, but not bad at all!!

The MS20 actually sounds a little thinner, but it probably has the later of the two filter designs that were in MS20s. The earlier MS20 filter had more discrete components if i remember correctly, and sounds a bit better than the later MS20 designs. We know that the Monotron is definitely the earlier, better Korg circuit.
