  • @Amenokuni1 "Why are you such a queer?"..........."I am". I don't think that counts as discursive reasoning.

  • my helmet just needs sanding then it needs paint then its done with the visor

  • how did you make it shine

  • I find it how!

Once u sanded the Bondo spray Primer First then

Chrome Color spay can make sure it write CHROME on ur spray can mine cost 9,99+tax

  • where did you buy the tinted plastic?

  • Home Depot.

  • HEy!! Nice WOrkk!!Can you answer 2 question please cuz try to make one and its a fail! So 1st is what bondo did you use cuz mine was red and i was like wtf 2 how did you did to make it shine??? Thx alot if you answer and by the way Nice Job

  • how did you insert the visor, from the inside , outside , or is it integrated

  • very good! nice job.. i want to make one aswell.. can u give more tips?

  • really? you get other people to make your helmet

  • That was my brother and my father. We all made it.

  • woops, didnt see the description :\

  • what did you use for the visor?

  • :D good

  • I always wanted to know this: Is it hot inside your helmet, and how is the temperature in the real Daft Punk helmets managed..., hope you know this.

  • I do know this. They have said in interviews that they are both very hot, but they get used to it. As for how they survive, Thomas has little slits under the visor of his helmet, and Guy Man's helmet is open at the bottom. My helmet on the other hand is very hot because I didn't put the breathing slits in. My breath also fogs up the visor a bit.

  • Okay Cool :) I think your helmet looks just like the one that Thomas uses ! Good job 6/5

  • how did you cut the cutting board? and how thin does it have to be?

  • Scissors. It doesn't matter how thin.

  • i like your creativity =D you can also have one made just like theres for $65k by the people that made theres

  • thats what iu woould do if i had the mula

  • Wow, it's really good :D!

  • what materials?

  • ummmm... daft punk helmets look pretty shitty on girls...

  • Yeeeeeeah... I am a guy, I just have long hair...

  • on youtube, i've never seen anybody make guy's helmet

  • i have three questions..

How did you make the gloves? What's the visor made of? And will you make me one?..

  • You best be trollin'...

  • I designed my own helmet, made it out from a motorcyklehelmet, and voila! I'm ready to meet the raves lol

  • Indeed.

  • how did you make the glove i don't get it a plastic cutting board?

  • Yes, a plastic cutting board that we cut into the right shapes and spray painted the right color and glued to a glove.

  • hey can i find bondo at any hardware store like home depot?

  • That's where I got mine at.

  • Sure can

  • I don't even know what you're replying to..

  • Haha, omg, I love your use of intelligent reasoning to rationalize this asinine statement. 5/5 for sure.

  • how much for a pair of the gloves you made i allready have the helmit but i need the gloves to complete the costume

  • u look like u shood be in dog town and z-boys

  • that'll be great for costume party...

they'll be like....WOAH DAFT PUNK's in my party!! oh it's just you..

  • could you post a list of the materials you used for each step? great job, the helmet looks awesome.

  • We started with a baseball helmet, then used cereal boxes to get make the rest of the helmet. That was a bunch of trial and error to get the shapes right. Then we used coke cans for the ear. Covered it all in Bondo to get it smooth and together. Then attached the ears. More bondo. The visor is just tinted plastic that you can get at a Home Depot. Then just a coat of regular metallic spray paint. It's just alot of trail and error and starting over.

  • it's all about bondo. that's what you use.

  • that was actually amazing. what did you use for the white over coat to give it shape?

  • at 1:13 to make myself more clear.

  • It's actually a light pink (to be picky). It is Bondo. Very easy to use and it dries harder than rock. The best part is, after you lay down a good amount of Bondo, when it dries, you can sand it to however you want.

  • oh awesome. thanks for getting back to me, eventually xD

  • epic

  • can u make the other helmet? This is very cool!

  • (Im the brother who made the helmet)

We were planning on it for a while. We still might do it. We just would need to find a good starting point, like a motor cycle helmet or something...

  • Nice job! this is great

  • i made a robot helmet myself, no daftpunk helemt, but a robot helmet.

    quite fun

  • how were the edges done? did you use papier mache or did you use some kind of sealant? and what about the gloves? :)

  • We just cut out cereal boxes to the right shape, then attached them with paint. Then to make them hard and attached better, we covered it all in Bondo (good shit). And the gloves were just normal black gloves. The silver parts were just pieces of a cheap, thin, cutting board that we spray painted.

  • sweet photos with the helmet finished xD

  • one more question.

    sorry man.

where did you buy the tinited plastic?

  • Home Depot.

  • d00d, what did you make the front of the helmet?

like whats it made out of?

with the smile on it, and around the eyes.

please let me know, thank you.

  • All of the helmet is made out of cardboard. Except for the baseball helmet base, that is.

  • wicked thank you man.

    great mask btw.

  • No problem.

  • how do u shine the helmet

  • nice work dude that looks fantastic. Could walk around town and have passers by think ur Thomas Banglter lol

  • wow, that's one of the best home-made daft punk suits I've ever seen! I think if Daft Punk would see this they'd be proud :) (maybe not of that west side thing though)

  • Actually, that picture was inspired by one that Thomas Bangalter himself took.

  • as if thomas is a west side nigger, shees

  • Well I'm not saying that, but he did put up west side in a picture once. It was obviously a joke though.

  • what year did daft punk start cause i saw alot of grownups at there concert

  • Around the 90s.

  • 96-97

    also, grown-ups...

    man I feel old now...

    dang

  • Wow really cool at the end

  • I'm making one like this, except I'm not gonna use Bondo. Or should I? Tips?

    ~Matoro3311

  • Bondo is a good idea. It keeps the helmet hard and gives an overall professional look.

  • Friggin coke cans for ears. I would have never thought of that!

  • bitchin!

  • were did you get the gloves or how did u make them? i think your whole costume is very well done:)

  • We cut up a plastic cutting board, spray painted the pieces, and used rubber cement to put them on a pair of icetoners.

  • Wow. I got to make me one of those.

  • hey good job making the helmet but

the ears and the cheeks are way off

    i am making one too

but i fucked up on it

i got all they way to bondo-ing

    the whole helmet

but then i noticed that the cheeks on the visor are WAY too small so i gotta destroy it and restart

  • where did u get such a high chrome spray? and whats it called? i cant find any

  • dude.... U ROCK! PLEASE post a tutorial on how to make it!!!!!!!

  • Thanks! And the visor parts of the helmet, they're made of cardboard, yes?

  • No, the final visor is made out of tinted plastic. What you see at :30 was just there for size reference.

  • Oh, I meant the bottom part of the helmet, the jaw and above the visor but you answered that in a question above. Thanks again!

  • Happy to help.

  • This is a beyond fantastic, bang-up job! Would you mind terribly if I took some screen shots of the video to print out in a guide for myself as reference? Also, I was wondering how much you spent total on this project. Thanks!

  • Nah go ahead and take as many screen shot as you need. All in all the only thing I didn't already have at my house at the beginning of this project was the baseball helmet so it really only cost me 12 bucks for the helmet.

  • That is probably one of the better replicas I've seen of Thomas' helmet. Kudos to you. One question though, for the bottom piece is that a cut off part of the baseball helmet or is it something completely different?

Once again congrats on a great job.

  • You mean the jaw part?

  • Yea

  • That's made out of cardboard from a cereal box.

  • What kind of plastic should you recommend for another replica of the Thomas helmet?

  • What I don't understand is how you got the Visor to stay. Did you glue it on there? I live near a plastic store and I'm pretty sure they can custom make me one for cheap, but I have no idea how I'm gonna make it stay. Tape won't be strong enough, and a glue gun will warp the plastic now? Did you use super glue?

    That being said.....

Amazing! Nicely done man. You should make this into a business hahaha

  • im gonna go make a master chief outfit(not costume)now

  • 0:23, I'M-A FIRIN' MA LAZAR!!!

  • very good job and all but it isn't supposed to be smiling haha

  • The original helmet that Thomas from Daft Punk wore had a smile on it.

  • It did yes, but, now it's just a line.

  • sorry i mean 1:08 how did u make the bottom piece

  • can you tell me what you did to make the bottom piece after the visor and everything

  • Are you referring to what is seen at :17?

  • no at 31 you have the bottom piece on how did u make that

  • Hmmm check out my helmet and what kind of plastic did you use for the gloves?

  • It was just your average everyday plastic cutting board.

  • Sick, but i would've done guy-manuel's helmet, it's more badass

  • It's much harder, but it's a possibility for the future.

  • yeahh i know :\

i want the originall oneee, with the lights and everything <3
