HE is incredible, and the voice is delicious. The one thing is that he is allways tacking out all those high notes "because Verdi din not wright them"... and I miss them!

I could never understand the appeal of Bruson- I've always thought his voice, although musically employed at times, never had any core, or indeed any beauty whatsoever. Even when younger the voice seemed rather dry and unfocused. The one Verdi role he truly excelled at in my opinion was Falstaff (he was an outstanding Falstaff) In the rest of the great Verdi baritone roles he doesn't hold a candle to Managuerra or Cappucilli, Merrill, or Macneil sorry to say.
Bruson's Rigoletto has always been too dramatic for me. He's undeniably the most powerful and well honed voice to have recorded Rigoletto (at least in recent history), I just feel like he's a bit too emo for the role
Lately I've been enjoying him more, but I still prefer Wixel or Nucci.
@Loismustdie26 I think we're priveledged to have such men to choose from. I'd add to the mix Capucilli and the incomparbale MacNeil. Each has his own worthy addition to this most demanding and complex role. I am singing it soon and hope my poor attempt lands somewhere in the aura of these distingusjed gentlemen.

This regie with Rigoletto alone is rare. But Bruson ate the scene. His voice and acting is unique. I love this interpretation. Bravo Meastro !!

@Loismustdie26 How can a Rigoletto be TOO dramatic, particularly in this scene?

A chi parla Rigoletto? Sogna, forse?
